Something Good Can Work: Book Two - ON HOLD INDEFINITELY-

Rear View

Today is our last day in Ibiza, we leave out early in the morning to fly back to England. I’m not looking forward to it, going back to England means going back to my life, which I’ve learned sucks.
Every night here has been magical, Harry is a prince and I was his princess. We went scuba diving, we swam with Dolphins, and every night we watched the sun set and drank out of coconuts. It was like a fairy tale.
“Babe, since we’re going to have our last dinner on the island, what should I wear?” Harry asked as he walked into the main living area where I was seated. He held up two different shirts and took turns placing them against his chest. “I like the white one.” I said as I pulled my bare feet up on to the sofa. My skin was ridiculously tan and it made the freckles on my nose pop out. My hair had also gotten substantially blonder; I don’t know if it’s from the sun or from my skin being much darker than normal. Harry was quite tan himself, he looked like a God to be honest.
“I like the white one too.” He said as he walked back into the bedroom. I was already dressed; it was easy when all I had to do was throw a Maxi dress over my bikini. There was no need for makeup, only a little gloss on my lips. My hair was in a mess of curls, but it worked for the beach look.
We went to a small restaurant right on the beach, tiki lights were lit all around and the smell of steak and chicken being seared was filling my nostrils. I was famished. We were seated at a table facing the ocean and the moon was bright in the sky as we all talked over glasses of water and delectable food. His cousin and his wife had been very mindful of my issues with alcohol and had opted out of drinking when I was present. I was thankful for that.
After dinner Harry and I went back to our villa, we sat out in the sand and watched the waves crash against the shore line. Harry had left his guitar inside for tonight, which was fine by me because it meant I’d be in his arms instead.
“Did you enjoy yourself?” He asked as he leaned his head down, kissing the top of my head. I was sitting back against him, his arms wrapped around me as we swayed slightly side to side.
“Yes. I had the most wonderful time…” I said, but my mind of course had somehow drifted back to the diary entry Niall had left for me. I had to tell Harry and I wanted to tell him now before we went back home.
“I need to tell you something.” I said finally and sat up, I quickly turned to where I was sitting on my knees.
He squinted his eyes slightly, wondering what I was going to say I’m sure.
“Before we left, I found this box of stuff in my closet and there was a journal. It belonged to Niall…” I watched his face soften, he was listening intently. “On the last entry…he left me a letter. He said he knew he was going to die and you were the only person he’d want me to be with, he said to forgive Alison, and he said that he was okay with it. With us and with them and everything.” I said slowly.
Harry took a deep breath and looked away from me, his eyes connecting with the moon.
“I know…” He said softly, finally brining his gaze back to mine.
“What do you mean?” I asked, crossing my arms. I was not expecting that.
“I knew about the journal, I promised him I’d let you find it on your own…”
“You knew he was going to kill himself?!” I said loudly. “No! Summer, NO. He told me he was going to die, I knew about the cancer, but I had no idea he was going to do that.” He said quickly, grabbing me by my shoulders, knowing my reflex was to run away.
I blinked, inhaling deeply through my nostrils. The salty smell of the ocean was calming, I wished we could live here forever.
“You promise?” I finally said, I believed him. I knew he wouldn’t let Niall do that.
“I promise a thousand times Summer, I would never have sat back and let Niall take his life. I tried so hard to get him on board with new drugs and he was not having it. I was the only one he told about the sickness, other than his parents and he made me swear I wouldn’t say a word until you found the journal. I’m sorry Summer, I wanted to tell you so bad.” He was speaking quickly and his voice was breaking. He was trying not to cry.
I threw my arms around him and we fell backwards, my lips on his before he could say anything else. There something about Harry that made it hard to resist. From the first time we bumped into each other at the pub, the time he told me I had sad eyes, to the time we rode the London Eye and made love for the first time.
He was everything to me, I knew now after everything that I couldn’t let him go.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I’m going to miss sleeping in the same bed with you every night….” Harry said as we walked hand in hand toward the gate in the airport.
“I know… it is going to be weird. I have a feeling my teddy bear won’t suffice anymore…” I was being honest, I had no idea how I would sleep comfortably without him now that I knew how wonderful it was to have him beside me.
“Maybe I can sneak in your window…” He said with a sly smirk.
“Maybe. If you’re quiet….” I added a wink.
“I can be quiet, you’re the loud one.” He retorted, giving me a hip bump.
“You ready kids? We’re about to start loading.” Thomas said as he stepped up behind us, putting a hand on each of our shoulders. I frowned slightly, I wasn’t ready.
I wasn’t ready for anything.
