1 week later

I was just done with straightening my hair and my makeup was perfect today, which shocked me. You’ve got to have some luck on your birthday. That’s right, it’s my sixteenth birthday, fucking finally. Mum and Louis were in my room earlier singing for me and gave me some presents, it was mostly makeup. Since I learnt how to do makeup on myself I have really gotten interested in it so I was really happy about the makeup I got. ‘’Is the birthday girl ready? You’re driving to school today’’ Louis said as his head popped in my room ‘’Am I driving? By myself?’’ I squealed ‘’well mum will sit next to you but yeah you’re driving’’ and by that my face dropped. ‘’Come on Em, don’t show her you’re miserable. She’s really trying’’ I nodded and grabbed my bag before walking out to the car.

‘’Are you excited, poppet?’’ my mum asked as I sat in the driver seat and started the car. I met Louis’ eyes in the rear-view mirror ‘’fetching’’ I pressed a smile before driving off. ‘’Well you did that great, there will be no problem for you getting your license’’ mum said as I parked outside the school ‘’yeah, uhm bye see you later’’ I said and jumped out the car and headed for the school entrance. Louis ran up to me when I walked in school ‘’thanks for trying’’ he said and I couldn’t tell if he was being serious or not but before I could figure it out I got tackled with hugs. ‘’Happy birthday Baby Tommo’’ Liam was the first one to say ‘’happy birthday’’ Harry and Niall said at the same time making me laugh ‘’thank you guys, but now that I’m sixteen don’t you think we should just forget about the nickname Baby Tommo?’’ I tried ‘’no fucking way’’ Niall said and laughed as only he could making us all follow in laughs. ‘’Damn, well at least I tried’’ I shrugged. ‘’So the lads and Katie are coming over for pizza later tonight, then we’re going to a party. Since mum wouldn’t let me throw a party at our house we’ll just go to another house and trash it’’ Louis said and laughed ‘’well okay, see you guys later’’ I said before high fiveing all four.

At my locker I found Katie who jumped me with a hug and screamed happy birthday in my ear. The morning went on and it was time for lunch. Katie and I were heading to our usual table when I heard someone shout my name ‘’oi, Baby Tommo’’ I turned with a smile, knowing it was Niall who had shouted. We walked up to their table ‘’since it’s your birthday, we figured you could sit at our table’’ Liam snickered making me roll my eyes ‘’ever so flattered’’ I snorted and sat down with Katie beside me. Katie immediately started a conversation with Niall, I really think she fancies him. ‘’I’ve got the booze for tonight’’ Liam said proudly and got a high five from Louis ‘’can’t wait to open that first beer’’ he said dreamy. ‘’I just can’t wait to get my mind of everything’’ I sighed ‘’I don’t want you to drink tonight’’ Louis said and I just raised my eyebrows at him. ‘’First of all, it’s my birthday, second of all we are the same age now and third of all you’re not in charge of me Lou’’ he just stared at me for a second before opening his mouth but closing it again ‘’come on Tommo, let her have some fun. You’re only a year apart, it’s not like you’re letting a twelve year old drink’’ Liam said ‘’thanks Liam’’ I laughed.


It was 8.30pm and Katie, the lads and I was in our living room waiting for the pizza delivery. We had been playing games all night and forgot about the time so we were in a bit of a rush to the party. I rushed to the door, when I heard the bell, thinking it was finally the pizza which had finally arrived. I flung the door wide open only to see my dad standing there. ‘’Happy birthday, princess’’ he said and reached his hand out to give me a present but I stood frozen. In shock. ‘’Who is it, Em?’’ Louis came up behind me and froze too when he saw who was at the door. ‘’What do you want?’’ Louis stepped in front of me, like he wanted to protect me. ‘’Hey buddy. Don’t be silly Lou, I want to wish my princess happy birthday. Wow, you two have grown so much’’ he grinned, why the fuck did he grin? He can’t just show up here after five fucking months thinking we would be fine with it. ‘’What’s going on?’’ mum came up behind us, and as Louis and I, she froze. ‘’Tom’’ she said with a harsh tone, ‘’Jay’’ he mimicked her tone. ‘’Go back inside, kids’’ mum said and nodded towards the living room, ‘’come on Jay, I haven’t seen my kids in five months. Let me see them for five minutes’’ dad practically begged. ‘’Tom, Emmeline has friends over. It’s her birthday after all, you have to come another time’’ mum said and grabbed the door to close it but dad stopped her, ‘’don’t be like this Jay, it’s my children too’’ ‘’yes Tom it’s your children too, but you can’t show up here after five months expecting them to drop everything for you’’ she crossed her arms, clearly annoyed by the situation. ‘’I’m not, I’m simply asking for five minutes’’ he said ‘’you can’t have that right now, Tom’’ mum sighed ‘’so you think it’s okay to hit our children but I can’t be on a honeymoon and not call? okay fine, I’ll see you in court Jay’’ he said and turned around. I looked over at Louis in shock,’’what do you mean, Tom?’’ my mum yelled after him ‘’I’m getting custody, you’re not gonna touch our kids again’’ he yelled over his shoulder. Mum ran out after him ‘’who told you that?’’ she said ‘’well our daughter called me that night leaving me a voicemail hysterically crying about it. But you’re being difficult, if you’re not letting me see my kids then I’m dragging your ass to court’’ before I knew it Louis closed the door after them leaving the two of us standing alone in the hallway.

‘’You called dad, Em?’’ Louis asked and I thought he was going to be mad at me but he actually looked sad and I just nodded. ‘’I was having so many emotions that night, I was confused and I missed dad’’ I said feeling the tears build in my eyes and Louis saw it too. ‘’No Emma’’ he said grabbing my shoulders looking in to my eyes ‘’it’s your birthday, you are not crying on your birthday. We will deal with this tomorrow but for now, let’s go have fun with our friends’’ he said and I nodded again. I will not let this ruin my birthday.


We arrived to the party at 10pm after eating pizza at a restaurant instead, neither Louis and I wanted to stay at the house. The music was flowing, alcohol was consumed and teenagers were dancing. Just the place I wanted to be right now, no needed to be. We had already lost the boys but I didn’t really care. Someone was giving out jello shots and Katie and I gladly took a few before heading to the kitchen to get a real drink. ‘’Here you go, birthday girl’’ Katie handed me a drink which pretty much were 90% vodka in it. I already felt the alcohol in my head and felt the urge to dance but I wanted to clear up something first. ‘’Katie if I ask you something will you be honest with me?’’ I asked ‘’of course, you’re my best friend. Well you’re my only friend but yes of course’’ she laughed. ‘’Do you fancy Niall?’’ I asked and took a big sip of my drink Katie looked down for a bit before nodding and my face broke in to a huge smile. ‘’But I’m younger than him, he would never..’’ ‘’I will get you two together tonight, that’s my goal tonight’’ I gushed. I loved playing matchmaker. ‘’No you can’t do that, not if I’m not doing it to you. It’s after all your birthday. So which one of your brother’s friends do you think is the hottest?’’ Katie said but I just shook my head and took another sip of my drink ‘’I would never hook up with my brother’s friends’’ ‘’okay but I will find you someone else’’ she promised and I just went with it.

A while later we were out on the dance floor, I was pretty drunk but hadn’t forgot about my mission. Okay, well I had but suddenly both Liam and Niall were dancing close to us and I took my chance. I grabbed Katie and danced towards them. They smiled at us as we came up to them and I just pushed Katie on Niall who catched her with a laugh. Soon they were dancing close and I kept my distance while dancing with Liam. I wonder where Louis and Harry are? ‘’Do you want a drink?’’ Liam yelled in to my ear, his breath smelled vodka ‘’yeah’’ I said and we walked away.

‘’Are you having a good birthday, love?’’ he asked as he poured me a drink ‘’I’m having the best time, thank you for planning it all’’ I said remembering Louis had earlier this night said that Liam got us invited to the party. ‘’No worries’’ he smiled and gave me my drink and I jumped up on a counter. He was really cute when he smiled, his eyes were adorable and..no Emma. You’re not getting involved with any of Louis’ friends. Damn why do they all have to be cute? ‘’Earth to Baby Tommo’’ Liam laughed ‘’what?’’ I said confused, glad he called me Baby Tommo, it made me think straight again. All I will ever be to these boys is Louis’ little sister Baby Tommo’’. ‘’I asked where Katie was’’ ‘’oh, she has the biggest crush on Niall so I set them up to dance’’ I laughed ‘’oh’’ Liam said and laughed himself. ‘’Oh my god I love this song’’ I yelled and jumped down from the counters but almost fell so Liam grabbed me ‘’come dance with me’’ I said and he guided me back to where were everyone was dancing. ‘Take me away’ by Plain white T’s was playing and I was in my right element. The music was right, the timing was right, it was my birthday and oh I only wish it was Harry here dancing with me instead. No. I don’t. Why are you thinking like this, Emma? Stop it. Liam leaned in and I almost thought he was going to kiss me but he whispered in my ear ‘’looks like your matchmaking worked’’ he pointed towards the couch where Niall and Katie were sucking each others faces. I let out a squeal and jumped making Liam throw his head back in laughs.

‘’There you are, thank god I found you. Lou’s is hooking up with some girl and left me’’ Harry said and I almost jumped at how he just popped up beside us. ‘’Lou’s hooking up with a girl? Define hooking up’’ I raised my eyebrows, I don’t even know why I asked. I don’t really care. ‘’If I know Tommo right he’s probably with the sluttiest girl banging the slut out of her in the upstairs bedroom right now’’ Liam said and both him and Harry laughed but I just looked at them disgusted. ‘’You’re pigs, both of you’’ I said before walking away. Why would they talk about a girl like that? Didn’t their mothers raise them right? God I hated guys like that. I don’t know Liam so I couldn’t really do anything about that but I expected more from Harry. I poured a drink with almost only vodka in in and drank it up fast.

Next thing I remember I’m leaning towards a tree not really sure where I am. I still heard the music from the party and soon realized I was in the backyard. ‘’There you are, sorry about that. That wasn’t a funny joke’’ I looked up to see Harry. At least I think it was Harry. God I’m really drunk. I reached out for him and stumbled my way over, he grabbed me before I fell over. ‘’Someone’s had a bit too fun tonight’’ Harry laughed and held me by my waist so I wouldn’t fall ‘’but that’s okay, it’s your birthday’’ I looked up at him and let out a giggle. ‘’Oh no I’m having a deja vu, are you gonna tell me I’m cute and you like my eyes and curls again?’’ he smiled making me giggle even more ‘’you know’’ I slurred and put my finger on his chest ‘’that is all true. You’re like the hottest boy at school. It’s a shame, really’’ I said ‘’why’s that a shame?’’ he asked ‘’because you’re one of my brother’s best friends’’ I simply said. He didn’t say anything we just stood there for a while ‘’ Harry?’’ ‘’yeah?’’ ‘’are you drunk?’’ ‘’yeah’’ he smiled, ‘’good, then you won’t remember this in the morning’’ I didn’t know where my courage came from, or should I say stupidness. But I pressed my lips against his, I panicked when he didn’t kiss back at first but then I felt him kissing back. As my first kiss I did pretty great, and it felt amazing.

A little funny thing, I got a tattoo today!! It hurt like fuck and I feel so bad for my friend who's hand I squeezed. But I'm so happy with the result :)
