Emma's p.o.v

I was heading to the school cafeteria a little late after walking around school looking for Zayn.
Who am I even eating lunch with today? I’m not friends with Katie anymore and the people I have been hanging out with the last week usually skips school. I walked in the cafeteria praying at least one of those people were in there, only to find they weren’t. What am I doing now? I’m not sitting by myself and I can’t just walk out, I already have my food. ‘’Emma, you wanna sit with us today? I have some news’’ Harry walked up behind me. Thank god. ‘’Sure’’ I smiled and followed him to their table. I sat down between Harry and Lou, who gave me an amused look. He knows I’d rather die than sit with my brother at lunch, well it used to be that way. All the boys greeted me and I didn’t even look at Katie where she was sat next to Niall.

‘’What are your plans for New Years Eve?’’ Harry smirked, he was definitely up to something. ‘’I figured someone would just throw a party that we would go to?’’ Liam said and took a sip of his coke, ‘’not quite, my dear friend’’ Harry said and I almost wanted to slap that smirk off his face ‘’spill it, Hazza’’ Lou said annoyingly making me chuckle. ‘’Fine, settle down everyone. My dad has a cabin near Cambridge. I used to be there basically every summer when I was younger and I know a lot of people there. We’ll throw a New Year’s party, and the best part? No parental supervision and no cops’’ the table turned quiet, ‘’do you know my family is Irish? They will never let me go with you idiots alone’’ Niall muttered. ‘’Yeah I’m not sure Emma and I would be allowed to go either’’ Louis said, making me kind of bummed out. It seemed like such a funny idea, but as everything else in my life my parents would never let me. ‘’Guys, do you think I’m stupid? I’ve already thought of that. My dad will call all of your parents inviting us there, they’ll think my dad will be there. No one has ever turned down Dex Styles, we’re going’’ once again we just stared at Harry before I made a little ‘woohoo’ sound making everyone laugh.

‘’How will we get there?’’ Liam asked, ‘’well, it’s a road trip of about three and a half hours. The ones that are actually allowed to drive, that excludes the two of you’’ Harry pointed at Katie and I ‘’will have to take turns driving’’ he continued. ‘’This will be fucking amazing’’ Louis gushed and the boys agreed. I liked the idea until I realized Katie was going too. I really regret now that I fixed her up with Niall. The conversation kept going about or trip over New years but I drifted off thinking about that I was going to spend the afternoon with my dad.

‘’Are you okay?’’ Harry asked a little lower so no one would hear, ‘’m’fine, why?’’ I gave him a weak smile. ‘’You get this concerned wrinkle on your forehead when you’re thinking about something that’s bothering you’’ he smiled, I let out a sigh ‘’I’m hanging out with my dad after school’’ ‘’are you nervous?’’ ‘’very, it will be horrible’’ I laughed. ‘’I’m sure it’s just nerves, you’ll be fine. You can always leave if it gets bad, right?’’ I nodded ‘’can’t really talk to Louis about it either, he says he wants to live with him’’ Harry was already in on the whole family drama thing-y so he knew what I was talking about. ‘’Let’s make a deal, you go to your little daddy daughter date, be nice and polite and afterwards I’ll meet you at the milkshake place. I’ll buy you a milkshake and you can tell me all about how horrible it was’’ his face formed in to a smile, showing his really cute dimples ‘’ugh fine’’ I groaned trying to sound annoyed with a smile on my face.


‘’It’s fine Lou, you can go Liam is waiting for you’’ we were standing on the school parking lot and I was waiting for my dad to pick me up, ‘’I’m fine, take your time’’ Liam said, I was so thankful for him at this moment. I really didn’t want it to be awkward when dad gets here, and now I have two people with me who wouldn’t make it awkward at all. ‘’I’m staying until he gets here’’ Louis simply said and just then dad pulled up. I swear my heart skipped a beat. He got out of the car and walked over to us, wearing a suit as always. ‘’Hey buddy, how you doing?’’ he said and ruffled Lou’s hair before turning to Liam ‘’hello, I’m Tom. Lou’s and Emma’s dad’’ he greeted ‘’Liam, friend of Lou’s’’ Liam said politely. Never heard that tone come out of that boy before. ‘’Ready to go, Princess?’’ he said to me and nodded towards the car, I closed my eyes for a second and took a breath, not wanting to lash out on him this soon. I hate when he calls me Princess, he doesn’t have the right to do that anymore. ‘’See you at home’’ I told Lou before following dad to his car.


‘’So are you meeting a boy here?’’ dad asked as he dropped me off at the milkshake place ‘’he’s just a friend’’ ‘’if you say so. I had a good time today, Princess. I just wanted to know I’m grateful that you take your time to spend time with me, after what I put you through. I’m sorry for that, for everything. And I love you, now go have fun on your date’’ he smiled ‘’thanks dad, and it’s not a date we’re just..’’ ‘’friends, I know’’ he chuckled. ‘’Bye’’ I said before leaving his car and heading in to the milkshake shop.

A smile formed on my face when I saw Harry sitting at a table waiting for me. ''So I already ordered for us'' he said and handed me a milkshake. I sat down and took a sip of it, ''how did you know I love bubblegum and oreo?'' it's such a weird combination he couldn't have guessed it. ''A little birdie told me'' he winked. Yes, he winked. Again.
‘’So, spill it’’ he said and slurped on his milkshake.
‘’It wasn’t that bad’’
‘’Really? What did you do?’’
‘’He took me to dinner and then we just walked around in a park talking. Felt like old times’’ I shrugged.
‘’Oh you ate? And here I am forcing down a milkshake in you’’ he laughed
‘’Hello, I always have room for dessert’’ I said while patting my stomach making him laugh even more. My phone made a sound and I grabbed it to see a text from Louis.

If you don’t hurry home I will continue watching one tree hill without you

‘’That little shit’’ I mumbled why typing in a response, ‘’something wrong?’’ Harry asked ‘’it’s just Lou saying he’ll continue watching this tv series we’re watching, without me’’ ‘’oh, do you want me to drive you home?’’ ‘’no, he’s an ass, he can wait. I told him I’ll be home in an hour’’ ‘’okay’’ he said.
‘’So that was the first time you talked about your dad today at lunch, how come?’’ I asked curiously and put down my phone, he shrugged ‘’he doesn’t live here, we don’t see each other that much. Nothing much more to tell. So that tv show you were watching, which one is it?’’ ‘’one tree hill. But I watch so much tv shows it’s crazy, I don’t even know how I manage to remember it all’’ I let out a laugh, ‘’My sister’s just the same. You know, you remind me a lot of her. Maybe that’s why I like you’’ did he just say that? Okay Emma, play it cool. ‘’Gemma said the same thing to me’’ ‘’when did you talk to Gemma?’’ ‘’that morning after the party, she drove me home’’ I smiled.

After awhile we had drank our milkshakes and were headed to Harry’s car. ‘’I can’t wait until the road trip to your dad’s cabin’’ I said as we jumped in the car, ‘’me neither’’ Harry said and turned on the engine. ‘’So what kind of people is it that you know there?’’ ‘’normal ones I can assure you. Anyways if everything goes as planned we’ll be leaving the 31th of December and staying until the 2 of January’’ I nodded ‘’sounds good’’.

He stopped the car outside my house and turned off the engine. ‘’Thanks for tonight, I really needed that’’ I smiled ‘’I was just being a friend’’ he shrugged but gave me a cheeky smile. ‘’See you tomorrow’’ I said before closing the car door behind me. I walked inside our house and found Louis asleep on the couch, I sat down beside him and he woke up with a scared expression on his face. ‘’Shit you scared me’’ he said and sat up, ‘’so how was it, Em?’’ ‘’it was okay, Lou. I think we’re gonna be okay’’ I said and met his eyes with a smile.
