Little Things

1 ~ The Day I Met Louis

It all went really fast, you see, the day I met him. Louis Tomlinson to be precise. I was 16, with divorced parents. At the time, living with my father was my only choice, so him, my stepmom, and I decided to take a vacation to Paris for their anniversary. I was all for it, considering I had no friends where I was, and I wanted to see more of the world around me. We ended up checking out London as well, and a bunch of other amazing places. The best part, which I didn't know would be the best, was when we were visiting Doncaster, England. I believe we were touring Sheffield, on our way to Leeds, when we took a wrong turn. Well, my dad and stepmom ended up liking it so much that they decided out of the blue that we should move there. Knowing that I didn't have any friends or family in Kentucky, I was very content and happy with moving to a completely different country. Maybe people would treat me differently in school there then they did in America.

We moved in, and on the second day, I discovered another 16 year old lived directly next door to me! I was happy but nervous at the same time. The thing is, when I'm first meeting someone, or getting to know them, unless I'm on a computer, it's very hard for me to associate like a normal human being. I found this out, because Danielle, my stepmom, had searched around the neighborhood with my dad, trying to figure out any job availabilities. They just so happened to invite the other 16 year old and their family over for dinner the same night.

I was writing in my room when Danielle knocked on my door. "Hey," she said.

"Hey," I replied. I turn to face her as she walked in.

"I'm sorry if this was a bit too soon, you know the move and all." I shrug.

"Not a huge deal. I mean, I didn't have any friends in Kentucky anyway." she nods.

"True, but I feel like this was a little rushed." I shrug.

"It's fine. I'm glad we moved. I just hope that the other teenager coming over tonight is at least nice." Danielle nods.

"I'm sure he will be." before I can say anything, she's out the door. She knows how I feel about meeting people, especially boys. With boys, it's harder for me to communicate, especially if he's cute. I take a breath.

"Okay, okay. He's not cute. Just put that in your head Ally." I look around. Damn, I was talking to myself. I sigh. I seriously had no life. I finish writing my paragraph, then hear the front door open. I hear greetings downstairs, then my Danielle yells to me.

"Allison! The Tomlinson's are here!" I nod to myself in the mirror, then head downstairs. As soon as I get down there, Danielle introduces me. "Okay, so this is Mark and Johannah Tomlinson, and that is their son Louis. I shake their hands then look at Louis. He has the most beautiful blue eyes I'd ever seen. Dammit, he was cute.

"Hi," Louis says shyly. I wave back with a small smile.

"Why don't you show Louis your room while I give the Tomlinson's a tour and get the dinner table set up?" I nod and Louis follows me to my room. I sit on my chair and wait to see what he does. He walks over to a picture with me and my real mom.

"Who's this in the picture with you?" I smile.

"My real mom."

"Danielle is your stepmom?" I nod.

"Well, I know how you feel. Mark is my stepdad." I smile. He then looks at a picture of my older sister, younger sister, and I. "Are those your sisters?" I walk over to him.

"Yeah."

"Where are they?" he asks looking at me. I look down. "Hey, you don't have to tell me. It's okay." I nod.

"No, it's fine. I just miss them, that's all." he nods. "They're in America." he nods again.

"You'll see them again, I just know it." I smile, and for some reason, I hugged him. He wasn't reluctant or hesitant to hug back though.

"Thank you Louis. I needed to hear that."

"You're welcome Allison." We engage in the hug for a few more seconds, then he lets go.

"You can call me Ally if you want." I tell him. He nods.

"Alright, Ally." We both laugh and then soon enough it's time for dinner. We all share stories, laugh, talk to each other about our Countries and families differences, and the whole night is just amazing. Soon enough though, it's time for the Tomlinson's to leave. Danielle is thanking them for coming over, as I say goodbye to Louis.

"It was really cool talking to you tonight," I say to him. He nods with a smile.

"Yeah, will I see you again?" I giggle.

"Of course, Lou."

"Lou?"

"Your nickname. You get Ally, I get Lou." his smile gets bigger.

"Cool." I giggle again, then the Tomlinson's are on their way. As soon as they're gone, Danielle pulls out what she always does when I hang out with a guy.

"You like him."

"No I don't."

"Yes you do. Nicknames? Come on, that's like 2 weeks into a friendship type thing. You both like each other, there's no denying that." I shrug.

"Anyway, dinner was awesome, but I'm tired, so I'm heading to bed." Danielle nods and I give both her and my dad a goodnight hug and kiss. "Love you!" I say. They reply that they love me too and I go to my room and shut the door. I open a new page in my diary and date it. I hadn't written in my diary in so long, because nothing interesting had happened.

Dear Diary,

Today was awesome! Well, this whole week actually! We ended up going to the UK to visit Paris for Danielle and dad's anniversary, but we went touring to London, Sheffield, and Leeds. We ended up stumbling on a place called Doncaster, and I swear, I'm really excited about living here. Especially since I met this really cute British boy. He lives next to door and I swear, if I wasn't such a chicken, I would ask him out. His name is Louis Tomlinson, and he's already the sweetest boy I've ever met. I don't know if this is young love getting to me, but I seriously hope it isn't. I want to get to know Lou. That's my nickname for him btw. He has Ally, I have Lou. That's how it's always going to be. Anyway, gotta go. I'm really tired, and I still have to get signed up for school. Peace for now,

Allison June Hayden

I ended my entry, and shut my diary. I smiled. Louis was seriously a cutie, and I really did want to ask him out, but I was a coward. I had no courage whatsoever to even have the balls to ask Louis out. Especially since he was the cutest boy I'd ever seen. I knew one thing though, he was going to be my best friend for a very long time.
