YOU AND I

At last, my third period-English. Aside from the fact that I love English, I’ve been waiting for this period was because I wouldn’t have to be alone. Niall and I had this period together. Before this I was all alone and miserable and I’ve had enough of it.

“Hey Harold,” Niall greeted me, taking a seat next to me.

“Hey Niall,” I greeted back,smiling and patting him on the back.

“So how’s your day been till now?” he asked innocently. I rolled my eyes at him and he chuckled. He knew I had to be alone before this.

“Sorry just kidding,” he said winking at me. I just shook my head.

“So, any luck seeing that girl again?” he asked me out of the blue.

“What? Who? What girl?” I asked. Of course I knew who he was asking about but I just wanted to make sure so I don’t blurt out any irrelevant stuff. Then, he would mock me to death.

“Oh, come on. You know what I’m talking about. I saw you looking at every girl entering the door and that’s not very likely of you. So I figured you were hoping to see that girl again,” Oh crap. He knew.

“Well, no. Actually I was expecting you, Niall,” I don’t know why but I wanted to cover up the truth. That girl might not even know that I exist while I’m here still hoping to see her.

“Awww that’s so sweet of you. But now fess up before I make a big deal out of it, ” he threatened me.

“Fine, yes. I was hoping to see her again. I mean I know she might not even be a senior or not in any of my class but still there’s no wrong in having hope right? And I know I still have some unfinished stuff with Jenna but this has nothing to do with that at all, trust me. It’s just that she’s new here and she doesn’t know about us and that’s got me thinking-,” I trailed off but noticed Niall wasn’t paying any attention to me at all.

“Nialler, yo-,” I started but he shut my mouth and turned my head to the door. It was that girl. I couldn’t believe my own eyes and looked at Niall. He grinned and nudged me.
She was with another girl. And she was smiling. I was glad to see she had made some friends. I mean like I was worried about not helping her earlier and now seeing her with a friend and not lost, it was relieving. And then she saw me and her expression changed which would probably mean that she recognized me. I waved at her, smiling. She waved back and quickly turned away.

Maybe she was still embarrassed with her mother earlier, I thought. Or she thought that I was a total freak, my inner voice added. However, I chose to go with the former one.

“I’m not saying at all. Keeping my mouth shut,” Niall said after a moment, zipping his mouth. I smacked him smiling and shaking my head. Maybe luck wasn’t totally against me after all.

“What now?” I asked Niall.

“What do you mean ‘what now’?"he asked me back.

"Should I like talk to her?”

Niall shot me are-you-serious look. “Yeah and cause a total chaos in this class. And wait, why do you want to talk to her?”

“Ummm, because we saw each other this morning and I don’t want her to think I’m a freak?” I said, not sure why myself. I just had this burning urge to get to know her. I know it was ridiculous but I just had it.

“Hey are you like a developing a thing for this girl?” Niall asked me in a what-so-not accusing tone.

“No no. Absolutely not. I just- You know what just leave it,” I decided. And before he could say anything tha class started. Perfect timing, I smiled to myself.
