Torn
Fearne Cotton
Both bands seemed to be constantly in and out of the dressing room having various interviews or mini photo shoots or even a couple of performances. On the whole I stayed within the safe confines of the dressing room, however every now and then Harry or Tom would talk me into going with them. It was fun watching them do there thing, seeing the interviewer get stressed as they would play up. As a general rule, there was usually one of the bands in the dressing room at all times. However when a knock came at the door, both of them were out having interviews, even the crew had gone to take a bit of a break and grab some food. Harry had already informed me I was to wait so the two of us could get food together seeing as I was his plus one. I sighed, put down the book I was reading and headed over to open the door. As I did so I did a bit of a double take. On the other side of the door Fearne Cotton was smiling brightly, looking as beautiful as ever in jeans and a white flowing top. Somehow I managed to crack out a broken hello.
“Ahh, you must be Roxy, hello I'm Fearne, although from what Harry has said, I think you may already know that.” She winked. I nodded, still a tad dumbfounded. “Mind if I come in?” I shook my head and stepped to the side, letting her in.
“Uh there isn't anyone here.” I informed her, indicating at the empty room, my eyes never leaving her.
“So I see, that's no problem, I'm happy to wait if that's okay with you?” Fearne turned to look back at me, where I was still stood with the door wide open. I nodded quickly, coming to my senses enough to shut the door.
“Uh do you want a drink or anything? The guys have quite an array.”
“A tea would be wonderful!” Fearne smiled, sitting down on the sofa, glancing over at my book. I nodded again and started to go through the motions of making a cup of tea. “Harry says you're really into unsigned music. Apparently you took him and the guys to a gig last night?” I swallowed a squeal. Harry had been talking to Fearne Freakin' Cotton about me?!!!
“Uh yeah I did. They seemed to enjoy it, at least up until they got mobbed.” I nodded, adding milk into Fearne's cup. I grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge while I replaced the milk and took her drink over. “It's a shame though, I'd told the Harry, Louis and Niall about Everybody Looks Famous who were headlining, and they barely got to see them.” I shrugged as I sat on the sofa beside her.
“That's such a shame.” Fearne agreed. She was silent for a moment, a thoughtful look on her face. “Hey, have you got any of their music? Can I possibly have a listen?” She suddenly asked. I nodded and grabbed my phone, setting down my water, searching through my music until I found Everybody Looks Famous. I selected my favourite track of theirs, Fiction and hit play. The two of us listened as the pop rock music filled the air.
As the song came to a close the door burst open revealing a topless Louis wearing a wide grin.
“THERE IS A JACUZZI!!!” He cheered, running in and heading towards the boys wardrobe. Fearne and I just sat there laughing at the madness. When I glanced back towards the door, Harry was already quickly closing the distance from the door to the sofa. A smile as soft as a tulip petal and as warm as a summer's day shamelessly danced over his lips. He sat down beside me, his arm stretching across the back of the sofa behind me. I gave him a shy smile, my cheeks warming up immediately.
“Roxy.” Fearne caught my attention again, I looked back to her as she spoke. “I've had an idea, and I would like you to be a part of it if that's okay?” She asked nodding towards my phone. My eyes narrowed as I tilted my head, curious at her idea.
“I'm listening.”
“Not now, I need to check some stuff out, but if I could have your number then maybe we can talk about it further?” Fearne suggested. I gave her a shocked look, it took me a moment to realise my mouth was open, and that was only because I heard Harry chuckle behind me.
“Uh, yeah, sure, if you're sure?” I nodded surprised. Fearne just laughed and handed over her phone. I popped in my number under my name, saving it and handing it back to Fearne. With that she jumped up, thanking me for the tea. Harry and I both stood up, she reached out and pulled me I in for a hug.
“He's a good egg, Harry. Look after him.” She murmured before letting go and turning to him. Did she think that we were....? I shook my head and turned to say goodbye as she was releasing Harry from their hug. Harry nodded at whatever she'd said to him.
“Oh I will, don't worry.” He grinned. It seemed to satisfy Fearne, as she bid us goodbye and left. Harry and I sat back down on the sofa, I bit my lip attempting to swallow the fangirling. A small chuckle fell from Harry's lips and he reached over pulling me into a hug, I wrapped my arm around his waist, my cheek resting on his chest. However almost immediately I sat up my head snapping towards the door.
“Roxy? What is it?” There was an edge to Harry's voice, it sounded like worry had slightly tainted it. I turned back to him.
“I thought Fearne was waiting to see you guys?” I replied curiously, wondering why she left so soon. Suddenly Harry was in a fit of laughter. I jumped a bit at his reaction, giving him a confused look, however I couldn't stop his infectious smile from upturning my own lips.
“She came to see you.” Harry explained as he calmed down, pulling me back against his chest.
“Pardon?!”
“We had an interview with her earlier on, and I was chatting with her, and well, you happened to come up. Fearne then started asking all these questions about you and in the end I suggested she came to have a chat, especially considering I know how much of a fan you are.” He shrugged as though it was the most normal, obvious thing in the world. I let myself sit there and process it all, while his hand ran through my hair. “It's okay you can let it all out now.” He murmured. I could hear that cheeky grin up on his lips, as I buried my face into his chest and let out a small squeal, the smile on my face ridiculously wide. I reached up and kissed his cheek. This time it was Harry's turn to blush.
“Thankyou Harry. That was really sweet of you.” I smiled. He returned the smile, his eyes holding my gaze for a while. The intensity of his stare held me in place, catching my breath in my throat. It felt like he was reading me, looking straight down into my soul, pulling up every thought and emotion right in front of him. It made me feel almost naked, with my feelings being placed in front of him so brazenly. I tried to distract my thoughts from how I was feeling, and instead focus upon the forest in front of me, dig through the greenery to try and find out more about Harry, try to read him and his thoughts as clearly as he was reading mine. However he seemed much better at guarding himself than I was, and instead of secrets and emotions, I just found more and more trees.
A weight on the sofa beside me was what finally parted us. Harry glanced behind me, his smile faltering slightly. I followed his gaze and found that Tom had joined us on the sofa. I dropped my arm from Harry's waist and turned a little to face him, smiling. Harry kept me close, his arm still around my waist, holding my back against his chest. It felt cosy like this, but I couldn't ignore the sharpness in the air that had appeared when Tom sat down. We were silent for a moment, Harry and I watching Tom, Tom's eyes trained onto the sofa.
“So how was the interview?” I asked, my voice cracking slightly as I attempted to break the uncomfortable silence, smiling gently at Tom. He glanced up at me, returning the smile.
“It was good thankyou. He was a decent dude, we had a lot of fun, there was randomly sung answers involved, food, and basically making fun out of Danny.” He shrugged chuckling a little, leaning back against the sofa.
“Sounds wonderful.” I smiled, picturing the interview in my mind.
“Did you have fun?”
“Yeah, just read my book for a while and then Fearne Cotton came in for a chat, thanks to Harry.” I grinned, Harry gave me a little squeeze as I mentioned about Fearne Cotton. I rested my hand on his, my thumb gently stroking the top of his hand, silently thanking him.
“Oh awesome.” Tom returned my smile, however his eyes were focused on Harry. I felt Harry shift beneath me. Thankfully a crew member appeared announcing that One Direction needed to go for their soundcheck.
“Want to watch?” Harry asked quietly. I nodded smiling as I sat up.
“Come on then.” He grinned, grabbing my hand and pulling me up, I giggled a little as I steadied myself before turning back to Tom.
“Coming?” I offered. Tom shook his head, talking about needing to write a song he'd got stuck in his head. I shrugged and said my goodbyes, before Harry pulled me out of the door and down the hallway.
Harry took me into the main arena and stood me by the end of the catwalk. With a quick kiss to the cheek he ran up the stairs leading up to the stage, ran back along the catwalk, onto the main stage before disappearing off to the right. He reappeared about 10 minutes later with the guys, all of them following a glossy, long, black haired lady with a headset and clipboard. She pointed at various parts of the main stage before leading them up the catwalk, still talking and pointing. When looking, the boys all paid her serious attention, but the minute her back turn, the four of them started to mess around, pulling silly faces, imitating her, or just being complete fools, but always keeping half an eye on her, so that when she turned back round, often very suddenly, they appeared as though they'd be listening the entire time. As they reached the diamond at the end of the catwalk by me, Harry caught my eye, grinning and winking. I shot him a smile back.
Once she had walked them through the routine the guys headed to their starting positions and the music started to play. I vaguely recognised the track, but I'd never really been a 'Directioner', and the name of the track escaped me.
Just before the music started, Niall had caught my eye and started doing some odd little dance, that actually fitted the beat pretty perfectly once the music did start playing. I couldn't help but giggle, however as the first vocals started my giggling quickly died down. The voice was warm and passionate. My eyes landed on Harry who was watching me intently, a blush painted my cheeks while I listened to him sing. There wasn't a smile on his lips now, his eyes were full of intense passion and seriousness. I hadn't seen him like this before, and I must admit, it was rather attractive.
I glanced across at the other boys as Louis took over, all of them had similar looks. It was clear how much the music meant to them. It was a wonder to watch them. My eyes landed on Niall as he started to sing, he winked at me and began to over act out the words, I couldn't help but giggle and raised my eyebrows at him. He just winked, grabbing the microphone from the stand and starting to run down the catwalk, the other three following him. As the song hit the chorus, I finally recognised it as their latest single, Drag Me Down. I'd heard it on the radio just the day before while I finished packing, before I left home to head to Birmingham for that fateful Christmas Market and the gig in the evening.
I quickly realised why Harry had positioned me slightly more on the left side of the diamond. I was stood almost directly in front of him. His eyes stayed focused on me the entire time, causing my cheeks to blush again as he sang. During the final chorus I was impressed as he carried the notes over the boys. As the song came to an end myself and a few crew members clapped them, Harry shot me a quick wink, while Louis bowed dramatically, thanking those of us who clapped. The woman with the clipboard was back, and got the boys to run over various parts of the song, talking into her headset regularly, generally directing the boys to various parts of the stage. Another ten minutes later and they were done. The four of them ran up the catwalk and jumped as high as they could off the end. I was gutted I hadn't grabbed my camera out quick enough, it was definitely a photo moment! Once they landed, Harry covered the short distance between us in mere seconds, his arms wrapping around my waist. I smiled up at him.
“That was amazing.”
“Thankyou.” He grinned widely as Niall appeared with a puppy dog look on his face. Harry glanced at him, instantly groaning and dropping his head on my shoulder. I gave Niall a suspicious look, as he turned the full look on me.
“I'm hungry.” He whined. I smiled, reaching out and ruffling his hair.
“Shall we go find you some food then?” I chuckled, feeling Harry's arms tighten as I suggested it. Niall cheered and started off. As Harry raised his head again, I gave him a questioning look, he sighed and rested his forehead against mine.
“I was hoping we'd have a chance to hang out without the others for a bit. I feel like I've not had much chance to properly talk to you since we arrived.” He moaned. I smiled a little and squeezed his forearms.
