Chapter 61

"Enola, cut it out." Harry said pushing my hands away from him. I glared at him then moved at him again. "Enola, stop it." Harry grunted again.
"It's your sister's wedding, your shirt should be buttoned more than it is." I replied buttoning up his shirt a little more. Harry combated me: as soon as I had his shirt buttoned to an acceptable point he just unbuttoned it again.
Harry grabbed my face and kissed my forehead, "Noli, it's fine. Gem doesn't care." I huffed as I stared up at him. He sighed and buttoned his shirt up more. I smiled brightly at him. He smirked and whispered so no one else could hear, "You're supposed to be trying to get me to take my clothes off." I giggled and hit him in the chest gently. Aubrey returned with the boys Sophia and Brynn.
"Hey, Harry with a mostly buttoned shirt. That's a new one." Liam chuckled as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
"Noli made me." Harry replied motioning to me. Aubrey gave me a strange glance.
I gazed up at Liam with a smile, "Is Darcy doing okay?"
He nodded, "She's loving it back there. Anne was putting make up on her and doing her hair. She's enjoying the attention."
I turned to Harry, "I'm gonna go check on her." As I tried to walk away Harry wrapped his arms around me from behind.
"Hey, she's fine. She's with my mum and sister. She's just fine. Stop helicopter parenting." Harry stated with a laugh. I glared back at him. "Come on, Enola. She's being watched by someone that's not us. Have fun. Go talk to the people you know." Harry urged as he released me. I noticed that Aubrey was looking at Harry and I funny. I rolled my eyes and slinked to Louis' side. Harry looked a little miffed by my actions but stayed quiet. Suddenly, I heard a voice I hadn't heard in a very long time.
"Vas happenin?" Zayn shouted from not too far away.
I looked up at Harry less than excited, "It's Zayn." Harry nodded and laughed. "Why did Zayn get invited?" I nearly whispered.
Harry's face dropped, "Noli, don't. Not today." I released Louis' arm and took my place next to Harry. I looked back at Aubrey for just a moment. She seemed annoyed that Harry now put his arm over my shoulders and was whispering in my ear. "Everything is okay between Zayn and I and the rest of the boys. You need to let it go, Noli." Harry murmured as Zayn said hello to Louis, Liam and Niall. I glared up at Harry. "Enola, this is about Gemma and not the rest of us. Leave it alone." I rolled my eyes and folded my arms over my chest.
"Who is this?" Zayn asked when his eyes landed on Aubrey. I stayed still and silent as HArry introduced Aubrey to Zayn.
"This is my friend Aubrey. Aubrey, Zayn." Harry spoke with a smile. I made a quiet puffing sound when Zayn hugged Aubrey loosely. Harry grunted and squeezed my shoulder, his way of telling me to stop acting up.
"Don't worry, E. I haven't forgotten about you." Zayn laughed as he turned to Harry and I again. I just stared at him. "You're still mad at me?" Zayn asked shyly.
I shrugged, "Well..."
"ENOLA!" Harry snapped at me. Zayn chuckled softly and reached out to me. Harry removed his arm from my shoulder as Zayn wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I'm sorry." Zayn muttered as he hugged me tightly. I gave in and hugged him back. "Maybe today isn't the day to work on it." Zayn suggested as he pulled out of the hug a bit.
I sighed, "I guess you're right." Zayn grinned and hugged me tight like before once again. "Apparently, we just invite whomever to these things now." I mumbled against Zayn's shoulder. Zayn pulled back and lifted his eyebrow. I gave him a blank stare. His eyes flicked over to Aubrey for a moment. Zayn's eyes fell on mine and I gave him a look that told him I didn't care for her presence.
"I brought someone that is so very excited to see you." Zayn stated trying to take my mind off of Aubrey. I stared at him confused. Zayn pointed to the edge of the room. My eyes lit up and I ran to the other end of the room.
"PERRIE!" I squealed running into her arms. "Oh my God, how are you?" I asked as we squeezed each other as tightly as we could.
"I'm so happy to see you." Perrie's voice broke a little as we stood still wrapped around each other.
"You're back with Zayn?" I asked refusing to let go of her.
"No. We're just here as friends. He heard that you were going to be here so he called me to come with. And I just adore Gemma." Perrie clarified.
"I reserve the right to still be mad at him for leaving you." I mumbled when Zayn came over.
"Fair enough." Perrie giggled and released me. "Where is Darcy? I want to meet her so badly." Perrie beamed at me.
"Yeah, where is that little angel?" Zayn asked looking around the room curiously.
I looked back at Harry, "Come on, Bear!"
"What? Why?" He asked backing out of his conversation with Aubrey and Liam.
"Zayn and Perrie want to meet your daughter that's why." I snapped at him, annoyed that he kept putting up a fight with me. Harry asked Aubrey to stay with the other boys while we went to see Darcy. When Harry came over to me he wrapped an arm around my waist then kissed Perrie's cheek lightly. "Let's go." I smiled taking Perrie's hand. Harry kept one arm around my waist as we walked toward the bridesmaid's room.
"Mummy! Daddy!" Darcy shouted seeing Harry and I enter the room. I swiftly picked her up and kissed her cheek hard. "Mummy!" Darcy squealed trying to push me away as I tickled her gently. Harry smiled brightly as his child laughed.
"Oh my Goodness! She looks just like Harry!" Perrie gasped as I turned to her and Zayn.
"I look like Mummy too!" Darcy whined.
Harry smiled and nodded, "Yes you do, babygirl." Darcy beamed back at him.
Perrie looked at me with awe, "Can I hold her?"
Harry laughed loudly, "She's four. You have to ask her."
Darcy leaned toward Perrie, "Come on, give us a cuddle." Harry and I couldn't control our laughter as she repeated what Louis always said to her. Zayn and Perrie laughed as well. Perrie reached out and took Darcy in her arms. Darcy happily went to her. She hugged Perrie tightly then rested her head on Perrie's shoulder.
"She's so big now." Zayn smiled as he stared at Darcy and Perrie.
I nodded, "I know it's crazy."
"Wait a minute. You've met Darcy before?" Harry asked Zayn.
Zayn smiled, "Yeah. It was brief but it was like right after she was born. I had been out of the band for almost six months. Enola and I ran into each other at the shops. I got to hold her for a minute. She was really small. Like, brand new. We had lunch and talked and I got to spend some time with a sleepy but happy baby." Harry's grip on my waist tightened. I quickly placed my hand over his and squeezed.
"Darcy, sweetie, we need to get your dress on you." Anne called out to Darcy. Darcy smiled at Perrie then kissed her cheek. I hadn't realized they'd been talking while Zayn was telling Harry about the day he met Darcy. Darcy then leaned over to Zayn.
"Bye Zayn." She grinned kissing his cheek gently. Perrie set Darcy down for her to run off to Anne. The four of us were then bombarded by Gemma. She was yelling at us to get out because the wedding was going to start soon and she needed a few minutes alone.
Harry kissed his sister's cheek, "You look beautiful."
She hit him lightly, "Don't try to charm me, freak. Get out."
I pecked Gemma's lips, "You do look amazing." Gemma blushed and thanked me. Harry gasped and gave her an exaggerated shocked face. "Come on, you big baby." I giggled pulling his suit jacket gently. As we walked back out to the rest of the crowd, I noticed the shift in Harry's mood. "Hey, talk to me." I murmured pulling him aside.

Harry sighed heavily as we took our seats, the wedding was starting and he looked so nervous. I sat between him and his mother. I liked where I was placed. I didn't have to sit by Aubrey and I could cry with Anne while we watched the precious girl get hitched. I crossed my legs in a polite, feminine fashion as the music began. Anne turned and smiled at me. She kissed my cheek gently as she took my hand in hers. I smiled warmly at her. We were both going to be a mess by the end of the ceremony.
Harry and I turned with smiles when it was Darcy's turn to come down the isle. She walked slowly just like Harry and Robin had showed her as she dropped the rose petals onto the floor. Darcy beamed when she saw Harry and I smiling at her.
She waved and said, "Hi Daddy." Everyone in the church chuckled.
Harry muttered a, "Hi baby." Darcy got to the end of the isle and Nick kissed her cheek lightly after giving her a hug.
"Go sit with Pops." Nick instructed. Darcy nodded and ran to Robin. Harry gripped my hand as we all stood. Gemma took her first steps onto the isle making both Anne and Harry squeeze my hands. I smiled and bit my lip. I knew it was wrong but I was hoping Aubrey was seeing it. She needed to know that I was the one in Harry's life. Not her. Yeah, I was slow going with him but we had many things to work out and a child to take care of. As much as I feared being with Harry, I knew it was where my life was headed. Gemma smiled brightly at her family and I as Desmond led her to Nick. We all sat as Nick and Gemma took each others hands.
Gemma inhaled shakily, she was getting ready to read her vows. Anne held my hand tighter again and we moved closer together. I glanced over to see Harry was relaxed, holding Darcy while Aubrey looked pissed. Her jaw was clenched and her eyes were angry. I smirked a bit. She was starting to get the idea. I returned my attention to Gemma and Nick.
"When you asked me to marry you, I said yes in a heartbeat. But as I showed off my ring and people asked me all of the questions about how romantic you were and how it felt, I started to wonder if this was really right. I started asking my friends and family how you knew when it was right. I got a lot of answers but the best one I received was from a wise ass freak." Gemma turned to Harry and giggled. Harry looked at her with furrowed brows and listened intently. "He told me you knew when your whole life played out in front of you. When you saw the next twenty years perfectly, even though they would be flawed. You know someone is right when all you want is to hear their voice after a long day, to have them hold you when you feel like the world isn't seeing things the way you are. When you want to see the world through their eyes because it will change you. To hear them laughing because it's the sweetest sound. When you know that they love you in the way they hold your hand or say your name. When you would give anything to see them smile on their worst of days and make an ass of yourself trying to accomplish it." Harry chuckled beside me. I quickly brushed tears off of my face. "I see the next fifty years of my life with you. I want to hear your voice at the beginning and end of my days." As Gemma kept speaking to Nick, I thought about what Harry told his sister. He described us. I tried to keep my cool as more tears ran down my face. I didn't want to start sobbing. Anne leaned over and kissed my temple lightly. I closed my eyes and tried to focus.
Nick's turn to speak, "You know, when I wrote this I didn't know you were going to go by Harry's guidelines." Gemma lifted her eyebrow in curiosity. "Because I did too." Nick chuckled. Anne looked passed me to her son with a smile. "I too asked him how you knew when it was right. He said, does she make you want to be a better man? Does she fill your mind at every moment? Do you wonder how she will react to your decisions? Do you go out of your way to make her day better? Do you just want to hear her voice when you're alone? When things get hard, do you ask yourself if it's worth it? HE told me the answer to every question but one should be yes. He said if you can't get through one disagreement without rethinking the choice you made, then there's no point. It should never be a question of worth. Because your worth, lies in her hands. There's only one woman in the world that can make you a good man, a better man." I gripped Anne's hand as she put her arm around me. I was seconds away from breaking down. Harry had made us his example once again. We broke up but our fates were tied together. I was meant to be with him. Charles was a bump in the road. I knew when I met Charles that he wasn't the one. Harry was. Harry and our daughter were everything.

Notes

It's soooo hokey I know. But hey, everyone get hokey once in a while.

What does Enola's reaction to Harry's "words of wisdom" mean?
