Chapter 36

MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T READ THIS CHAPTER IF YOU "WILL DIE" EASILY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. :)

All of us sat in the dressing room surrounding Darcy and Enola. We were watching Darcy squeal with delight as she opened every present. Almost everyone had gotten her some kind of butterfly. Darcy loved all of them.
I rested my head on my fist as I focused on Enola's sad yet nervous eyes. I hated that we had fought the way we did. I was supposed to be helping her through her daughter's big birthday, not making her cry over things that we couldn't change. She hadn't been the same since we had argued. I knew that Enola loved me. She showed me a new world, a new way of seeing myself and others. There was never a time when we were together that I ever doubted the way she felt about me. I knew that her relationship with Louis was like the ones he had with his sisters. They were both raising children of the same age. They leaned on each other for the support only another parent could give. My jealousy was ridiculous and I didn't know how to apologize for it. I couldn't worry about it now though. I had to focus on the beaming four year old on the floor. I had to do as I promised.
"Okay, baby, last one. This one is from Mummy." I stated handing Darcy the box. Darcy ripped it from my hands and tore into it. I chuckled as she shredded the wrapping paper. Darcy opened the box and stared at it with confused eyes.
She looked up at Enola, "The box is empty, Mummy."
Enola smiled, "I know it is baby." Darcy still looked confused. Enola pulled her daughter into her lap, "I wanted to give you something that couldn't be put in a box with pretty paper on the outside."
"A puppy!" Darcy exclaimed loudly.
Enola giggled, "Not a puppy." I chuckled when Darcy frowned. "I wanted to tell you about your daddy." Enola stated. My heart dropped. I couldn't listen to this. I moved to get up.
Louis held me down, "Just listen, Harry." I stared at him feeling angry and confused. Darcy beamed up at Enola.
"Maybe we should all leave?" Brynn suggested.
Enola shook her head, "No. Stay. Everyone wants to know this." Brynn leaned back against a smiling Niall. I tried to relax as I listened to Enola. "What would you like to know about your daddy?" Enola asked Darcy quietly.
"What does my daddy look like? Does he look like me?" DArcy asked softly.
Enola laughed shyly, "You are the spitting image of your father. He's got the same curly locks." Enola tussled her hair. "The same cute dimples." Enola pressed her fingers into Darcy's laughing cheeks. Enola gazed into Darcy's eyes, "And his beautiful green eyes."
"You like my daddy's eyes?" Darcy asked sheepishly.
"I love your daddy's eyes. I'm glad he gave them to you. So every time I look at you, I can see him." Enola's voice broke a little. My heart stopped. I couldn't believe she was telling Darcy she loved Charles eyes. I leaned back and thought for a moment. Charles didn't have green eyes. His eyes were a dark brown, like the stone that he was made of. I was confused. Charles didn't have dimples either, but then again, I never saw the man smile. "His eyes are amazing. A perfect hue, he has eyes like the sea after a storm." My breath caught a little. That's how she described my eyes. "So loving when he looked at me."
Darcy grinned, "How did you meet my daddy?"
"Daddy and I met while I was working. I was in a little room with a bunch of pictures and there he was. Standing across the room with some friends. He looked at me and I knew that I loved him." Enola murmured to Darcy.
"What was he like?" Darcy asked.
"He was a free spirited man with a fondness for quiet and peace of mind. He loved the finer things but he was a simple man. He loved the feeling of fingers in his hair, like someone else I know." Enola pressed her forehead to Darcy's with a smile. "He loved being carefree and romantic. He's artistic and charming. A smile that could light up and entire room. And his voice. He had a voice that could melt anyone. Deep and smooth." My heart was starting to race. "What else do you want to know?" Enola asked Darcy.
Darcy hummed, "Did you love my Daddy?"
Enola nodded, "I loved him very much. And I know he was over the moon for me. I'd never loved anyone the way I loved your father, and I didn't love anyone like that again until the doctors put you in my arms." I bit down on my lips.
"Did you and daddy have something you always said to each other? Like NiNi tells Brynn she's the only moon in his sky?" Darcy asked softly.
Enola nodded, "We did."
"What was it?" Darcy beamed at Enola.
"Don't let me go." Enola stated. My heart was beating out of my chest and I couldn't breathe. The room was closing in on me and my eyes were clouded with tears. Brynn, Sophia and Liam all gazed at me with shocked eyes while Niall and Louis were smiling at me. I couldn't breathe. Enola's eyes met mine and she smiled weakly. I got up from the sofa and moved out of the room as quickly as I could. I couldn't breathe. I had to find air.

I stood outside the dressing room tears threatening to fall down my face. I couldn't even cry. I didn't know what to think or what to feel. Everyone was filing out of the room suddenly. I couldn't hear anything and I felt like it was all a blur. Enola's eyes met mine again. She looked so confident as she walked toward me. Louis said something to her.
She smiled, "Please, just take her to the rest of the group. We need to talk." Louis agreed and scooped Darcy up in his arms. They walked down the hall a bit and joined the group of staff and friends. Enola came to me with slow steps. "Harry." Enola whispered. I looked at her intensely. "Harry. Do you understand what I told Darcy?" She asked gently. I looked over at the little girl quickly then back at Enola.
"She's...she's..." I placed my hand on my chest and tried to keep myself from crying. Enola turned me to face the boys and Darcy. She wrapped her arm around my waist as she stood behind me, resting her chin on my shoulder. She lifted my shirt a bit to stroke my hot, bare skin soothingly.
"Harry, look at her. Really look at her." Enola instructed me. "Baby, she has your hair, your eyes, your smile. She speaks the way you do. She can calm people the way you do." Enola murmured to me. "This is how I know that we were real. This is how I know that I loved you more than I loved my own life. I created a life with you. That is a reminder of you. OUR child. OUR wonderful, tenacious, emotional little girl."
"She's mine." I stated gazing upon the four year old's laughing face.
Enola nodded, "She is. You're her daddy. She's our baby." I turned to Enola, my hands on her hips. She placed her hands on my face and smiled. I gazed at her with loving eyes. "Harry. Please say something." Enola begged me.
"She's my daughter?" I asked again. Enola nodded with a small smile. Tears began to stream down my face. I fell to my knees, unable to control my own body. I pressed my forehead to her flat, toned abs and she held me tight as I sobbed.
"Harry, baby, ssshhh." Enola murmured sinking down in front of me. She held my face in her hands. "Harry, she loves you so much. You've already been acting like a father to her. She wanted you to be her daddy. The ball is in your court. What do you want to do?" She asked me.
"I just want you two. That's all." I cried gazing into her eyes.
"We'll tell her when you've got yourself under control, okay?" Enola smiled pressing her forehead to mine. I nodded and tried to concentrate on breathing while Enola stroked my hair to soothe me.

I sat beside the sofa Darcy was sleeping on. We failed to make good hotel arrangements for Enola and Darcy. So Darcy and Enola were going to sleep in the room that management always books for Louis. He refuses to sleep anywhere but the bus. Enola walked out of the bathroom and said my name quietly. She placed her hand on my shoulder as she stood beside me, watching Darcy sleep.
"Honey, you have to let her sleep." Enola murmured to me.
I couldn't look away from Darcy, "I just want to watch her. I wanna see her breathing."
"Harry, we're going to be here through the end of the month. You need your rest too." Enola murmured trying to pull me up from the coffee table. "Come on. Let's go to bed." She grunted pulling on my arm again. I stood and followed her away from the sofa. She led me into her bedroom. "Go on. Get undressed and get in." Enola urged me. I just sat down on the bed, exhaustion taking over me. Enola chuckled and got down on her knees in front of me. She carefully removed my shoes and socks. She stood then pulled my t-shirt over my head. "Lay back, Bear." She instructed placing her hand on my chest to ease me down. I did as told. She carefully unbuckled my belt before unbuttoning and unzipping my jeans. She gently pulled them down my legs. She laughed quietly, "I can see your friend hasn't lost interest in me." I looked down to see that I was starting to become aroused.
"Beautiful mother of my child undressing me, who wouldn't get a boner?" I replied laughing as well. Enola threw my jeans across the room and crawled onto the bed beside me. She laid on her side and held her head up on her fist. Her hand rested comfortably on my chest. "Noli..." I began.
She smiled, "Harry, we're going to go to sleep. Our daughter is in the next room."
I lifted my eyebrow at her, "If she was with Louis or Niall?"
"We'd still be going to sleep." She giggled. I frowned a little. "Harry, you are upset about Darcy. Well, upset is the wrong word. You're emotions are out of control right now. You don't need to add anything else. When you've got you and Darcy figured out as Daddy and daughter. We can see what happens with us. Darcy is more important." I stared at her blankly. "Darcy always comes first. Our happiness, our lives are secondary to hers. She is what we need to focus on. Okay?" Enola stated calmly. I placed my hand over hers.
I stroked her knuckles gently, "I love you, Enola. I don't care what you say. I am always going to be chasing after you. Even when Darcy is an adult. You're still going to be the fire that burns inside my soul."
She smiled gently and kissed my forehead, "I can't right now. Just give it some time." I nodded and focused on the feeling of her hand on my skin. "Come on. Let's go to sleep." She removed her hand from my chest and crawled up to the pillows. She shifted under the blankets then patted the bed beside her.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked quietly, climbing under the blankets with her.
She nodded, "I am. When's the last time you had a good cuddle, that didn't come from our child?" I chuckled a bit. Enola smiled, "It's fine. I'm still fully dressed and you have gained self control over the last few years." I couldn't help but sigh as she snuggled into my side. Enola draped her arm over my waist and intertwined her legs with mine. She let her fingers dance across my chest lightly.
"Can we talk?" I asked after a few moments of silence.
Enola gazed up at me, "About what?"
"Darcy. Your pregnancy. When you knew you were pregnant." I replied.
"I found out I was pregnant about two weeks after we broke up. I went to the doctor because I felt nauseous all of the time. At first I just thought it was because I missed you and was heartbroken but...I found out that I was nearly into my second trimester. The doctor thought I was nuts for not noticing before hand what with not having a period and all but I never paid any attention to mine because we were always going at it no matter what." Enola chuckled. I smirked as well as I let my eyes close. She kissed my cheek, "I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner. I should've told you when I found out or at least told you that she could be yours. I was just so scared that she wasn't."
I shook my head, "I think I knew. I think I've known this whole time. The love that I felt for her when she came barreling into the art gallery was so intense instantly. I think I knew I just didn't want to admit it."
"Why not?" Enola looked extremely sad.
"Because it's my fault she didn't have a father for so long. I should've let you tell me about your divorce and kept my mouth shut at the benefit." I replied quietly.
Enola shook her head, "NO. It's my fault too. When I told Louis and Niall that I was pregnant, I shouldn't have begged them not to tell you. I could've called you at anytime in the last four years to tell you about her. We both made mistakes." I nodded and tried to let it go. I started to feel a bit of anger. "I know why I didn't though." She muttered. I looked up at her with curious eyes. "I wasn't sure if she was yours or his. And I couldn't bear to see the look on your face if she wasn't. I never wanted this to happen. I think that I was also terrified of what would happen if I knew for sure that she was Charles'. I was afraid that he'd really take her or that he would make my life a living hell anyway." I frowned deeply. I wanted the truth no matter what. "I used to dream about you, you know." She murmured. I looked at her curiously. "When I was pregnant. I used to dream of you every night. I wanted so badly for you to be her father and I just couldn't deal with the thought of you not being her dad."
"Just when you were pregnant?" I asked in a teasing whisper.
She laughed, "I've started to again."
I lifted my eyebrow at her, "Oh yeah?" She smirked and nodded. "What kind of dreams?" I inquired.
She blushed a bit, "When I was pregnant, I would see you playing with her, holding her. There were some nights when my hormones made me dream of the crazy shit we used to do."
"Crazy shit?" I laughed quietly.
She nodded with a bright red face, "I remember dreaming about the side of the tour bus." I smiled thinking of it. "And the time we went to the rooftop of your hotel and Paul nearly killed us for sneaking off." She giggled.
I laughed, "That was fun." I looked at her with a mischievous grin, "I'm real outdoorsy, you know." She laughed loudly then covered her mouth. "Hey, be quiet. Our daughter is sleeping." I scolded her. I bit my lip after a moment.
"What?" Enola asked stroking my cheek lightly. My eyes met hers. "Why are you smiling like that?"
"How natural it feels. Our daughter." I repeated. Enola kissed my cheek gently. "She's really mine?" I asked her again.
She giggled, "Yes Harry. She's really yours." She frowned after a moment, "Can I ask something of you though?" I nodded quickly. "Would you...would you do another DNA test with her? Please?" I looked at her concerned. She sighed, "I...I didn't put anyone on her birth certificate. I know how the media finds shit like that. I didn't want to cause problems for you. But because I didn't put you down..."
"That ass is not laying a hand on my child." I stated with a mean tone. Enola frowned even deeper. "Or you." I added knowing the man had a horrible temper. "We'll go tomorrow. I'll call the hospital here and we'll go get it done. When we get back to London, you can change her birth certificate." I stated firmly.
Enola kissed my temple lightly, "I'm sorry Harry."
I nearly glared at her, "Don't be sorry. You didn't know he was going to do this. Don't apologize."
"But she's yours and we shouldn't have to do this." Enola said with her voice breaking.
I shook my head and kissed her forehead tenderly, "She's ours. He's not going to touch her." Enola nodded and buried her face in my neck. I fell asleep holding Enola, the way it was supposed to be.
