Chapter 34

I sat on the tour bus with a saddened face. I had just gotten off the phone with Darcy. She said that Enola was becoming more like the way she was. Very quiet and sad, crying herself to sleep at night. I did get the full account of what happened when she received the last bouquet of roses. Darcy said she cried for a long time as she stared at the card. Enola asked Darcy if she knew anything about the flowers. Darcy said when she told her mother the whole story, she began to cry all over again. I wanted to be there to comfort her. I wanted to be there to tell her everything would be alright.
"Harry, are you okay?" Liam asked sitting beside me. I smiled weakly. "I know, that I've not been completely on board with you and Enola getting reacquainted but I am still your brother. You can talk to me about anything."
"All of those flowers Enola was getting." I began. Liam nodded. "Darcy and I did that. She said that Enola had be very depressed, crying herself to sleep, just crying all of the time. Darcy picked out the flowers. I paid for them and sent her a note with the last one we were sending. She got the last one the day we left for tour." I explained quietly. The other boys were now listening as well.
"You sent her all of those flowers?" Louis asked with a huge smile. I nodded slowly. "She loved them. She would text me everyday when she got them asking if I knew who could've possibly done it. They made her very happy, if only for a few moments." Louis stated. I smiled a little to myself. "She called me when she got the last one. She was crying and asking why God ever let things like this happen to her. That she was a horrible person and didn't deserve it." Louis frowned as he recounted the conversation. "I'm assuming she was talking about the fact that you're still in love with her." I frowned and rubbed my face, trying to contain my emotions.
"I asked them to come out for Darcy's birthday." Niall stated. My eyes shot up to his. "She agreed. Darcy's been missing you quite a lot." I nodded quickly. "Are you excited or what?" Niall asked. I just smirked and picked up my phone. "You cannot tell Darcy. It's a surprise. Enola told her they are taking a vacation but she won't tell Darcy where." Niall stopped me from calling Enola. I frowned and put my phone back into my pocket. "She'll be exited to see you. Enola won't say it but she misses you too. I can hear it in her voice. In the way I hear her locking and re-locking doors when I talk to her before she goes to bed at night. You make her feel safe." Niall informed me.
Louis laughed, "Yeah, she's grown accustom to you sleeping on her sofa." I laughed as did Liam and Niall. "She does love you, mate. Don't give up on her."
"Who said I gave up? I took a step back because she's a mother. Another life is dependent on how she lives hers. She needs to figure herself out at her own pace." I repeated my mother's words. They proved to be very helpful. Enola and I had grown closer but I never let my emotions run away.
Liam looked surprised, "Now where did you hear that?"
I smiled, "My mum. We talked the day that I did gifts with Darcy. She and Robin were very helpful. I mean, they would know all about dating and love with kids involved right?" The boys agreed. Louis and Niall exchanged a glance that made me extremely curious.

I stood at the gate with Liam, Niall and Louis. We were waiting for Enola and Darcy to arrive at our venue. It was DArcy's birthday. She was now four and still as vivacious as ever. I dug my phone from my pocket. Niall and Louis looked at me curiously. I smiled and dialed Enola.
"Hello?" She answered with a tired voice.
"Hey. Can I talk to her?" I inquired gently.
"We're going to be there in like two seconds." Enola sighed heavily.
I smiled, "Yeah, I know but...come on. Just let me talk to her. I'm not going to give it away." Enola grunted then agreed.
"Harry!" Darcy shouted into the phone with excitement.
"Hey baby girl. Happy birthday!" I shouted loudly. Darcy giggled and thanked me. "What are you doing on your birthday?" I asked.
"We're on wacation." Darcy answered with more excitement.
"Oh, where are you and Mummy going?" I asked with a smirk as I saw their car in the distance.
"I don't know. Mummy said it was a surprise." Darcy stated, sounding a little bit annoyed with her mother.
"Well, look out your window and tell me what you see." I instructed looking over at the boys.
Darcy hummed for a moment, "I see big buildings like at home. I see flags that are red and white and blue. I see people. I see a big big big building in front of us." I smiled seeing the car pull into the gate. She was close enough to see the boys and I.
"Okay, look out your window again, who do you see?" I asked with a genuine smile. I saw her little eyes peak up over the side of the car. The green orbs lit up.
"HARRY!" She squealed loudly. I had to pull the phone from my ear. She hung up on me and I saw her yelling at Enola. I could see Enola laughing as she stopped the car. I stayed in my placed as did the other boys. Enola rounded the car and opened the door. I could hear Darcy begging to be let out of her car-seat. As soon as Enola got her out and closed up the car, she set Darcy down. The little girl came running at me with open arms, screaming my name. I picked her up and swung her around, eliciting another squeal.
"How's my baby?" I asked her with a huge smile.
"I'm four now!" She shouted at me.
"I know. I'm going to have to stop calling you baby because you're such a big girl." I teased her.
Darcy glared at me, "No." She touched her chest, "Baby girl."
I chuckled and kissed her lightly, "You will always be my baby girl." I looked over at the boys. All of them looked a bit upset by the lack of attention. "You should say hello to Uncle Louis and NiNi. Liam's looking a little sad over there." I stated setting her down. She nodded and ran to the boys. I turned to see Enola trying to get somethings out of the car. I sighed and walked over to help her. I took the bag from her hand, "Hey Noli." I smiled when she looked at me a bit startled.
She relaxed and grinned a bit, "Hi."
"How are you feeling?" I asked her as I took another bag from her hands. She lifted her eyebrow at me. I laughed, "Come on. I'm nearly twenty five and my mother still has mini breakdowns on my birthday."
She shrugged, "I'm okay right now. I don't know what I am going to do next year. She's going to start school next fall and I just...you may need to have a full psychiatric team on stand by." We both started to laugh as we walked back toward the boys.
"When do I get presents?" Darcy asked with a bright smile, even though her stance had attitude.
"You get presents after the sound check. Right now, we get cake and your favorite meal." I informed her with a bit of attitude myself. Darcy grinned and clapped her hands. When I looked up I saw Enola speaking with Louis. A fire built in my chest again. I was starting to dislike how close they were.
"Darcy, let's go! Wanna play on the go-carts?" Niall asked her with a bright smile. I looked over at Enola who appeared apprehensive. "E, it's perfectly safe." Niall tried to assure her.
She folded her arms over her chest, "Not with you driving."
Liam laughed and pointed at Niall before saying, "I can take her." Enola agreed after that. Liam picked Darcy up and carried Darcy toward the building. I followed behind them with a smile as Darcy asked Liam is they could go fast in the go-carts.
"Mummy! You coming?" Darcy shouted when she noticed Enola was still standing next to Louis.
"In a minute baby. I have to talk to Uncle Louis for a minute." Enola replied with a nervous smile. I grunted quietly and nearly stomped into the building. I hated that she wanted to be alone with Louis. I knew that it was ridiculous to be jealous but she only spent a minute talking to me.

Enola and I sat on a crate off to the side while Louis, Niall and Liam took turns riding the go carts around the building. The silence between us was very uncomfortable.
Enola sighed heavily, "Harry, what's on your mind?" I shook my head and stared straight forward. She rested her chin on my shoulder and rubbed my back. "Talk to me. We've always been good at that." She urged me.
"What's the deal with you and Louis?" I asked shyly.
She shrugged, "We're close friends. Same as with Niall. They were a big help when Darcy was smaller and while I was pregnant. They are one of my ties to you."
"One of them?" I asked questioningly.
She smiled, "I have a few. Louis and Niall. My creations." I huffed and turned away from her. "What? You think that I would...be with Louis?" She asked. I just shrugged and kept my eyes down. "Harry Styles, you are simultaneously the most observant and oblivious man I've ever met." She giggled. I glared at her. "Harry, I loved you. I would never ever do that to you. I wouldn't ever hurt you like that. I've done some shitty things but that will never be one of them."
"Well, how am I supposed to know that? You've left me for someone else before." I murmured without thinking.
"You're joking right?" Enola asked backing away from me. "You wanna talk about this now?"
"When else are we going to talk about it? I'm sitting here fucking dying because I miss you so much and you act like I'm not... like we never loved each other. What the fuck Enola?" I asked her, my anger igniting.
"Harry, please." She had sorrow filled eyes that were begging me to let it go.
"No. Either you still love me the way you did or you never loved me at all." I nearly shouted at her. "And I'm leaning toward the fact that you never loved me at this point. Because I am not fine, I'm not fine at all. And how can you be if what we were was real?" I wanted to start crying.
"I never loved you?! Are you serious?" She shouted jumping from the crates.
"You walked out! Not me!" I shouted back at her.
She held back her tears, "You told me to leave. You said it was over."
"Because you weren't mine completely!" I lost my cool. "Every time you left my bed you went back to his."
"You think I wanted to be degraded and humiliated? I loved you Harry. I was going to show Charles the divorce papers when we got back from that stupid benefit! But no! You had to open your drunken mouth! I was leaving him!" She threw her scarf at me and my jaw dropped. "I came to tell you that I showed him the goddamn papers and left. But you told me to get out. You told me you couldn't be with me anymore." Her voice broke. "I am sorry I didn't tell you before then. I am sorry I wasn't honest the day we met. But I loved you. I've done things with you that I will never ever do with another man as long as I live." She began to cry but I wanted more explanations.
"Like what? You turn your love on for everyone. That's who you are. How am I supposed to know that anything you did with me was ever a real sign of love." I asked harshly. She looked away from me and wiped her face. I gripped her shoulders tightly, but not enough to hurt her. I wasn't going to be like Charles. "Enola, answer me."
A sob shook her body, "I'm done with this, Harry. I can't do this in front of my child. I can't." I looked over to see Darcy was watching with fear stricken eyes. I released Enola's shoulders and stepped back.
"Noli." I murmured realizing that I had lost my temper again. The same way I did at the benefit she spoke of. "Baby." I pleaded as she ran away from me. I groaned loudly and ran my hands through my hair. I kicked the crates we had been sitting on.
"Harry?" I heard Darcy's little voice behind me. I looked down at her sad face. I knelt in front of her and took her little hands in mine. "You made Mummy cry." She stated quietly.
I nodded and whispered, "I know. I didn't mean to. I never want Mummy to cry."
"Why were you fighting?" Darcy inquired.
I sighed, "Because I love your Mummy and she doesn't love me back."
Darcy frowned and touched my face, "Yes she does. Mummy tells me that she loves you all the time. We always talk about how much we love you." I laid my head on her little hands and started to cry myself. "Harry, please don't cry. Mummy will still love you." Darcy pleaded softly. I lifted my head and smiled at her.
"I love you, baby girl. You know that right?" I asked her quietly. She nodded with a smile.
