Chapter 30

I woke to the sound of Enola's voice. I shifted only to realize that she was still in my arms. I smiled a little. She begged for me to hold her the way I used to. I was hoping that I was winning her back, even if it was just a little at a time. I opened my eyes to see that Enola was still sleeping. I chuckled when she started talking softly again. I turned a little more so I could see her face better. I held in laughter as Enola began talking about something completely ridiculous.
"No. No. We can't give the monkey a bath in the toilet." She sighed and snuggled closer to me. "Harry." She whimpered after a moment.
"What, baby?" I asked quietly, trying to see what she was dreaming about.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Enola's bottom lip began to quiver. I frowned. Her silly dream was turning into a nightmare.
"For what?" I inquired, wanting to get to the bottom of her dream.
She placed her arms around herself, "I'm so sorry." I furrowed my brow. "I can't. I don't know. " She started to cry quietly. I decided that I'd had enough.
"Noli. Noli, wake up." I shook her gently. "Come on, Noli. Up." When she stirred and her eyes began to open.
"Harry?" She questioned. I smiled at her lovingly. "Harry." She repeated sounding relieved.
I brushed her hair off her face, "Hey. You started to cry in your sleep." Enola grunted softly and cleared her face of the tears. "Come on. Let's get up and let the monster sleep." I suggested to Enola. She nodded and we got out of the bed carefully.

Enola and I sat at my island, eating breakfast together. It felt so normal. Like we had done it everyday for the last five years. I set my fork down beside my plate and gazed at her intensely as she sipped her tea.
"Noli." I murmured.
She giggled, "Harry."
"What were you dreaming about?" I asked bluntly. Enola turned her eyes away from mine. "Enola, do you want me to repeat what you said in your sleep?" She didn't say a word and she didn't look at me. "You said that we weren't going to give the monkey a bath in the toilet." I chuckled.
Enola laughed loudly, "When Darcy was two, my mom gave her this stuffed monkey. Darcy had gotten something on him and her thought was to stick him in the toilet to give him a bath. He fit in it and she could reach it. I dream of it from time to time. I think because it was so funny."
"And the part when you said my name and told me you were so sorry?" I asked cautiously. Enola dropped her eyes from mine again. "You apologized over and over. You said you didn't know. That you couldn't."
"It's nothing Harry." Enola sighed heavily, obviously not wanting to talk about it.
"Noli, you only talk in your sleep when you're stressed out. What were you dreaming about?" I insisted.
"Harry." She huffed, running her hand through her hair.
"Enola. Just tell me. I just want to help." I said trying to ease her discomfort.
"I don't remember really. Probably something about five years ago." Enola stated like it was no big deal.
"Enola, tell me what you do remember dreaming about?" I asked her trying to get to the bottom of whatever she was hiding from me.
"I think it was about one of the days you heard Charles being a jerk or something." Enola stated looking down at the counter top. I gave a single nod. I felt bad for pushing so hard. I scooted closer to her and placed my hand on her face. I stroked her cheek gently.
"I want you to stop apologizing. He is not a good man and I don't hold any of his shit against you, okay?" I spoke softly.
"No. He's not. But I made bad choices. There's no denying that." Enola murmured.
I shrugged, "So did I." Enola shook her head and dropped her eyes from mine. "Noli, it's okay. I'm not mad about anything you did. Charles...well, I think I would still try to take his head off if given the chance." I was trying to make her laugh but it wasn't working. "Let's not talk about it now anyway." I muttered. Enola's shoulder's sagged in relief. "Did you bring the book I was supposed to read to Darcy?" I tried to change the subject. Enola nodded and stood. She walked out of the room for a moment.
"This is it. She really wanted it so you could read it to her." Enola informed me as she set the book down on the counter in front of me. "She pointed to it and said "Harry would read that to me Mummy". It was really cute." Enola smiled as she spoke of it. "I love how good you are with her." Enola stated after just a moment.
"She's a little you. It's not hard to please her." I responded quickly. It was true. Darcy was very much like her mother. Enola gave me a look that said she disagreed. "She is. She's very down to earth and she pays attention to detail. She's too smart for a three year old if you ask me."
"I want her to be smart. I don't ever want her to have to rely on someone else to take care of her when she is older, unless it's me of course, her father maybe. I don't want her to end up feeling stuck the way I did." Enola's tone was extremely sad.
"And that's why you're an amazing mum." I whispered. Enola blushed and turned her eyes from mine. "What's this book about?" I asked opening it up. I didn't want to make Enola uncomfortable again.
Enola giggled, "A dancing Giraffe." I lifted my eyebrow when she started to really laugh. "I thought she picked it because you can't dance either but you do it anyway."
"I can't dance?" I asked Enola with a hurt face. Enola smirked and nodded. "Can't dance my ass." I grunted and stood quickly. I left the room smirking the way Enola had been. I spent only a few minutes in the living room, messing with my sound system. I grabbed the remote to the stereo and dashed back to the hallway. I knew that what I was about do was absolutely ridiculous but I'd done it before. I also knew that it was ridiculous because I had done it while Enola and I were still together.
I took a deep breath as I stood against the wall next to the entrance of the kitchen. I peeked into the kitchen to see Enola sitting silently on the bar-stool. She caught a glimpse of me and pulled her bottom lip in. I smirked more and ducked back into the hall. I pressed play on the remote then set the remote down on the table next to me. As the music started, I curled my leg around the door frame, trying to be seductive. I heard Enola choke on a laugh. I tried my hardest not to laugh as I rounded the corner in the most alluring way possible. I gripped the wall and slid down it teasingly. Enola bit her lip as I stepped toward her to the beat of the music. I moved toward Enola, shaking my hips at her. I could see how hard she was fighting laughing at me. I held back laughter myself. My plan was working, even though I was making an ass of myself. Enola pulled her hair over her shoulder and pretended to fan herself as I began to thrust and gyrate my hips. I then placed myself between her knees, still dancing like an idiot.
Enola placed her hands on my chest and giggled, "You are the most ridiculous man I have ever met." I kept up my stupid dancing as she wound her arms around my neck.
"Still think I can't dance?" I asked her with a goofy grin.
"Yes." Enola was still giggling. My face dropped and I stopped dancing. "It's not your dancing skills that I fell in love with." I felt my cheeks turn bright red. I hummed quietly, urging her to keep talking. She shook her head, "I fell in love with that stupid smile you're wearing and that laugh I keep hearing this morning." I gripped her arms gently as I gazed into her eyes.
"You know," I began. "I fake dancing so badly." I stated softly.
Enola gazed up at me with sultry eyes, "Now why would you do that?"
"To hide how good I am at making love to you." I nearly whispered, inching even closer to her. I felt Enola slid her leg around mine. I gripped the buttons of the shirt she was wearing, pulling her just a little bit closer. I could feel her softening against me, the way she did before. I leaned in, and even though my head was screaming at me that it was a bad idea, I wanted to kiss her.
"HARRY!" Louis voice broke Enola and I out of our moment. I released her shirt and took a few steps back, her arms falling from around my neck. Louis and Liam then barged into my kitchen, smiles plastered on their faces.
"Hey guys." I greeted Louis and Liam with a half smile. I was upset that they had ruined yet another moment between Enola and I.
"Good Morning Harry." Liam sounded so happy to see me. I just chuckled and shook my head.
"Morning E." Louis said as he leaned over and kissed Enola on the lips.
"Morning Lou." Enola replied kissing him back. I felt my heart clench in my chest. Anger filled my veins. What was with those two? She was just playing with me the way we used to when we were together and now she was kissing on Louis? I shook the thought from my mind and tried to calm myself. It was innocent. I was just being ridiculous because the moment between us was spoiled once again. Louis was my best mate.
"E. You look lovely this morning." Liam stated kissing Enola's cheek. Enola blushed and pecked his cheek quickly. Anger flooded me once again. Liam's greeting contained a kiss but not like the one Enola and Louis shared. I dropped my plate and silverware into the sink, releasing some of my anger. I noticed Enola jump a bit at the crashing sound. I turned to see Louis and Liam staring at me with curiousity.
"What?" I snapped, not liking the way they were looking at me. Louis and Liam turned back to Enola with smiles.
"So...why are you looking so incredibly beautiful this morning?" Liam asked Enola, leaning on the counter next to her.
"Well, I see she's in Harry's t-shirt. And I don't see or hear Darcy." Louis was smirking. He then faked a gasp, "Enola Moon!" Louis moved in closer, "What did you and Harry do last night?" I felt my face flush red at the suggestion.
"Louis, stop being a child." Enola huffed at him.
Louis looked over at me and his smirk got bigger, "Why is Harry blushing then?"
"Seriously, Louis. Harry has always blushed when sex gets brought up." Enola replied swiftly.
"Yeah, that's what it is." Liam joined in on the teasing. Just as I opened my mouth to speak, Darcy came running into the room. I smirked smugly at Louis and Liam.
"Harry!" Darcy shouted running into my arms.
"Hey baby girl." I beamed picking her up. "How did you sleep?" I asked her after kissing her forehead.
"Well. I like your bed. What are we going to do today? Can we go to the park? Can we go to that restaurant that I like for lunch? And I wanna get ice cream like we did on Monday. Can I call Nana today? I think Nana would like it if I called today. Oooooh! I can tell Nana about the zoo and dinner and the presents we made for Mummy and our sleepover." Darcy spoke a million miles a minute.
"How about we start with breakfast?" I laughed and pointed to the plate next to Enola's.
"What did you make?" Darcy asked with a raised brow.
I chuckled again, "I made you waffles." Darcy clapped loudly. I couldn't hold in my smile as I set her on the bar stool next to Enola. I kissed Darcy's hair as I went to get her breakfast.
"So domestic of you, Harry." Liam teased.
"He's quite domestic actually. The man can cook." Enola said in a completely honest tone. I chuckled and shook my head again as I made Darcy a plate. I turned and set the plate in front of Darcy. She got giddy all over again. I pulled the plate back as she got ready to dive in.
"Where's my thank you?" I asked Darcy with a playful smile. Darcy stood up on her bar stool and leaned over the counter.
She kissed my cheek, "Thank you, Harry."
"Welcome baby girl." I smiled and kissed her nose. Darcy leaned over even more then wrapped her tiny arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. I held her as close as I could. When I noticed the look of sadness on Louis' face, I decided to be playful with Darcy. I growled and pretended to bite her arm gently. It quickly turned into me attempting to bite her shoulders.
Darcy squealed with laughter, "DADDY!" In an instant, every heart in the room shattered into a million pieces. My eyes met Enola's and I could see that she was about to cry. Louis and Liam both looked away from Darcy and I, both of them were uncomfortable. I pulled back from Darcy. When I looked at her, she was blushing. I smiled weakly.
"Sit down and eat, sweetie." I instructed. Darcy quickly sat down and started eating.
Enola stood from her stool, a tear slipping down her cheek, "I'm going to get dressed." I just nodded. I didn't know what to say to make her feel better. Enola walked out calmly but I could tell that she was itching to get out of the room.
"I'm going to make sure that she is okay." Louis announced before following after her. Liam just stood by the table awkwardly.
"Come sit with me, Liam." Darcy requested sweetly. Liam grinned and took a seat beside Darcy. As Darcy continued to eat and talk to Liam, I could hear Enola and Louis arguing in my bedroom.
