The Hipsters and The Girl

Meeting Paul.

Louis’s POV

“Have you decided if you're coming with us yet?” Paul, my manager, asked Alex across from across the room.

“I haven't. I currently have a roommate and if I leave, she’s going to have trouble with paying for the apartment and everything else and I don’t want to do that to her. We’ve become close since I moved here.” Alex seemed shy about her answer, I was only there as a buffer for her.

“Where do you work now?” The great thing was, I could read both of them like open books.

“A coffee shop inside a bookstore.” I looked at Alex and saw that she seemed happy.

“I have an idea…” He paused, obviously thinking about what or how to say it. “You could come ‘work’ with us on the road. Your job would just be to make sure they’re comfortable.”

“Really? Doesn’t someone already have that job? I don’t want to take someone else’s job.” She was being too modest.

“Yea, someone HAD that job but she decided to stay back, get married and start a family. Please Lex.” I started begging, more with my words than actions.

“But I wouldn’t even know what to do.”

“Basically, you’ll be getting paid to keep them company and make sure they’re comfortable.” Paul was really trying to sell her on it, that’s when I finally understood that he liked her. “And since you wont need all of the money you make, you can send some back for your roommate.”

“Come on Alex.” I smiled at her.

“Louis, shhh.” He hushed me and then looked over at her. “You can take a few days to think about it.”

“Thank you.” She was so polite to people she didn't know and it was funny to watch.

“You're welcome.” He looked down at his watch. “Wow, I really need to go. I have a meeting but it was great to meet you.”

“You too.” She smiled.

“I’ll understand if you decide to stay, don’t feel obligated.” He sounded genuine as her stood up to leave. “I really must go.”

“Thank you so much.” She stood up to shake his hand.

“You're welcome. Goodbye.” He turned and walk to the door.

Once he was gone, she turned to me with a smile. I knew that she was going to take the job but I had to hear her say it. She reached out to help me up so I took it and stood. Now towering over her, she looked up at me with a smug smile.

“I need to talk to Lindsey about it but…I’m pretty sure that I’m going with you!” She blurted it out.

“Yay!” I wrapped my arms around her waist and lifted her up.

She giggled when I spun her around, I laughed too and just pulled her closer. When I finally set her down, she sighed and looked at me with that same, eager look she gave me when we were little.

“Louis, you're amazing.” She smiled.

“I know.” I teased. “I just wanted to get you to come with us because I don’t want to lose you again. The last 3 years have been so difficult.”

“Yea, I know the feeling.” She rolled her eyes while I brushed the hair out of her face.

“You’re seriously the most important person to me.” The words just rolled out, there was no stopping them.

“And you're the most important person to me.” Her brown eyes were filling with tears. “Please never leave me again.”

“I wont.” My hands cupped her cheeks so I could wipe the falling tears away.

“Promise?” Her voice was almost a whisper now.

“I promise Alex, I won’t leave.” I leaned down and pressed my lips to her forehead.

She coughed and laughed slightly before leaning back to look me in the eyes. I watched her wipe her cheeks dry and then stand up straight.

“Can we go home? I need to talk to Lindsey and pack.” A smile grew on her face again.

“Yea, come on.” I smiled down at her as she slipped her arm around mine and rested her head on my shoulder as we walked toward the door.

Alex’s POV

“I kinda need to talk to you about something…” I mumbled looking over at Lindsey as she chipped away at her nail polish. “How would you feel about me leaving?”

“What do you mean by leaving? Is it ‘cause of the Harry thing?” She sounded hurt which reminded me that we hadn’t talked since our argument. “I’m really sorry about that, it isn't important enough to leave over.”

“It isn't because of that, I’m sorry about that. It’s your life not mine, make your own decisions.” I shrugged and looked around the room, trying to think about how to say it.

“I am too. I wont do it again, I need to respect that they're your friends which means they're off limits.” The smile on her face, faded. “So, why do you want to leave?”

“I want to go on tour with the guys, I don’t want to lose Louis again. His boss even offered me a job and since I wont need the money, I will send it back to you so you don’t have to pay for everything on your own.” I bit my lip nervously.

“I understand that.” She nodded and looked at me as I stood up. “He’s like family to you isn't he?”

“Him and his mom are the only real family I have left.” Since the divorce, I didn't consider my parents family.

“I get that. How long will you be gone?” She watched me reach for my bag from the closet.

“2 months” I saw her smile fall.

“Oh” Was all she said before standing up. “I’m gonna miss you.”

I stopped what I was doing to look at her. Her eyes were filling with tears while I walked over to her.

“I’m gonna miss you too.” I wrapped my arms around her small body and pulled her toward me.

She signed, resting her chin on my shoulders. I forgot that she was younger than me so I always treated her like I would treat anyone my age. Her looks and personality deceived me, and everybody else, about her age. She just turned 18 a month ago while the rest of us were 19 or 20 or even 21.

“I’m gonna go downstairs and make dinner.” She sniffled and pulled back.

I nodded and watched her go, but of course, she left the door open. Shaking my head, I started packing my bags.

“Alex?” I quiet voice called from the stairs as the footsteps got louder and stopped at my door. “Can I come in?” I looked over to see Zayn standing in the doorway.

“Sure” I nodded watching him come in. “What’s up?”

“Nothing. So, I’m guessing that you’ve made a decision?” He smiled and I nodded. “Great. How did it go with Paul today?”

“Pretty well, he offered me a job with you guys so I could send money back for Lindsey.” I started putting all the clothes I set out to pack, into my bag.

“A job?”

“Yea, he said all I’ll be doing is keeping you guys company and make sure you guys are comfortable.” I still didn't get the comfortable part but I didn't care, all I cared about was that I get to be with my best friend.

“Oh, I’m glad you get to come with us.” He smiled standing up again.

“Me too.” I smiled knowing that this trip was going to be fun.

He walked behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist before letting his lips press against my neck. I got chills but didn't move as his lips trailed my jawline. A moan escaped my chest making him chuckled. I turned around, in his arms, and looked into his eyes. He pulled me closer and leaned his lips close to mine. I moved forward and let our lips move in sync as his hands landed on my hips.

“Lex!” Louis called from downstairs, snapping both of us out of our lip lock. “Zayn!”

“Yea?” I yelled back to him.

“Dinner!” I looked at Zayn while Louis told us about dinner.

“K” Zayn yelled down to him. “Great, now we have to go downstairs.”

“We can go down in a minute.” I smirked leaning forward to kiss him again.
