Louis’s POV

“Does anyone want to go on rides with me?” Zayn asked quietly, trying to ignore the face that he cant swim.

“I will.” Alex offered standing up from her towel.

“Guys, you wanna come?” He asked looking from Niall to Liam and finally to me.

“Sure” We shrugged our shoulders and slipped our shoes on.

They went ahead while I waited for Alex. She had to put her shirt and shoes back on. Once she was done, she walked over to me and wrapped her arm around my waist and I slung my arm over her.

“Can I ask you something?” I asked looking down at her to see her nod. “Do you know what happened with them?” I pointed to Harry and Lindsey who were walking down the beach.

“They hooked up when they got the car.” She seemed kinda mad but I didn't know why.

“Great” I said sarcastically. “He always does this shit. He always gets with people that matter to me or screws things up between me and somebody and I’m sick of it.”

“I know, that’s exactly how she is. Maybe it’s a good thing they hooked up.” She shrugged.

“Maybe…So, what’s going on with you and Zayn?” I blurted it out, I’d been wondering all day.

“Nothing, just friends.” She raised her eyebrows and said it like she had something more to say so I nudged her. “I know you think of me as a little sister and want to protect me, but I want to have fun.”

“What’re you talking about?” Completely lost over here.

“I know that you’re sisters are off limits to them but I don’t want to be put in that rule. I want to make my own decisions and if I decide to do something with one of them, I don’t want you to get mad.” She stepped aside so she wasn’t under my arm anymore.

“…The only guy that I could actually see you getting with is Zayn and he isn't the kind of guy that I want to see you with Lex.” I was just protecting her.

“You don’t know who I am anymore Louis. I’ve grown up a lot in the last 3 years, I didn't have a choice.” She stopped walking to face me. “I’m not mad or saying that it’s your fault, but if you were there you might understand when I say I’ve been hurt a lot and fucked over countless times. If I decide that he’s good enough or if I just want to blow off steam, I don’t want you to be mad at him or me. And I’m not just talking about Zayn.”

She wants me to give her permission to have sex with one of my friends? I don’t even get this. She should see that they aren’t good enough for her…but she’s right, I don’t know who she is…

“Fine.” I sighed in defeat. “You can be with whoever you want. You aren’t a kid anymore, you don’t need protecting from them because they wont intentionally hurt you. I’m not mad either.”

“Thank you.” She smiled.

“You're welcome. And you have to promise me something.” I held out my pinkie for our traditional pinkie promise. “Promise to give me a chance to get to know you again.”

“I promise.” She latched her finger with mine before pulling me into a hug.


Zayn’s POV

I looked up from the sand to see Harry drape his arm over Alex’s shoulder while the texted. She looked up at him with a small smile and then looked back at her phone.

“Who ya textinnnn?” Harry teased looking down at her phone.

“Someone” She slipped her phone back into her pocket.

“Ohhh, someone’s texting a boy.” Harry kept teasing her while I stood up from sitting on my towel. “Who’s the guy?”

“It’s not important.” Her cheeks flushed as her eyes dropped to the floor.

“You’re blushing hard for it not being important.” Harry poked her cheek with a laugh.

“Stop touching me and drop the subject.” She shrugged out of his arm and stepped in front of me. “Sorry” She mumbled after bumping into me.

“It’s fine.” I moved over and looked at Harry who was giving me a seductive look.

I shook my head and chuckled making Alex give me a questioning look, when I ignored her look she poked my stomach. She stared into my eyes only getting a shrug as a response. With a sigh, she looked away toward Harry who was checking Lindsey out. The rest of the guys walked over to us laughing until they saw Harry and Lindsey.

“Can you guys take your flirting somewhere else?” Louis wasn’t happy they were doing together. “So, anyone want any ice cream?”

“Sure” Everyone mumbled except Alex.

“Rides?” She asked looking up at me.

“Yea” I shrugged looking into her brown eyes and then up at the group. “You guys go have dessert and we’ll go ride rides?”

“Sounds good, have fun.” Louis waved with his back toward us since he was already walking away.

As everyone started toward the ice cream station, Alex walked over to her bag. She kneeled down and pulled out her sweater and slipped it on before standing up again. I was the only one who really liked rollercoasters so I was the one to ride with her. She was nice and funny so I’m not complaining, plus she was a flirt so it wasn’t hard to get along with her.

“What ride first?” I asked walking next to her toward the rides.

“I don’t care, I just didn't want ice cream.” She shrugged cozying up in her sweater.

“Didn't want ice cream? Are you feeling okay?” I mocked her.

“I’m kinda tired of Lindsey whoring around.” She was blunt about it. “Sorry, I coulda said that nicer.”

“Actually, you're completely right. I thought I was the only one seeing it.” I noticed her flirting with me and Louis earlier but brushed it off. “I thought you were annoyed by her flirting with Harry.”

“I don’t care if she flirts with him, but it’s annoying when she flirts with Louis and Liam and the rest of you. She doesn’t need to be a hoe with all of you.” She was mumbling but I didn't try to get her to talk clearly because I knew what she meant. “She always does this shit and I’m sick of it.”

“I’m sorry Alex.” I set my hand in the middle of his back and nudged her in line for the biggest rollercoaster.

“Sorry for ranting.” Her head dropped when I stood in front of her.

“It’s okay, I totally get it.” I set my hands on her arms making her look up at me.

She looked into my eyes and smirked poking my chest. I laughed letting go of her. She giggled and looked away so she could step forward in line.

I wish I could just kiss her. …What?! No, I don’t mean kiss, I mean…I don’t know what I mean. She’s pretty and smart and funny and hot and beautiful and amazing and every other thing you could ask for in a girl but she’s like Louis’s sister.

“What’re you thinking about?” She asked touching my biceps.

“Huh?” I snapped out of my thoughts.

“You were staring at me. What’s up?” She stood closer to me since we were in a smaller area.

“Nothing.” I lied pulling my phone out.

“Zayn…” She was prying. “If it’s about the sister thing with Louis, I already talked to him. He doesn’t care what I do, I’m allowed to make my own decisions and so are you.” She stepped a little closer.

“You guys are next” The ride organizer announced.

“Can we continue this later Zayn?” She asked looking up at me.

“I get what you were trying to say.” I mumbled touching her waist, the smile on her face faded.

She leaned up, letting her lips press against my cheek. I shivered and looked at her as her eyes fluttered open. Her eyes met mine as the carts came back to us and everyone got out. We shook off the feeling and sat in the cars.

“Let’s go!” We both cheered as the car started moving toward the peek of the ride.

“Alex?” I asked as the cart slowed at the bottom of a ridge and she looked at me.

Our eyes met again while I slipped my arm behind her and pulled her toward me. I kissed her lips quickly and leaned back, letting my eyes open slowly to see her smiling at me. She kissed my cheek again before the ride got crazy again.
