End Of The Day

I get up early to make Louis a big breakfast before he heads out. We eat in mostly silence.

A while later, I’m standing near the front door, fighting back tears. Preston tells Louis he’ll be waiting for him outside.
I lean against the wall behind me. Afraid that if I don’t, I’d be a crumbled mess on the floor. How on earth has someone that I’ve known for such a short time had such a huge impact on my heart?
Louis moves in closer to me, putting his arm on the wall above me, leaning into me slowly. I close my eyes as his lips meet mine, wanting to memorize this moment. The feel of his lips against mine, the taste of his tongue, along with the feeling of his body molded to mine. How can I possibly let him go?
I have no idea how long we’ve been like this, when Preston knocks on the door. Opening it he says. “Sorry Louis, we have to go.”
“I understand, I’ll be right there.” Turning back to me, lightly tracing his fingers alongside my face. “I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be to leave you, Darling.”
Tears slipping from my eyes. “I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be to let you go.”

Louis moves to whisper in my ear. “Oh Love, please don’t cry. I’ll never be able to leave you if you cry.” He gently wipes my tears away.
I know that I have to pull myself together for Louis’ sake. “I’ll be ok.” I wink. “I’ll just be thinking about you every moment.”
“I’ll call you as soon as I can. Please be safe, Lea.” He puts his hand in my hair. “I…..I….” Instead of finishing what he was going to say, he kisses me, then heads out the door without looking back.
