Never Enough
Chapter 2
I woke up to the annoying ringing of my alarm. it was 4:30am and I had to be to the airport for 5 o'clock. SHIT. I had to be to the airport for 5 o'clock that's like half an hour! good job i did all my packing over the weekend.
I ran downstairs dragging my large case with me. my suitcase plopped down each step behind me and i could just imagine everything that i spent hours folding getting shuffled up inside. I slammed my case down at the bottom of the stairs and rushed into the kitchen. I grabbed a banana, took one last look around and grabbed my keys. I was out, of course my parents were too busy to be here on my last day in America but they ensured me that they wold be in England shortly and would stay with me then.
This was it, this was my whole life. As i exited, shut the door behind me and put the key in the lock to secure my house, I realized that I wouldn't be back here for 2 years. I could come back at the end of terms but there really wouldn't be any point, it's not like my parents were going to be here anyway.
Snap out of it Daisy!
i had booked a cab the day before to take me to the airport because somehow i knew i was going to snooze my alarm a billion times this morning, i guess i didn't want to face the truth. i hopped in the cab that was thankfully on time, putting my suit case in the boot before.
"what takes you to city airport today miss" the cab driver said politely
urrgggg, I know he was just making conversation but i really wasn't in the mood to talk about the weather to be honest. regardless i decided to put my most convincing fake smile on and reply:
"I'm flying out to England this morning"
"oh really, I've never been before, you go there often?" he asked, i guess it was a natural follow up question but i couldn't help but find this little chat of ours tiring.
"no, first time" i said plainly, i think he gathered from the tone in my voice that something had me a little moody, because the rest of the relatively short ride was silent. Little did he know that my whole world was being dragged from underneath me.
when we got to to the airport i slugged out of the cab and got my case. I smiled and gave him his money including a small tip.
"keep the change" I said to him with a forced smile
"thanks dear, have a safe flight" his smile more genuine than mine, he was nice enough i was just being catty with him because of the circumstances and i did feel a little bad, never mind, i'm probably never going to see him again.
I made my way to the gate and boarded my flight. This was it.
About 8 hours later we began our decent into landing.
"the time in London is 7:42pm and it is a chilly 7 degrees outside, thank you for flying with British airways "
Once i had collected my luggage i had quite a short drive to a boarding school in the heart of London.
I had arrived at my new "home"
