Suntan City

Awkward.

“What’s going on in here?” Louis asked, staring daggers at Harry. “Get the fuck off of my sister Styles!”
“Hey there’s no need to yell dude!” Harry defended throwing his hands up in surrender.
“Yes there is when I clearly heard her say to stop it and you didn’t! And why the fuck were you touching her anyways? She’s not one of your whores Harry!”
Harry stood there shocked at Louis’ outbursts, as if he couldn’t move.
“Is everything okay?” Ryan’s voice came from the doorway of the kitchen.
“No, it’s not.”
“Lou, I’m fine. Lets just go.” I said grabbing my brother’s arm desperate I get him out of the kitchen before he did something he might regret later. Ryan stared at Harry confused before I grabbed his hand pulling him along. I didn’t want to deal with Harry today, especially now. He would only ruin my supposed to be nice day with Ryan, and I was not going to allow that to happen.
“What happened?” Ryan asked.
“Damn prick touched my sister.” Lou muttered under his breath. I sighed heavily ignoring the eyes that I knew belonged to Ryan burned into my skin.
“Lou, I’m over it, you need to be too.”
He scoffed walking back over to Chloe who frowned in confusion.
“I’m sorry… For him.”

Harry’s POV:
Zayn and I were walking down the beach scoping out for the beach babes when he spoke up. “So Lana has been looking extra hot these days.”
“Fuck yeah she has. Ever since her and Derek broke up its like all the sudden she’s ten times hotter.”
“Yeah, and she still doesn’t give you the time of any fucking day.” He chuckled.
“Please, she wants me dude.”
He looked at me and scoffed, “If that’s what you want to call her despising everything you do, okay.”
“She’s just playing hard to get. You know what? I’ll bet you a hundred bucks that by the end of this trip, she will be screaming my name.” I smirked.
“Oh, you’re on.”
**
Lana’s POV:
The day had turned out to be great, despite the incident at lunch. Ryan and I had a great time getting to know each other and Jake seemed to be very well acquainted with Rhi.
“Um Ryan?” I asked wading beside him in the gulf.
“Yeah?” He smiled, his slightly sunburnt cheeks making him all the more adorable.
“I was wondering if you’d like to maybe hang out here tonight? I think everyone is going out and I’m not in the mood. Plus I want to hang out, just you and me.”
He smiled wider, “I’d love to. I have to go back to my place and change but after that, I’ll meet you here.”
“It’s a date.” I grinned playfully.
“I’m sorry, I only date blondes.”
I scoffed before tackling him in the water.
“Take it back!” I squealed as he laughed and dove us both into a large wave. We surfaced and I shrieked. “You dick!”
He chuckled grabbing my waist and pulling me back to him and kissing my salty lips as another wave crashed over us sending us into a fit of laughter. I clung onto him like a koala, laughing loudly.
Ryan really was a sweetheart from what I’ve seen so far. Even though we’d only met the night before, I felt as if he’d been my friend for years. Feelings were growing for him the more time I spent with him. I haven’t been this smitten with someone since my ex Derek. It was really refreshing to meet a genuine guy for once.
**
As everyone else got ready for a night out I got ready for a nice night in. I had opted for a simple coral-colored dress and gladiator sandals, not wanting to seem high maintenance but still wanting to look nice for our date. The house was anything but silent as Louis blasted music through the large system downstairs, hair dryers were being used, and of course, the drinks were already being downed.
A loud bang on my door startled me as I was putting in my earrings. Huffing, I stomped to the door to fling it open. Haley stood in the doorway, a sly smile graced her barely made up face.
“May I help you?” I inquired raising a brow before returning back to getting ready.
“So, word around the house is Miss Tommo has a date tonight with a Mr. Ryan.”
I blushed a deep red. Yes, it hadn’t even been twenty-four hours since I’d met the guy, but he already had me blushing multiple times. “Maybe I do, so what?”
“So what? Do you know how jealous Harry has acted ever since word got to him?”
I rolled my eyes, knowing he was just drunk. “He’s drunk Hales. I’m sure he couldn’t give two shits whether I have a date or not.”
“Oh I beg to differ. According to Ni, he’s been making slight digs at Ryan all day apparently.” Her expression was confused, as was mine, probably as to why Harry would care. He had never cared before, well at least, not that I’d seen.
“Well, I’m furious with him about earlier. He went over the line. Way over the line.”
“I understand babe. I just thought I’d let you know.” She stood from her place on the bed straightening out her flowy royal blue tank top. Her legs looked amazing in her leather hot pants paired with her signature biker boots.
“Well thanks, I guess.” I touched up on my blush before turning back to her smiling deviously. “You look hot Hales, Niall is gonna devour you tonight.”
“Don’t I know it?” She winked. “Good luck Lan.”

Ryan had arrived earlier than expected, I was still cooking away in the kitchen when I’d heard the doorbell. My heart fluttered, I wasn’t going to lie, I was nervous as all get out. I liked Ryan a lot and the last thing I wanted to do was screw this date up.
“Hi.” I smiled as I opened the door to his smiling face. He was dressed in teal colored shorts, a plaid button up, and loafers. Total Southern fratter, I thought. Hopefully he wouldn’t end up being exactly like the ones I knew.
“Hi.” He replied still smiling. “You look great.”
I blushed, realizing that’s probably all he’s ever seen me do. “As do you.”
We stood in the doorway awkwardly for a moment before I finally invited him in. He closed the door gently behind him before following me through the hall and into the kitchen where I had yet to finish cooking.
“Smells amazing in here.”
I smiled, knowing that my mother had taught me well. My cooking skills were nothing compared to hers, being a culinary expert and all, but I still was a close second as arrogant as that sounds. Tonight I had decided on a classic pasta dish, parmesan chicken. It had always been one of my favorites, I just hoped that Ryan would enjoy it as well.
*
When we finally sat down to eat, Ryan immediately started chowing down. I giggled at his eagerness as I had only placed my napkin in my lap. He grinned with a mouthful of pasta and chicken.
“This is delicious.” He noted after swallowing the large bite.
“Thanks, I learned all I know from my mom. She owns her own catering business and so I kind of had to learn.” I laughed, remembering all of the endless days with my perfectionist mother trying to get recipes exactly right.
“Well she taught you well.” His grin faded as he took another bite.
“So what does your dad do? I mean this is an amazing place you’ve got here.”
“He’s an orthopedic surgeon, works with a lot of athletes.”
He nodded taking it in before stuffing another bite into his mouth.
“What about your parents?”
“They’re divorced. My mom is a nurse and my dad is in the army stationed in North Carolina and recently deployed to Afghanistan, so I don’t get to see him much.” There was slight sadness in his voice as he spoke. “But hey, he’s my hero.”
I smiled as his adorable grin reappeared.
“Anyways, you’re brother, Louis I think, didn’t seem to like me very much.” He said with a slight chuckle.
“That’s just him being, well him. He doesn’t cope well when I bring a guy into the picture, no matter who it is. I’m his baby sister after all, and he finds it his job to protect me from any harm, explaining why he blew up today.” I shuddered at the thought, wondering what had made Harry be so forward and crude. “But trust me, he’s a great guy once you get passed his snarky ass mouth.”
That got a laugh out of him, his eyes squinted a bit making him seem all the more adorable. But just as sudden as the laughter began, it ended, the conversation taking an obviously serious route now.
“So that Harry guy, what’s the deal with him?”
“He’s my brother’s ass of a best friend, honestly up to no good. We used to be good friends, but when we went to college, things changed.” I replied sipping my sweet tea.
“So nothing going on?” He asked skeptically.
“Absolutely not.”

Ryan couldn’t stay the night, unfortunately seeing as he had promised Jake a boy’s night after our date. I didn’t mind, well I couldn’t mind, it was only our first date after all. He bid me farewell and good night with a lingering kiss to my lips. Perfect end to a perfect date.
I was cleaning up the remaining items in the kitchen when I heard a loud bang in the back yard. Panicking, I grabbed the freshly washed frying pan to my left and slowly crept towards the source. Thankfully the backyard was illuminated in garden lights as well as the porch light, allowing me to see. I glanced around the perimeter before my eyes landed on a tall figure struggling to stand by the grill. I let out a shriek, before seeing a few tousled curls blow in the wind and the figure slowly crept toward me revealing himself. Harry.
“Harry, what the fuck? You scared the shit out of me!” I grumbled lowering the pan from my stance, looking like I was ready to hit a baseball.
“That’s not the greeting I was hoping for.” He was obviously hammered, his eyes wide and glazed over as he looked at me. “You don’t look like you’ve been fucked yet. Want me to take care of that?”
I scoffed, disgusted with his comment. “No thanks, I’m good besides I’m sure Rack City back there would be happy to replace me.”
He turned, remembering the girl he’d brought home for the night. Of course, she was blonde and wore a dress that left little to the imagination. As much as Harry denied it, he had a type and I was looking straight at her.
She giggled stumbling up to him and wrapping her horribly spray tanned arms around him, pulling at the hem of his shirt. “Come on baby, show me your room.”
He smirked before leading her into the house and up the stairs. I rolled my eyes, great, I’ll have to listen to the fornicating up stairs all by myself. I silently cursed Harry under my breath as I heard the door slam shut.
*
I tried to busy myself and take my mind off of the activities taking place just upstairs. I found this a very hard task when I heard the headboard hit the wall repeatedly and loud feminine screams. This was definitely not how I intended to spend my night.
After a while, I couldn’t help but think about what it would be like. Harry hovering over me, curls sticking to his sweaty forehead as he looked down at me. Nipping roughly at my neck and collarbone, leaving hickeys for me to find the next day. Thrusts hard and deep as my nails scraped down his back as ecstasy took over and his name spilled from my lips.
Shit, what was I doing? No, these thoughts should not be in my mind. I shouldn’t even think of Harry at all.
*
The next morning, I woke up fairly early despite the three hours of sleep I had gotten. At first, I was going to go for a run but quickly talked myself out of it when I saw two boxes of a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts on the counter.
As I was digging into my first, Haley waltzed into the kitchen wet hair, fresh from a shower, practically glowing. She obviously had a good night. “Good morning.”
She grabbed a glass from the cabinet pouring herself some orange juice and leaned over the counter across from where I sat.
“I’m sensing you had a pretty decent night.” I said quirking my brow as she smirked.
“Decent is an understatement.” She sipped her orange juice as I chuckled knowingly, and I had to admit I was kind of jealous that she had a boyfriend to enjoy the night with.
“I’m guessing your little slugger is still passed out?”
“Oh no, he’s still in the shower.” She winked.
I rolled my eyes starting on my second donut.
“Did you and Ryan get it in last night?” It was my turn to be interrogated. Haley looked at me expectingly while sipping her juice.
I sighed. “No.”
“And just why the hell not?” She stood up straight, obviously offended that I didn’t get the night before. “It’s not technically a one night stand, you had a date and all. He obviously cares a little”.
“It’s not that I didn’t want to, believe me I did. It’s just he promise Jake that they’d have a guy’s night after our date and I couldn’t be mad about it.”
“But you could’ve asked him to cancel just that one time or at least show up late.” She inquired.
“I could have but I didn’t. I didn’t want to seem clingy.”
“Babe, I’m sure what was going through your head was the same thing going through his.”
“Well hopefully we will before be has to leave Monday.” Monday was a mere three days away, and I didn’t know whether or not Ryan was even remotely serious about continuing this whole thing. Yeah, he’d asked me on a second date before he left last night, but that didn’t mean anything. He could just be stringing me along until he got what he wanted and then he’d leave me, just like the rest.
