Always

“Wake up babe…” Harry’s voice was a little above a whisper as he leaned down to wake up his sleeping bride to be, unknowing that she had found out a little more than she could handle the night before. Drinking the problem away obviously didn’t happen and she was dreading waking up and dealing with reality. Not to mention the pounding headache she had from the night before. She blinked her eyes open finally and looked at him, not making any expressions. “Someone is cranky.” Harry said with a laugh as he walked over stood and walked towards the fridge to get her an orange juice.
“So I see you had a little party last night?” He said as he lifted the still open bottle of whisky. “I’m sorry I didn’t get in until late, I was working on some lyrics with Louis.” He lied and twisted the knife in Penny’s stomach.
“It’s fine.” She finally said as she sat up, her mind clouding with thoughts. Did she have the right to say anything? Hadn’t she done the exact same thing to him before? The only reason he knew was because the guilt ate her up and she had to tell him, but she didn’t tell him about her run in with Niall only months ago.
“You okay there?” Harry asked with his arm extended, juice in hand.
“Oh, yeah sorry. Drank too much.” She said as she took the juice and swallowed it down quickly.
“Aspirin too.” He said as he handed her the pills, she had read somewhere that if you take medicine with orange juice the acidity eats it away before it can do it’s job, but she wasn’t in the mood to fight with him over what kind of beverage was best to take aspirin with so she threw the pills in her mouth and downed them with the juice.
“I’ve got to run out, we’ve got a radio interview and then we’re leaving for the next city—which is Dublin where we’ll be meeting up with our magical and beautiful daughter…” Harry was getting dressed as he spoke, rummaging around in his suitcase as he looked for the perfect outfit for the day.
“You’ll pack my stuff for me?” He said as he walked into the bathroom to put on deodorant.
“Yeah, sure…” Penny’s back was against the headboard as she pulled her knees up to her chest. She wanted to ask him if he had sex with her, if she was good in bed and if he’d gone straight to the shower to wash her off when he got home last night. She didn’t though, she just sat there, helpless.
“Okay, I’ve gotta run but I love ya babe, I hope you feel better.” He said as he pressed his lips to hers quickly and then zipped out the door.
“Fuck.” She said defeated and grabbed her phone, immediately pressing on Niall’s name.
After only one ring, he answered.
“Penny, you okay?” He asked, clearly concerned.
“Yes, what time is the radio interview?” She asked, looking over at the alarm clock which read 7:30am
“It’s this afternoon at 4, why what’s up?”
“He’s going to see her again.”
“Why do you say that?”
“He just walked out of the room faster than lightning because he had to get to the radio interview, how dumb does he think I am?”
“Where are you?”
“I’m in the hotel room…” Penny sighed, this was absolutely wretched.
“I’m coming.”
Before Penny could object the phone had disconnected and she knew he would be there any second. She hopped out of bed and looked at herself, her dark hair was a tangled mess and her eyeliner from the night before was smudged in all different directions. She quickly grabbed a makeup wipe as she walked to the door, smearing the makeup off of her face as she opened it before he could even knock. He walked in and looked around the room, Harry’s clothes were now strewn all around. He knew how to leave a mess.
“Jesus love…” He said before turning to look at her.
“I know, prince charming.” She said with a sigh as she began picking up his clothes and throwing them into his suitcase with no order what so ever.
“I can’t believe this, I’m still mad at you for not telling me… but I understand why you didn’t.”
“Penny, you know I never want to hurt you…what was his excuse for last night?” Niall had begun helping her pick the clothes up.
“Louis. Now I know what he was really doing all those nights he said he was with Louis.”
“Yeah, Louis is probably banging someone else too… he always does. They all always do.” Niall said with a frown.
“and you just bang me.” Penny said with a sigh, finally sitting down on the bed.“How fucked is this.” She laughed, feeling the sturdy walls she’d spent so long building crumple down around her.
“What do you want to do about it?” Niall asked as he sat beside her.
“I don’t know…” She said softly.
“Are you going to confront him?”
“I don’t know that either.”
Niall sighed and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, giving her a tight squeeze.
“I’ve got your back, no matter what.”
“I meant what I said last night Niall…” She said as she turned to look at him.
“I know you did, I meant it too.” He was caught off guard, but knew exactly what she was referencing.
“I’ve always loved you. I just… I should have never gotten with Harry… I should have been with you from the start.”
“Don’t say that, you and Harry made something wonderful and her name is Pippa. Don’t ever forget that she comes first.” Niall said looking at her seriously.
“Fuck, yes you’re right, but fuck she is meeting us in Dublin what the hell am I going to do”
“You’re going to act normal and show her how fun being on tour is. Just wait a little longer and then everything will be good babe, okay?”
“How are you so sure?”She asked stubbornly, her voice exasperated.
“Trust me.” He gave her a lopsided smile.
“Always…”
