Ferris Wheel
Rachel's P.O.V.
Since we were all pretty hung over we just lounged around the hotel that day, none of us doing a whole lot. However when evening came we decided to head to a fair that was in Fuengirola - a town not far from where we were. It was a humongous fun fair with lots of stalls and different rides and we were excited to be going to it.
When we got there we subconsciously drifted off into groups. Dakota and Michael wandered off towards a game, where she spotted a teddy she liked. Melanie and Luke saw a test your strength game and just had to run off towards it. That left only Sierra, Ashton, Calum and I. Calum and I walked slightly behind them as we chatted and I tried to figure out the relationship between them.
They always acted like they hated each other even though I could tell it wasn't as simple as that, there was a lot more to heir relationship.
I linked my arm with Calum's as we walked. "So Cal, spotted anyone you like?" I asked him as we walked, glancing around at the various rides.
"What?" He asked back absentmindedly. "Anyone you like Calum. Any of the ladies at the hotel" I waggled my eyebrow at the suggestion. There were lots of very attractive hotel workers along with gorgeous women lounging by the pool.
I could see a faint blush on Calum's cheeks as he shook his head, a giveaway that he was lying. "Liar" I accused. "If you need a wingman to help set you up, I'm your gal" I added, nudging him gently to which he laughed in response.
"Well aren't you so helpful" he chuckled. "Got your back Jack" I teased with a wink as I pulled my arm out of his, rushing forward. "We HAVE to go on the Ferris wheel" I grinned, turning around to face the three of them. Ashton and Sierra shrugged in agreement though she didnt seem too happy to have to share the little seat with him.
"Calum?" I asked, my excitement causing me to bounce on my feet slightly. He looked a little dubious. "You're not scared of heights are you? C'mon, even if you are please come on it with me! I'll hold your hand and you can keep your eyes shut the entire time" I promised. I needed to go on this and I didn't want to have to get on with some stranger.
"Yeah, yeah sure" I could see him exchange a glance with Sierra and he blushed considerably when I held out my hand for him. He quickly laced his fingers through mine and I squeezed his hand encouragingly. We weren't in the queue long and before I knew it we were on the wheel. I gripped Calums hand slightly tighter as we began to move, eventually stopping at the top.
Calum's P.O.V.
My stomach was exploding with butterflies but not because of the ride. When she had suggested the Ferris wheel I had been distracted and so didn't have a chance to correct her when she assumed I was afraid. I was going to but then she offered to let me hold her hand and despite myself I couldn't deny the opportunity.
And now here we were on the top of the Ferris wheel with a beautiful view of all the lights brightening up the dark night, with her hand in mine.
She gasped at the view. "Wow. Look Calum, isn't it beautiful?" She whispered in awe. I couldn't help but stare at her. There was a smile gracing her lips and here eyes were lit with wonder and amazement an before I knew what I was saying I murmured the word "Stunning".
She glanced at me quickly, finding me staring at her and my cheeks flushed crimson but she simply laughed, rolling her eyes. "You're such a flirt Cal" she chuckled.
I couldn't help but sigh at her words. I wasn't a flirt, not in any way. That was the thing she didnt understand. I wasn't flirting with her because I was flirty. I was flirting with her because I liked her. It pained me that she didnt understand that.
I started to feel like the Ferris wheel myself. No matter how hard I tried to flirt with her, I was simply going in a circle. Our relationship wasn't changing because I wasn't trying hard enough. I needed to step up my game. If I didn't my chances with her were going to end up just like the Ferris wheel. Going nowhere.
