With one last look in the mirror, I knew my mom was ready for her date. Last month my mom took a courageous chance of making a profile on an online dating site - knowing that she thought the whole idea of online dating was horrendous and pointless - she thought that she'd give it a go. All the while, she asked for my help - thinking that I knew what men liked.

Now after a week of talking over the phone, they finally decided on going on a date. With me being the overprotective daughter - I warned her about the creepy weirdos and rapists out there. But being the stubborn person she was, she still was going along with it.

"Mom, are you sure you still want to go through this"?, I asked, just to make sure ask I reapplied her eyeliner.

Rolling her eyes, she let out a low chuckle as I she turned around towards me. "Yes, Rose, I'm still sure. There's nothing to worry about, I'll be fine".

Are you sure about that? I mean you haven't even met the man yet.

Sighing, I got back to work on her eyes, adjusting them a little bit.

"Your all done", I pointed out, closing the makeup kit that was placed on the bathroom sink. With her getting up and smoothing out her blue silky dress, I let a smile bypass my lips.

"Mom, you look gorgeous", I confessed, as she twirled around, the dress spiking up.
"Thank you honey", fixing her hair in the mirror one last time, she exited the bathroom and straight into her room.

Thinking that she slipping her heels on, I went into my room to go call Liam - a friend I made when I first moved here - hoping that he would want to come over here while my mom was out.

Surprisingly, my mother trusted Liam to be exact. She wasn't worried when he came over or when he would come in my room and the door would be closed - she mainly saw him as an older brother that I never had. I thought that with me being the only child, she would get protective when I had a boy over, but she wasn't. All I really saw in Liam was a friend, and so did he.

As I looked through my contacts for his name, I heard my mom carefully walk down the stairs - so she didn't trip in her heels - and into the front.

"Honey, I'm gone. There's leftover pizza in the fridge if you get hungry", she yelled, before she closed the door.

Sighing to myself, I wandered over to my bedroom window, as I pressed Liam's number, I looked through the blinds as my mother got into his car. Watching them pull off, I heard the groggy sound of my friend's voice filling my right ear.

"Rose"-, he paused as I heard shuffling come from the other end, "- it's 7 at night, what could you possibly want"?

"I was just wondering if you would like to come over", I stated, as I moved from the window to my bed.
"Isn't your mom at home"?, he spoke as he let out a huff.

Sitting down on my bed, crossing them I put the phone on speaker.
"She went on a date".

"You mean she finally got a date on that online dating thing"?, he laughed.

Rolling my eyes, I suddenly regretted telling Liam this. "Yes she finally got a date, but seriously can you come over"?

"Uh, yeah sure. I'll be over in a bit", before he hung up I heard shuffling come from the other end.

Smiling to myself, I took my hair out of it's ponytail and let it hang loosely. Slipping on my bunny slippers, I went downstairs into the kitchen - preparing some snacks for Liam and me. But I suddenly stopped when I heard the doorbell go off.

Wow, Liam got here fast.

Going to the door, I unlocked it being met with a face I know all to well.

"Wha- What are you doing here"?
