Valentine’s Day-

To be honest I wasn’t expecting anything from Luke, we hadn’t seen each other much not for any particular reason everyday life just got in the way. But Sunday morning my grinning mother came into my room and practically sang “Guess who’s waiting for you at the door?” I held my breath not quite able to believe it, “I’d hurry up if I were you honey, he’s already waited half an hour for you” she winked at me “I’d say you picked a good one.” I giggle and observe myself in my mirror I carefully tease all the tangles out of my hair and dap lip gloss on. I run downstairs in a frenzy of excitement. I feel horrible when I see Calum standing at the door grinning, I can’t return his grin, he isn’t the boy I wanted to see. “I have something for you” he says and hands me a big card and a bouquet of roses.

The card is cute I suppose a bear with a heart and ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ on the front. “Thank you Cal” I say and I step forward and hug him. I hear someone clearing their throat and see Luke “Don’t get too attached Cal, thats my girlfriend you’re hugging” he says half jokingly half seriously. I feel Calum stiffen but hardly notice because of the warm feeling inside me because Luke just called me his girlfriend!

“Come on Ashley” says Luke and grabs my hand I turn around to Calum who looks rejected “Thanks Cal, catch you later” I only realise I am still holding his flowers and card as I climb into Luke’s car I drop them at my feet. I catch him staring at them for a while but then he rips his gaze away. "Theres something I want to give to you”he says and pulls a box, I stare in amazement at him and then feel guilty “Im sorry I haven’t got you anything” he just smiles, Its not that I didn’t remember its just I would have felt embarrassed if he was one of those people who didn’t make Valentine’s day a big deal.

Carefully I open the box and gasp, inside it is a beautiful silver infinity ring, jewels sparkle on the front and at the back ‘Now and Forever’ has been engraved. “Do you like it?” Luke says cautiously. I throw my arms around him and hug him tight I can feel tears welling up in my eyes “I take that as a yes then” he chuckles and wipes my tears away. “But my dear Ashley, this is just the beginning we better get going if were going to get there on time!”
