His Sister
Chapter One
"Sadie, wake up!" I heard the voice of my Bestfriend wake me up. I grab the nearest pillow and through it over my head, hugging it tightly to my body. I let out a throaty groan as he kept nagging.
"Come'on! We need to get to the mall. Don't your remember, it's the Junior Prom tonight. We have to go get your dress! And since I'm buying you the dress we need to get going!" He whined. I shoot up in bed excitedly with a huge smile on my face.
"It's prom...Oh my lord it's Prom! Come'on Charlie let's move!" I said to him getting to my feet quickly and running to my bathroom to change. I brushed my teeth and did my hair. I slip on my converse and now I was ready to shop. I walk out of the bathroom and into my bedroom to see Charlie sitting on my bed.
"So we'll end up missing at least half of the school day of we get our shopping done right. I need you to pick a dress and I'll just pick a tux to match it. I want you to get what you want, you deserve it." Charlie smiled at me.
"Thanks Charles." I returned a shy smile while grabbing his hand and lacing his fingers with mine, while pulling him down the Hall and towards the front door.
"A little eager now are we..." He chuckled as I dragged him out the door and to his car.
"Tonights gonna be perfect!" I say outloud showing off the craziest smile I could. But I should of know, there's no such thing as perfect.
"How about this one?" I ask Charlie, coming out of the dressing room, twirling in the dress as I reavealed it to him.
"Oh wow, honestly, It looks like a peacock there up on you!" He said trying to keep a straight face, but failed miserably. I laughed with him.
"I knew you'd say that, I just wanted to know if you'd tell me the truth on what you thought. I hate this dress too!" I giggle.
"Next!" He yelled out. I laughed at him and went back into the changing room to change my outfit. I hope this one is better. I love this next one. I look at myself in awe in the mirror before making my grand entrance. When I walked out Charles was looking at his phone but as soon as he heard my heels click on the tile floor his eyes shot up to me. Almost immediately he stood up from his chair and walked over to me.
"This is totally the one, you look flawless. Your so beautiful." He said cheekily. I blushed and looked to the ground.
"Well then Mrs. Flawless go change and let's find me a tuxedo." He said hugging me. After I changed out of the dress and Charles bought it we bought him a tuxedo and a tie to much my dress. We're totally gonna look like a couple tonight. But we aren't. I could never date my Bestfriend, and besides we already know everything about each other so we don't need to be closer then we already are.
"Okay so now that we're done we'll make make it back for our last two classes of the day. I'll drop you off and then I'll pick you up at your house at six so we can be at the prom by seven. Got it?" He told me sternly.
"Got it!" I assured him, he pulled up to the building my 8th period class was in. I knew I was at least twenty minutes early, but oh well. I thanked him for the ride, giving him one last hug before hopping out of the car and making my way into the building. Right outside the entrance to the building I saw two men in police uniforms guarding the doors. Well that's strange.
"Good evening officers." I greeted them politely. they looked shocked for a second before the older looking officer said something.
"Hello miss I'm doing some surveys for the campus protection program. Is it alright if I ask you some questions?" He asked confidently.
"Sure sir, ask me anything."
"First of all, what's your name. First and last please!" He added quickly.
"Um, Sadie Arthur."
"Date of birth?"
"November 14th, 1995..." I responded timidly to the suspious questions. This has nothing to do with the campus...
"Parents names?"
"Ugh I'm really sorry but I've got to get to class." I scurried past them trying to get away from the weird acting men. What was going on today? Maybe there looking for someone. Drug dealers? Rapists? Kidnappers? I walked through the double doors shrugging it all off as I walked to my Advanced English class.
When I arrived in the classroom I was one of three students already sitting down working on there pre-class writing prompt. It was only the second week of this class since we've switched to last terms schedule so the teacher, Mr.Scott was starting off kinda easy. The class started filling up and as people started finishing up their writing, Mr.Scott walked in with a smile on his face just like he had since day one.
"Good morning class how are you students this fine morning?" His voice filled the silent room. People responded with mumbles and groans but Mr.S just ignored them.
"Okay then, today class we are going to be starting a new writing project that will last until the end of this school year, which is about two months away. So the theme for this years exam is, dun dun dun... how has your life changed. Now for all you curious people out there, let me explain. I can guarantee every one of you guys have gone through at least one major change in your life so now, you're gonna keep a diary with you for the next few months and record interesting things that happen throughout your daily lives, you will them compare it to what you have wrote today, on your first page. So take a book and pass one down the rows, and get started writing a few interesting things that have happened today. you may get started." He finished passing a bundle of different designed diary looking notebooks down the rows of desks.
I guess we weren't deciding which one we get so I just shut my eyes and picked a random one. I drew randomly from the pile, the prettiest book I had ever seen. This book is going to be my life for the next two months. I have to make it worth it. I pass on the basket of diaries to the person behind me and began writing.
Dear diary,
My name is Sadie Arthur. I'm a third year collage student. I live in Wisconsin with my mom and dad, Lily and James Arthur. They treat me as any parent would treat a child. I'm and only child so I get rather lonely sometimes, but my best friend Charlie helps me with that. Charlie is a very handsome boy but I would never let our relationship go pass a close friendship. I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life but my parents don't sound like people around here. It's as if they have a little accent but whenever I ask they always ignore me. Today the weirdest thing happened, I was outside the English building about to go in, when I was stopped by two policemen asking if they could survey me about the campus. Of course I said yes to the men in uniform. So they started asking me questions. They had nothing to do with the campus at all, it was more like an interview about myself. "What's your name?" "When's your birthday?" And then they asked me..."What are your parents names?" I automatically knew they weren't surveying me about the campus so I just told them I had class and went along with entering the building. But it sure as hell was weird. I think they're looking for some one, but who?
The bell rang signaling that class is over. I close the diary and slip it into my bag, along with everything else I brought to class. I can't wait until tonight, I've been planning this since the beginning of the year. Charlie asked me to the prom at the very beginning of the school year, just to make sure some guys didn't come and sweep me off my feet, leaving him in the dust. Speaking of people wanting to sweep me off my feet.
"Hey Sadie!" Adam called down the hallway behind me. I pick up my pace a little trying to avoid him.
"Awe Sadie, are you trying to ignore me?" He asked grabbing my wrists and slamming me against the wall.
"Adam, get off me. I'm not up for your games today and besides, I have to get to class!" I said annoyed of his presents.
"Fine, but don't think I won't continue this at the dance tonight. See you around Arthur." He smirked before walking away. He does this a lot. It really kills me that I use to date him, he uses me for his own desires now, And I can't do anything about it. He won't hesitate to hit me if I don't listen. I don't know how I got him to agree today, I guess everythings different, everything feels different, but I done know why. I decide to ditch my last class and just walk home. I'm not up for dealing with my advanced math class after everything that's happened today.
When I get home, it's already five. Charlie texted me reminding that he would be here at seven. My parents left me a note saying they'd be home at about six, So I should just get ready now.
I run up the stairs to my room and into my bathroom to plug in my curling iron. I take the bag with my dress and heels in it, put of my backpack and place it out neatly on my bed. I carefully put My makeup on and curl my hair perfectly before slipping on the beautiful dress. I put on the heels as well and stare at myself in the mirror. Mom and dad are going to love this dress. I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I opened it up to see it was my parents.
"Well don't you look beautiful!" My mother chirped pulling me into her arms. my dad looked like he was about to cry.
"Daddy what's wrong?" I asked him, slightly upset about his facial expressions.
"My little girl is all grown up." He told me taking me into his arms. I hug him for a little before pulling my mother into the now group hug. Our moment was interrupted by the doorbell. I checked the time. 6:13. Charlie wouldn't be here this early. Who else could it be.
"It's probably Charlie. I'll get it." I assured them as I walk past them and down the stairs to the door. When I get there I see flashing red and blue lights through our curtains.
"Mom! Dad!" I yell for them before opening the door. I can hear their feel shuffling above me from upstairs. I open the door slowly to find a large group of police standing on my porch, with there guns drawn might I add.
"Hello?" I ask them hesitantly.
"Are you Sadie?" One lady asked me.
"Yes I am. What is all this about?" I asked but they didn't answer me. They just pushed me and ran past me, making me fall to the ground. They split in groups and started to search my house.
"What are you doing! Get out of my fucking house! You can't just push your way in here like that you morons! Get the fuck out!" I scream at them. Then I felt a pair of familiar arms wrap around my waist. I look up to see Charles with a sad look.
"Charlie what's happening? Tell them they can't do this!" I yelled at him. He just stood me up and dragged me out of the house and towards the curb. I could see everything that was happening in slow motion. The people gathering around my house that was now blocked off by police cars. My parents being pulled out of the house in handcuffs. I tried running towards them but Charlie held me back.
"Let go of me Charles! Let go!" I told him angrily. I can't believe my bestfriend is holding me back from my parents. I have no idea what's going on. Without thinking I brought my leg up and back down hard on Charlie's foot making him groan in pain and let go of my arms. Now's my chance. I took off running towards the police that were holding my parents, trying to shove them inside the back of a police car.
"Let go of them, they've done nothing wrong!" I said pulling on the policemen's arm.
"Miss Tomlinson, I need you to calm down and go stand on your porch. I will explain everything in a moment." He told me calmly. I look over to my mom and dad who held angry looks on their faces. I did as I was told, not wanting to get arrested, and walked over to the porch and sat down on one of the top steps. I started cry thinking about what had happened. Did my parents sell drugs? Did they steal something? That's when I realized something. When I heard shuffling above me they must of been hiding. So they knew they did something wrong. I saw the same policemen when I was going to class and the asked me weird questions. Charlie helping them hold me back while they through my parents carelessly in the back of a the police car. Somethings not right about this situation. Why did that officer call me Miss Tomlinson? Who is that?
"Okay Sadie. We have something to tell you. But you probably won't believe us." The same police people form earlier said as they approached me. I felt someone grab my hand and look to see its Charlie.
"Why are you taking my parents?" I asked tears rolling down my confused face.
"Oh sweetie, these aren't you parents." Charlie said. His next words pulled the ground straight out from under me.
"They're your kidnappers."
