Just a Little Bit of Your Heart

Ch.12

Madison's POV

"That's my name." Luke smirks, crossing his arms like my brother.

Parker's hardened expression then turns to amusement, but I could still see a hint of coldness behind his eyes. "Parker." He holds out a hand for Luke to take.

Luke almost doesn't budge, but I catch him glance at me through the corner of his eye, and he finally shakes Parker's hand. I accidently sigh out loud at the relief of the tension that still slightly remains. I clear my throat and speak up, "Uh Dad, Mom, this is Luke as you know."

"Well it's nice to meet you honey." Mom smiles but doesn't shake his hand. Dad nods to Luke but not a word slips out of his mouth.

"Shall we eat?" Violet speaks up, trying to clear the awkwardness out of the room.

"Indeed." Michael agrees and makes his way to the table, sitting next to my brother and I. Violet sits next to my brother and my Mom, and I sit in between Luke and my Dad.

"So how is everyone today?" I ask since nobody starts talking.

"I'm good, Maddy, thanks for asking." Parker smiles that ridiculous smiles he gets when he's trying to make me laugh.

"Good." I smile back. "What about you guys?"

A bunch of mumbles were sent around the room, and I couldn't help but feel smaller and smaller by the minute. I could sense Luke tensing in his seat, and moving around a lot to make himself seem more comfortable. I could tell that he didn't want to eat our food, but I knew that he was only eating so he wouldn't seem rude; although I'm not sure what's stopping him this time. For the sake of Luke, I say, "Guys I think Luke and I are done. Thanks for lunch."

"Thank you, Mrs. Greenwall, Mr. Greenwall." Luke nods to them.

"Don't thank my darling. It was my pleasure, come back anytime." Mom says.

Since dad says nothing, I motion for Luke to follow me up to my room. "Keep the door open!" Parker calls, with a grunt of agreement from my Dad.

"Sorry." I apologize to him, making sure to not close the door all the way. "My family can be a bit much at times. But hey, who knew you had manners. "

"Yeah turns out I wasn't raised by a pack of wolves." Luke scoffs, and sits at the edge of my bed.

"I didn't mean it like that. It's just I've never known you to be nice."

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me."

"So tell me. I've got all the time in the world." I grin, placing my desk chair in front of him, so I am facing him.

Luke shakes his head. "No."

"Luke I'm here for you. You can talk to me, you know. You can trust me."

"I don't know you Madison!" Luke raises his voice. "I know nothing about you, but you still try to get inside my head. I hardly know you and here I am, spending the night with you and having lunch with your family, who most likely hates my guts just by looking at the tattoos on my arms!"

"That's not the case, Luke. My family have seen Michael's tattoos and there fine with it.
Maybe..maybe.." I trail off, regretting that the thought crossed my mind.

"Go on. Say it." Luke growls.

I think about it, and decide to put in a polite way. "Maybe they seem to be okay with Michael because he seems more approachable."

Luke scoff in disbelief. "I'm not approachable? I'm talking to you right now aren't I?"

"I wouldn't necessarily call this talking." I say putting more emphasize on 'talking'.

"So what do you want to call this?" Luke shrugs his shoulders in a large motion.

"Luke every time we even try to have a conversation we end up yelling at each other."

"So it's my fault?"

"I never said that."

"But your implying."

By now my temper has shot through the roof, and for the first time Luke has really pissed me off. "Yeah because every time I even want to get to know you, you scream at me for asking you a damn question, just as simple as 'What made you want to get tattoos?' or 'How are you today?'. Everything I do sets you off and I don't know why! One second you like me and you want to at least be a friend. The next minute you may be kissing me or yelling like this. All I'm trying to do is help!"

"I don't need help! Your just like everyone else in the damn world; always thinking that I need some real help just because I won't talk to you."

"Think about what you just said, Luke."

We both share a hard stare at each other, and I watch as Luke clenches and unclenches his jaw over and over, but no matter how many times he does this, I'm still not scared of him.
"I'm fucking done. Show me to the door."

"Say please."

"Do really want me to cause a scene down there?"

"Fine." I obligate and walk with him downstairs, trying to hide my redden face. "Mom, Luke has to be heading home." I say.

"By Luke, come back anytime." Mom hugs him, which I can tell make him feel uncomfortable, but I don't care.

This time Dad says, "Goodbye, Luke. Feel free to come back."

"Thank you. I'll see you around, yeah?" Luke puts on a fake smile and walks out the door in front of me. We stand there for a moment, not saying anything until he sighs and starts walking.

"See you too, Luke!" I call after him.

Luke turns around and give me the middle finger as a response.

___

After Luke and I had our fallout, Michael left to go catch up with him and Violet stayed over for a little while longer, but thankfully she didn't push any questions. I think she kind of knows how our relationship works. But now Violet has gone home and my parents had to take a late shift at work, so only Parker and I are home. I'm sitting on the couch with a bowl of ice cream watch Lifetime movies when Parker walks down the stairs to come talk.

"What's up?" He asks.

"What's up?" I rhetorically ask. "What's up with you? Why did you act that way with Luke today? You never acted that way with Michael, and most certainly not Violet. If you think Luke looks bad, you should see my other friends." I ramble on.

"Maddy, that's not the case at all. Yes maybe the tattoos are a little intimidating, but that's not why I was like that." Parker pauses, then sighs. "You've got a boyfriend with tattoos." He admits his real problem.

I honestly laugh at this. "Parker, we're not dating. In fact before he left we were fighting."
"So he's not your friend either?" Parker chuckles at his confusion.

I shrug. "It's complicated. But as of right now we pretty much hate each other, which will probably change by tomorrow, then that'll change too."

"Wow." He laughs, rubbing his temple.

"Don't worry about me, okay? I want to hear about you. How come you moved all the way across the country? I thought you, Mom and Dad didn't get along."

"Well, I moved out of the house to stop moving around all the time, but as soon as I moved out, I found myself still moving around. The guy I was living with moved off to be with his family, and I met this girl that I started dating so I moved in with her, but we broke up and I figured, 'Hey I can't get out of this moving train, so why not go back to this nuthouse?'."

"Makes sense." I nod, smiling. "They say were not moving again, though."

"Do you believe that?"

I nod. "Yeah. It seems legit this time, with them having their own business down here, why would they need to move?"

"Right. So what are you doing after school tomorrow?"

"Nothing. Whatcha got in mind?"

"Scope out the town a little. I'm sure you haven't done much of it."

"Okay." I say. "I'll be in bed though, it's been a long day. Goodnight."

"Yeah."

___

I change into a night shirt and crawl into bed, placing my head just right on my pillow. I drift off right when he opens the door to my patio. "Why the fuck are you here?" I hiss.

"I don't.. I don't know.." Luke drags out, looking anywhere but my face.

"I think you do."

"I'm sorry. I hate ending things like that with you, but your just in my head all the time and I can't get you out no matter how hard I try. I'm trying, I'm trying so hard not to push you out just like I do to everyone, but it's just so hard. A-and I really like you, but I'm scared to show it, Madison. I'm scared because the last people I cared a lot about left, and I don't want to see you do the same." Luke says, pouring out his heart to me.

"Luke, I don't know how many times I have to tell you this, but I'm not going anywhere. I can put up with your shit because it doesn't faze me. I'm will to work myself inside your head so you'll open up. I'm here." I smile and pull his face to mine.

Luke kisses back with full force and pushes me back on my bed. He crawls over on top of me and kisses down my neck while putting his clamy hands on my sides, pulling me closer to him. Luke attaches his mouth back on to me and slides his tongue across my bottom lip asking for entry which I allow. Our tongues battle for dominance while his hands slide down the front of my panties. A small moan escapes from my mouth and I feel him smirk and kiss me again. As good as this feels, I know that I can't go on with this. Luke is right we hardly know each other, so we can't do this until we're honestly both ready.

"Luke stop." I say breathlessly, pushing him away.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what-"

"Your fine, but we should probably get to know each other better, you know?"

Luke nods and his eyes start to shimmer. "Then will you be my girlfriend?"
