I've Got This Friend

"Your popcorn, m'lady." Ashton giggles sitting down the huge bowl of popcorn on my table.

"Thanks silly." We decided to watch Finding Nemo. It's one of Ashton's favorite movies.

Ash leans over and pulls me closer to him to where my head lays on his chest. He hums, getting comfy. "Do you like anybody?" He asks out of the blue.

"Yeah I like you, duh."

"No. I mean, do you like, like anyone. As a crush."

"Um no. Not that I know of. Why?"

"Just wondering." Ash fidgets with the hem of his shirt.

"Do you have a crush?" I ask him as his face flushes.

"I- well, yeah kind of."

"Aweh! Who Ashy? Who?" I squeal, lifting my head up to get a good look at his face.

"Nobody! She does like me anyways. She would never go for me."

"Who is it? I can help."

He shakes his head. "No. It's fine. Plus I think she likes someone else anyways, even though I have know clue if she's lying to me or not about it."

"Alright then."

"Let's do something fun." Ash says after a moment of silence

"Like what?"

"Would you fancy a night swim?"

"The pools are closed at night."

"Not the way we do." We laugh.

"Okay, let me change."

"Your about to get soooo wet!" Ashton cries jumping in the water at full speed. I giggle trying to swim my way away, but I'm not quick enough.

The water engulfs my head, as I sink under. When my body floats back up to the surface, I let it go limp, just hovering.

"Jessie!" Ashton shakes me. "Did I hurt you?"

I try holding out for a little bit longer, trying to scare him more, but my breath gives out. With a gasp, I come back up laughing. "Got you! You were so scared!"

"Damn you!" He grabs me by my waist and slings me over his shoulder.

"Let me down!"

"Nope." He calmly says.

After a while, our skin gets all wrinkley and dry, so we set out in the moonlight, drying off.
"Does you mum even know where we are?"

"No." I grin.

Ash sighs next to me, propping his hands up behind his head. "I wish days like these would last forever. Days when I can lay next to you, and be myself. Days when we can laugh and not even think about tomorrow. When I'm with you, there is no tomorrow."

"I feel the same way." I smile.

Ash sighs again, and turns away, ignoring my comment. "We should go back. This time we have to go back to school."

"Right." I agree with him.

On the way back to my home, he barely talked to me. His responses we things like one word answers instead of full on rants that made no since. He gets moody a lot so maybe he just needed some sleep.

I'll tell you something, this was not like the sleepovers we used to have. Maybe it's because we're older now. I'm not saying I didn't like it, because I had a blast, but I was definitely different.
