I've Got This Friend
Chapter Two
"Hey so how was the wedding?" Calum wonders as I walk in the school.
"Fine I guess." I sigh.
"But what?"
"Well I guess its just that now its more surreal that my mum doesn't live my dad anymore. I wish I had parents like Ashton's parents."
"What about me?" Ashton asks, putting his large hands on my shoulder.
"Nothing." I say because I know he heard what we said.
"Tell me." He whines. After a while I don't talk and Calum understands what I'm doing and follows along. "My parents aren't that perfect."
"Ha! I knew you knew what we were talking about."
Ash gives me a 'what the fuck, Jessica' look and shakes his head, sighing. We reach the post where we normally meet up with Luke and Michael, but they weren't there. "Great now we get to be late for them." Cal complains.
As Ash and Cal get caught up in their own conversations, I notice stray girls walking past and checking them out. Ashton especially. He's always been the hottie of our group. He's the one that everybody wants to go to the dance with, or picked for a partner. I honestly don't know how I fall in the category as a best friend to them. I'm definitely not hot, or cute, or pretty. None of that nonsense. I'm just average.
"There you are!" Ash exclaims, throwing his hands in the air to express his point.
"Sorry, we stopped to get food. Luke kept whining cause he was hungry." Michael explains, as Luke makes a satisfied face.
"Let's go. I wanna get a good seat today in class." Calum rushes us out of the hall, practically making us catch up with him.
We take the back of the room, for once. Calum is right in a way, we normally get the really bad seats in the front of the class because we come in two seconds before the bell rings.
"Okay class, take out you textbooks and turn to page 182." The teacher tells us.
"Did you hear that? Turn to page, Blink-182." Michael snickers, as Luke laughs harder than he should have.
Before I get time to laugh at his somewhat funny joke, the classroom door opens, revealing a tall beautiful boy. The administrative hands our teacher a pack of papers, which he calmly takes. "Go take a seat anywhere you want to, Jack." The teacher tries to whisper, but we heard it from all the way in the back.
Luckily there were a couple more seats left, but today they were in the back of the room. He looks up sheepishly and makes eye contact with me. I tear my eyes away from him, hoping that he wouldn't want to talk to me. Sure enough, he makes his way over to our group. "Un is this seat taken?" Jack nervously asks.
"Nah, mate your good." Luke tells him.
"Hi I'm Jack."
"Luke. Nice to meet you. How long have you been here?"
"Oh uh I just got here today." Jack nods.
"We'll make you feel right at home." Calum grins, sounding creepy, but funny at the same time. "I'm Calum."
"I'm Ashton." Ash puts out a hand, him being his old school self. Jack takes it.
I start scribbling down random things to make It look like I was bust so I didn't have to talk. As everything goes silent, I look up. Everyone in the group had their eyes on me. "I'm Jessica. Hi." I smile, feeling my face go red.
"You have really pretty eyes." Jack tells me.
"Flirting on the first day, I see." Michael winks at him.
"No, no I uh. You just have pretty eyes. I don't even know you." He winds up blushing.
"It's fine. Thanks."
Pretty much the day was a drag, I don't have any other classes with the rest of the boys, but I did have a class with Jack. Ashton kept zoning out a lot today, too. Mostly every time Jack would come around, he would just stop listening and distance himself from the conversation.
Anyways, we were now talking the regular route back to our houses. Today Ash was coming home with me, since we do this thing where whenever somebody had to study for a test, we help each other.
"What are you studying for?" Ash asks once we come inside.
"English." I say with a groan.
"English is kind of easy."
"To you maybe." I retort.

"Your going to ace it!" He gives me his words of encouragement.
"Remember when we used to have sleep overs together, and we used to think it was so cool because it was a school night, and most kids weren't allowed to have other people over?"
"And we would stay up so late, laughing about the stories we would tell each other. Then the next day we would wake up and be so tired, the we didn't even go to school."
"Yeah. When was the last time we had a sleep over?"
"Grade 5, I believe."
"Will you stay over tonight?" I ask with a smile.
"If you'll stay at my house next week."
"Deal." We both laugh at nothing really. "I love you Ash. Your a good friend you know."
"You are too." He agrees with me, but murmurs something under his breath.
"What?"
"Nothing. Let's get this party started!"
Notes
I'm so sorry that I haven't been updating as frequent. I've got a lot to do with school starting back and stuff, and it just takes my time. This chapter may have been kinda boring, but this is leading into something I have planned, so we'll see how it works.
