I've Got This Friend

Chapter One

*Jessica's POV*

"Jessica you look fine. Please stop complaining." My sister Emmy barks at me. She's the one who's got the looks in my opinion. She's the girly girl who looks nice in dresses. I'm more of a skinny jeans, converse/vans, and a nice ripped band shirt type lady.

"I don't want to got to this stupid wedding. I don't want Travis to become my stepdad." I complain some more. Today was the day that my mum was getting remarried. My dad left us when I was real little so I don't remember him much, although sometimes on like holidays or just really rare occasions, I have to travel halfway across the world to spend time with him.

Travis is my mum's boyfriend. Or in this case, her soon to be husband. It's not that I don't like him, it's just we don't see eye to eye on things so we bicker a lot. I know he means well, but I don't know if I'm ready to have a new dad. I guess I'm just on guard about it. But out of the goodness of my heart, I will support it because he makes my mum happy, and that's all I ever want for her. That goes both ways.

"Jessica! Stop! Get over it! This isn't your place to decide what's best for mum. You'll either suck it up and be happy for her, or ruin her happiness. Which do you choose?"

"Please you know which one I chose. But that's easy for you to say, you don't live here."

"Your right, but I'd still want mum to be happy."

"Girls let me see you!" Mum calls from the stairwell. I groan as Emmy grabs my wrist and pulls me with her.

"You look magnificent! Jessica! oh how beautiful! It really shows off your figure. Just like I was hoping for. Just as usual, Emmy, so stunning." Mum gushes. I roll my eyes.

"Hey, hey, hey." One thing I forgot is that mine and Ashton's family is really close. Which means the only good thing that will be coming out of today, is that Ashton will be attending the wedding too.

"Ashton!" I yelp, running to receive a hug.

"Hey Jessie. You look beautiful as always. Weird not seeing you in skinny jeans."

"I would wear them if I could, but thanks anyways."

"Well lets get a move on, the perception waits for no one!" Mum exaggerates, pushing us out the door.

'Except for the bride a groom." I murmur sarcastically.

___

"Aww Jessica, don't you look so beautiful in a dress." Ashton's mum, Anne Marie, compliments me.

"Thank you." I smile.

Ashton and I take our seats in the church, sliding in next to one another. "Who woulda thought, your mum would be getting remarried?" Ashton whispers to me.

"I know. Who knows if it'll last this time. You know she's wearing the same dress she wore when her and my dad were getting married?"

"Isn't that bad luck?"

"I'll let you know."

Music from the piano starts playing the cliché Here Comes the Bride, while mum starts walking down the aisle, along with her flower girls. She's met up on the stage with Travis; his wing men behind him. "And do you, Marry Montgomery, take Travis Cooper as your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest goes through the necessary list of questions.

"I do." My mother said with a smile, and pure look of love in her eyes.

"And do you, Travis Cooper, take Marry Montgomery as your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do." Travis accepted. And then they kiss, and now, legally, Travis is my new dad.

Once that was over, we were all excused to go eat in the dinning hall, where Travis and my mum had cut the cake. Ashton was the first one to grab a slice, cutting two pieces. One for me and one for him. "Ashton you could've gotten two plates so my fork isn't all over yours, and vice versa." I giggle picking at the desert anyways.

"No it's fine. Plus I'm too lazy to carry two plates of food over here. It's just easier." Ash shrugs.

"Jessica, you look beautiful. Thanks for coming." Travis smiles.

"Travis, why wouldn't I come? You married my mum after all." I give him a confused look, ignoring his compliment.

"I know how we are. I'm glad to be a part of your family."

"Lets hope you can live up to the standards." I grin, obviously kidding.

"I'm getting more cake, you want anything?"

"Geez, Ash if you eat anymore cake, your gonna turn into one."

"We both know that's not true." He giggles, walking back to the food bar.

I sit there for the time that Ashton's gone just watching people. Children I didn't know were running around, getting there nice clothes all dirty. I watch the elder people laughing and casually drinking and eating, keeping their chatting down to a minimum. Then there was the younger people like my sisters age, to my parents age. They either tried keeping their children calm or were loudly laughing and making conversation with everybody else.

"Whatcha looking at?" Ash startles. I hadn't even noticed him being back.

"Nothing. Uh it's just interesting to watch how different generations act with one another. Human life is just interesting." Ashton giggles. "What?"

"Nothing. Your just so.. curious."

After a couple more hours of getting pointless compliments and Ashton and I wondering around, the wedding session was over. Travis was officially my father. Through hard times like these I know I could always count on Ashton to be there for me. Out of the mutual friends we share, he's definitely my best friend. He's like a brother to me. He'll always be here to pick me up and dust me off, and I'm grateful to have someone like that.

Notes

Hi fellas! So I decided to take my other Ashton story down and put this one up. I hope you like it better than the other one, because I know for one I wasn't feeling it. And when the writer doesn't feel it, it's probably not good.
Anyways, Vote/Subscribe/and Comment if you wish
