Meeting the parents.

Two weeks had passed and Penny was finally on her way home, she was so excited to see her family and friends and especially to tell Mauri about everything that had happened with Harry. The last two weeks had gone by smoothly. Lots of stolen glances, sneaky kisses, and even a few more risqué positions were had between Harry and Penny. They were finally in Dallas and Penny was going to be able to go see her mom and it was her birthday, the timing couldn’t have been better.
Black heels clicked against the pavement as Penny walked out of the hotel toward the parking lot where her rental car was parked. She opened the door and crawled in. Checking her reflection in the rearview mirror only to let out a blood curdling scream at what she saw.
Harry erupted into laughter and pulled the ski mask up to reveal his face. “Jeez Penny, calm down. Sorry love.” He said between laughs and then climbed into the front passenger seat. Penny was regaining her composure, her breathing staggering before she popped him as hard as she could on his shoulder.
“Fuck Harry! You gave me a heart attack.” She would speak as she moved her hand back to her chest, as if to hold her heart inside her. Harry would let out a yelp once her skin contacted with his, holding his shoulder in his hand to mockingly nurse it. “Ow, hostile.” He said before giving her a smile, his jaws chomping away at a piece of cinnamon gum.
“Where are we off to then?” He asked, pulling his seatbelt on. Penny hadn’t invited him; he’d just assumed he was going with her. Penny blinked, she hadn’t intended on introducing him to her family let alone her ex boyfriend who was definitely going to be there.
She un-fastened his seat belt and gave him a smile, “I’m going to my mom’s for her birthday. You’re going to go do something that’s not that.. sooo have a good day!” She would speak quickly, her eyes darting quickly to the door handle, signaling he should get out.
“Oh, not a chance, I can’t wait to meet your mum.” He pulled the seatbelt back over his torso and strapped himself in. Penny knew fighting him was useless, she let out a defeated sigh and turned the key, shifted into gear, and they were on their way.

Penny’s home was nice, her father had been a wealthy lawyer and her mother had made a living illustrating children’s books. Penny grew up with every privilege imaginable, but her mother always made sure she knew what she had and didn’t take it for granted. Penny grew up volunteering at local shelters, giving countless hours to bathing shelter animals, teaching children how to read, and also donating anything she didn’t really need to help out those less fortunate. She’d always known she was blessed and did her best to give back to the community. Her house was made of peachy bricks that went up two stories, the windows in the front were large and clean, the front door was a bright red, and their yard was impeccably decorated. She parked in their driveway; her mother’s smiling face was already coming out of the garage, long black curls bouncing as she ran to the car. Penny had hardly gotten out of the door when she was being swept up in her mother’s embrace.
“My baby!” Her mother cried before pressing her lips to the girls straight black hair and pushing her out some, her hands resting on her shoulders now. “You’ve grown, how are you still growing? Oh you’re just as beautiful as ever!” With those words the embrace was back, her mother was always doting on her, always making her feel special. Harry had finally made his way over to the pair, giving her mom a grin as he waited to be acknowledged. It was nice to see where Penny had come from and even nicer to see how close she and her mother were.
“Mom.” Penny’s voice was muffled as she spoke, finally breaking free from her grasp and nodding over to Harry.
“This is Harry, he’s in the band.” She said with a small laugh. Her mother turned her attention to the tall boy, looking him over; his hair was long, tied up with a scarf of some type, and he was wearing the tightest pair of jeans she’d ever seen. He was gorgeous though, his smile alone could melt a million hearts.
“Harry, it’s so lovely to meet you. I’m Evelyn. You can call me mom though. All Penny’s friends do.” She said with a wink before giving him a hug. She’d known something was up with Penny, she never brought boys home and she’d noticed her twitter updates had been extra happy as of late. “Penelope has told me all about you, where are the rest of the boys?” She asked, looking over to the car to make sure she hadn’t missed any of them. “You bring Harry and not Niall? You know I have an eye for him…” Her mother said with a wink and like clockwork her father appeared, his arms held out for a hug as Penny spotted him and immediately leapt into his arms. He gave the best bear hugs and Penelope had been missing him something fierce. “I’ve missed you so much papa.” She said as she buried her head into his chest, smelling the familiar scent that she’d known since she was a baby; clean linen and old spice.
“I missed you too Penelope.” Her father replied, smoothing his hand over her hair.
“Clearly someone’s got a favorite.” Evelyn said with a smirk, nudging Harry playfully.
“David, Penelope has brought a guest. This is Harry.” She said introducing him with a smile; David walked over and extended a hand. Harry shook his hand and suddenly felt nervous, why did he think this was a good idea. Father’s were extremely intimidating to him. Penny could see the terror on Harry’s face, she would quickly divert her father’s attention. “Papa, I got you a gift!” She said with a grin, grabbing her bag out of the car and pulling out a small wrapped box. Her father smiled, taking the box and opening it up rather slowly just to torture the girl.
“Cmon!” She said, stomping her foot impatiently. Harry let out a laugh, liking the way she acted with her family. She seemed so at home, like she had nothing in her way of being herself.
Her teeth were beaming as her father opened the box, revealing a set of bright green tickets, the words “FIFA WORLD CUP 2014” printed on them. Her father’s jaw dropped and he looked at her awestruck. “Penelope, how did you get these!?” He asked, trying to contain his excitement. She shrugged, her head hinting at Harry “Friends in high places.” Harry let out a laugh, liking how this was all playing out.
“Thank you, thank you.” Her father said as he pulled her in for another hug, trying to hide the tears in his eyes. He’d always wanted to go to a world cup, since he was a young boy growing up in Panama, before he moved to Texas and made a name for himself and found a lovely wife to start a family with. He never expected his youngest daughter to give him such a wonderful gift.
“Don’t fret mom, your birthday present is just as outrageous.” Penny said as they all made their way into the house.
