Strong (Book 2 in the No Control series)

I wince as the technician puts the cold jelly on my stomach. Looking over at Liam, I squeeze his hand, giving him an everything will be ok wink. Sonograms always make him nervous.
The technician turns up the sound, allowing us to hear our baby’s heartbeat. “The doctor will be right in.”
Liam moves closer, laying his head on my chest as he stares at the monitor.
“What are you doing, Handsome?”
“I am listening to the heartbeats of the two people I love most in this world.”
“Oh Liam, you’re going to make me cry.”
He moves to kiss me. Looking in my eyes. “I love you, Beautiful.”
Laying my hand alongside his face, I tell him. “I love you more, Handsome.”
He turns his head to look at our baby on the screen. “We made that, Love.”
I laugh. “We sure did, Baby.”

“Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Payne. Let’s take a look at your little one.”
The doctor points out body parts to us. “Did you want to know the sex?”
Both Liam and I quickly say no.
“Everything looks great. The baby is doing well. I’ll print a picture for you.”
As I get dressed, I look over at Liam. He’s sitting in the corner with the picture of our baby. Approaching him, I ask. “You alright?”
He looks up at me with a sparkle of tears in his eyes. “Everyday I fall more and more in love with our baby.” He kisses my belly. Then standing up, he looks down into my eyes. “And everyday, I fall more and more in love with you, Liz.”
I lay my head on his chest, breathing in his scent as he kisses the top of my head.
