One Direction Short Stories

A Fairy Tale - Liam

Liam and I have been in my hotel room watching a film. “That was a great movie.” I say as I walk to the fridge to get us each a water. Liam follows right behind me. “Yes it was.” He replies. Funny though, he sounds nervous.
When I straighten up after grabbing the waters from the fridge, Liam is right there. Our faces so close. I know where my thoughts are right now, but where are his?
Liam answers my thoughts by putting his hand in my hair and leaning down to kiss me. I stare into his beautiful eyes as his mouth gets closer to mine. I am tingling with anticipation. I’ve dreamt of this moment a million times.
Liam abruptly stops short of my lips. “I have to go.” He says and turns to leave.
“Liam, wait! What’s wrong?” I follow him to the door and grab his arm. “I’m sorry if I misunderstood.”
He looks into my eyes. “No, it’s not…..I just have to go.” He says as he heads out the door and down the hall.
I watch him for a moment then go back inside my room. I lean back against the door. The tears flow down my face. What the hell just happened?
I’m sitting on the couch crying, trying to understand what happened. There’s a knock on my door. I run to answer it, hoping it’s Liam to explain.
It’s not Liam, it’s my friend Stacy. She’s visiting me for a week while I’m on tour with the guys. “Rachel, are you ok?”
I move aside for her to come in. “Not really.”
We sit down and I share with her exactly what happened.
“What an ass!” She says.
“That’s the thing, he’s not an ass. Not at all. The only thing I can think of is I must have misunderstood. I thought he wanted to kiss me. I guess not, though.”
Stacy frowns. “Maybe just avoid him for a couple days. Let everything die down.”
I shake my head. “I can’t avoid him. I’m their personal assistant. It’s my job to be around them.”
Stacy gives me a hug. “I’m sorry, Rachel. I hate to see you so upset.”

The next few days go by slowly. Things with Liam are a little awkward. I try to act as normal as possible. Liam doesn’t mention the incident at all.

Friday night everyone decides to go out to a local club. Before we head out, Stacy insists on choosing my outfit. “You need to make Liam realize what he’s missing.” She pulls a dress from the closet. “No, I never wear that one.” I tell her.
“Why? It’s perfect.”
“It’s too short, and shows too much cleavage.” I insist.
“That’s exactly why it’s perfect. Go try it on.”
I come out in the red dress Stacy chose. She smiles. “Yep, that’s the one. Let’s go.”

At the club, Stacy and I get a drink and have a seat on a sofa. “Liam has been watching you from the moment we walked in here.” Stacy tells me.
I look over and catch his eye. I turn away. “He probably just feels awkward around me.”
Liam’s friend Andy approaches us. He puts his hand out to me. “Care to dance, love?”
I look over at Stacy and she nods her head yes. “Sure Andy, I’d love to.” I tell him. He takes my hand and leads me to the dance floor.
We dance together to a couple of faster songs. A slow song comes on next and Andy pulls me close. I put my arms around his neck. We sway together to the music. He moves his head down near my neck and starts to whisper something in my ear. Then we are physically torn apart from each other. It’s Liam. He looks at Andy. “What the hell are you doing?” Then he turns to me. “Come with me, please?” He doesn’t wait for an answer. He takes my hand and leads me to a back hallway in the club.
“Why are you with Andy?” Liam asks me.
I thought he was angry, but I notice now his expression is more hurt. “Why do you care? Maybe he wants me, you certainly don’t.” I tell him.
Liam looks at me, hurt. Then he looks me up and down. Taking in all of me in the red dress. He moves quickly and has me up against the wall. His face mere millimeters away from mine. “I do want you, Rach. I want you so bad.”
As he’s pushing his body even farther up against mine, I can actually feel how badly he wants me. I look into his dark eyes and his lips are on mine. So gentle at first. Such a contrast to his hard body up against mine so forcefully. I open my mouth and my tongue seeks out his. Liam moans, as I tug at his tongue with my teeth.
Liam pulls back. He kisses me on my forehead then says. “Look what you do to me, love.”
I put my hand alongside Liam’s face. “I don’t understand, Liam. Do you have feelings for me, or not?”
He turns his head and kisses my palm. “Yes Rachel. I have feelings for you, I have for sometime.”
I shake my head. “I just don’t understand. Then why did you leave the other night so abruptly?”
Liam puts his hand in my hair, just like he did that night. “If I hadn’t left right then, I wouldn’t have been able to stop.”
I look at him as though he is absolutely nuts. “Stop? Who the hell wanted you to stop?”
I put my hands on his chest, where his shirt has several buttons undone. “I want you too, Liam. Very much.” I pull on his shirt to bring him down to my level. My mouth is on his again. I reluctantly pull back so he can answer me.
Liam rest his forehead against mine for a moment before explaining. “Rachel, I’m sorry about that night, love. I have had feelings for you for awhile. The reason I acted like such an ass….well...you aren’t the kind of girl that a guy just takes to bed. You are the kind of girl that a guy has to earn. The kind of girl a guy takes out on special dates and proves that he’s worthy of her.”
I feel my eyes fill with tears, as I look into Liam’s honest, sweet eyes.
“I’m so sorry I was an ass that night, Rachel.” Liam says.
I smile. “Well then Mr. Payne, how are you going to make it up to me?”
Liam grins. “Let me take you on our first date. Right now.”

Paddy leads Liam and I out of the club to a waiting car. Liam talks with the driver for a moment then we head out.
We sit together in the back seat, side by side. I can feel Liam’s eyes on me. I turn to look at him. He smiles as our eyes meet, reaching out and gently taking my hand. A look of hopefulness in his eyes. I smile and squeeze his hand. He takes this as the approval it is and leans in to kiss me softly.
The driver stops outside of a burger restaurant. Liam looks at me. “Is this alright? Or would you rather go someplace a bit more fancy?”
I grin. “This is perfect!”
It’s late and there is hardly anyone else here. We sit in a nice, private corner booth. It’s as though that awkward night never happened. Liam and I have an amazing time. Laughing and talking. I’ve never felt so comfortable with anyone in my life.
Next thing we know we hear a throat clearing. It’s Paddy. “It’s almost 4am, we should go.” Liam and I look at each other shocked. Apparently time has stood still for us.
I watch as Liam leaves an extremely large tip for the waitress. I’m sure that will make up for her having to stay so late. We both thank her on the way out.
Back at the hotel, I tell Liam how much I’ve enjoyed our first date. He wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close. “I don’t want it to end. Come watch the sunrise with me?”
I nod my head yes. Liam leads me to his balcony. We cuddle up together on the lounge chair with a blanket. We talk and wait for the sunrise.
We quietly watch as this incredible sight unfolds. I lay my head on Liam’s chest as he kisses my head sweetly. Liam and I fall asleep just like that.
We both want more from each other. For right now though, this is enough.

The next day is a day off for the guys. Liam insists we make it a two date day. On our way out of the hotel for our lunch date, we run into Andy. Liam’s anger emerges. “What the hell do you think you were doing last night, mate?”
Andy just smiles.
“You think this is funny? You knew how I felt about Rachel.” Liam tells him.
Andy puts his hand on Liam’s shoulder. “Yes mate, I did know how you felt about Rachel. And what I did last night, got you to finally tell her. Didn’t it?”
Realization comes over Liam’s face. “Well played my friend. Thank you.”
Andy grins. “It’s alright. You just needed a bit of an emotional shove.”

“So where are we going?” I ask Liam.
“It’s a surprise, love.”
The surprise ends up being an incredible picnic lunch in the park. I’m not sure which is more romantic, the lunch, or the walk we take together after.

For our evening date, I’ll be meeting Liam somewhere. The driver drops me off outside a museum. Paddy greets me and escorts me inside. I find Liam inside a room full of beautiful paintings. He’s standing beside our candlelight dinner. He walks towards me.
“You look beautiful, love.”
“Thank you. You are looking quite handsome.”
He grins and gives me a kiss. Our kisses lately have been rather tame. We both know anything more, and neither one of us would be able to stop.
Liam and I share yet another incredible meal together. Afterwards we explore the whole museum. We have it all to ourselves.
At one point I stop and wrap my arms around Liam’s neck. “I just want you to know Liam, that you are doing an incredible job of “earning” me.”
He grins. “I’m glad.” His eyes get dark with want. He kisses me, then pulls back. I put my hand alongside Liam’s face. Sometimes I wonder why we are putting each other through this waiting. It’s very clear what we both want.

The next two days the guys have concerts. It’s a bit hectic, yet Liam always finds time for us to share little mini dates. While everyone else eats together, Liam steals me away and we share our meal together, alone, in a private corner of the stadium. My mind wanders to what else we could be doing together in this private corner of the stadium. When I look up and meet Liam’s eyes, it’s obvious he’s thinking the same thing.
If this boy doesn’t finish “earning” me soon, I may need to take matters into my own hands.

We all have a few days off. Liam tells me to be ready early. He’s taking me away for our time off. He even has my friend Stacy pack for me, so I won’t know where we are going.
Liam informs me that we have a couple hour ride in the car. We make ourselves comfortable in the backseat.
I’ve had feelings for Liam for sometime now. However those feelings have grown immensely over the last few days. Just the fact that he knows that he could have me at any time, yet he respects me enough to wait, to “earn” me. I’m looking out the window thinking about this when I hear Liam begin to sing along with the song on the radio. I look over at him, he’s looking at me. The song is John Legend, All of Me. Liam takes my hand and looks in my eyes. Singing every word to me sweetly, genuinely. I squeeze his hand as I realize what I hadn’t before. I’ve fallen in love with Liam Payne.

We pull up in front of an adorable little cottage, right on the beach. “Liam, It’s so cute. It looks like a gingerbread house.”
Liam laughs. “It belongs to a friend of mine. I was hoping you’d like it.” He pulls me into his arms. “I thought it would be nice and cozy.” He raises his eyebrows before leaning down to kiss me. He starts to pull away, but I pull him back in for another kiss.
We check out the cottage, then change into our suits and head out to the beach. As we get close to the water’s edge, Liam picks me up and runs into the waves with me. We laugh, and play around, teasing each other. I can’t remember a time I’ve had so much fun.
After, we take a long walk on the beach. Liam’s hand is firmly holding mine. I look down and think how perfectly they fit together. I don’t want him to ever let go.
At one point we stop to watch the ocean. Liam touches my cheek gently. “You are so beautiful, Rachel. Inside and out. I’m not sure I’m worthy of you, love.”
I shake my head. “No Liam. Baby, I’m the one not worthy of you.”
He leans down. Kissing my forehead first, then moving to my lips. Such gentle, sweet kisses. I feel it not only in my heart, but in my soul as well.

Back at the cottage, Liam makes us dinner. I sit at the counter and watch him in the kitchen. My heart leaps each time he looks at me and smiles.
“Are you sure I can’t help you?” I ask him. He pauses, looking at me with the most adorable look in his eyes. “Nope Princess, I want to take care of you.” Then he walks over and kisses me sweetly on the top of my head.
That’s it! I can’t take it anymore! I walk over to Liam and take his hand. “Come with me.” I lead him to the bedroom.
“Are you sure Rach?” Liam asks me.
I lay my hand on Liam’s cheek, rubbing my thumb across his whiskers. “Yes Liam, I am absolutely sure.”
He smiles. “So I’ve earned you?”
“Oh Liam, yes you have definitely earned me. I am yours for as long as you’d like. I hope that’s a very long time?”
Liam runs his fingers through my hair. “My Princess, I want you forever.” Then his mouth is on mine. Our tongues quickly exploring. I pull off Liam’s shirt and kiss his chest before he pulls my shirt off and pushes me up against the wall. He’s kissing my neck then whispering in my ear. “I’ve waited so long for this, love.” I push Liam back for a moment, looking into his eyes. “I’m glad you left that night Liam. And I’m glad you wanted to earn me. Waiting has made this even more incredible.”
Liam grins adorably. Then he is placing sweet kisses down my chest. I take off my bra and Liam pauses to look me up and down. “You are so beautiful, Princess.”
We finish undressing each other. I take Liam’s hand and lead him to the bed. He starts at my neck and kisses every inch of me, trailing down my body. The occasional nibbles causing me to tremble with pleasure. As he makes his way down my body the pleasure only intensifies. I grasp on to his hair as I scream out in pure ecstasy. My body is still quivering as he enters me. His fullness awakens parts of me I hadn’t known existed. Liam and I lock eyes as our rhythm matches perfectly. The loving, happy look in Liam’s beautiful chocolate eyes, causes tears to slide out of mine. We never break eye contact as we go over the edge together. Screaming out each other’s names. We stay just like that for a moment. Eyes locked together, as the waves continue. Then Liam lies beside me, pulling me into his arms.
“Liam, that was incredible. So worth the wait.” I kiss his chest. Taking his hand, I entwine my fingers with his.
Liam looks at our hands. “They fit together quite nicely, don’t they?” Then he kisses my hand. “Rach, I’m glad we waited as well. I need you to know that I’ve fallen for you.”
The hopeful look in his eyes, makes my heart swell with love for him. “Oh Liam, baby I’ve fallen for you too.” The biggest smile comes across his face.

So the moral of this fairy tale is, a princess should always wait for a prince who’s willing to earn her.
