Don't Let Me Go ~ N.H.
Chapter 5
On Friday night, the doorbell rang precisely at seven. I was getting ready, so Daddy answered the door.
~~~~~
Niall’s POV
I rang Carlie’s doorbell at seven. A man with balding brown hair answered it. “Hello, you must be Niall,” he said in a southern accent.
‘Yes, I am,” I said. “Is Carlie ready?”
“Just about. Come on in!” I followed Mr. Jennings inside and sat on the couch with him. Buddy and Lorna bounded up to me and started licking me. Buddy had my face, while Lorna licked my fingers. “I just have a few rules for dating my daughter. One, have her home by twelve. Two, you break her heart, I break your face. Got it?”
I gulped just as Carlie came down. She looked stunning in a cute pink top and jeans. She had straightened her hair for the occasion.
Carlie’s POV
When I came downstairs, Niall’s face lit up. I blushed and giggled.
“Hello, Carlie,” Niall said. “Ready to go?”
“Yeah,” I replied. “You didn’t go too hard on him, did you, Daddy?”
Daddy chuckled. “No, not at all. You two have fun, and be home by twelve!”
“Thanks, Mr. Jennings,” Niall said, and escorted me to his car.
“So, tell me about yourself,” Niall said as we waited for our food.
“Well, I was born and raised in Lindale, Georgia,” I began. “I love country music, and I’ve always wanted to be a country singer.”
(A/N: I don’t really like country music lln)
“Oh, really? Sing for me. I mean, I’ve heard you sing in chorus, but…” I could tell Niall was getting flustered, so I put my hand on his.
‘Niall, it’s okay. It’s pretty hard to hear one person when a whole group is singing anyways.” I cleared my throat and started to sing “I Need You” by LeAnn Rimes.
“Wow…have you ever heard of ‘The X-Factor’?”
“Yeah, isn’t that the show Leona Lewis won?”
“Yeah! You should audition.”
I blushed and giggled. “Nah…”
“Come on! What have you got to lose?”
“I don’t know…I mean, what if I end up winning? I’ll be famous! I’m not ready for that.”
Our food came, and Niall changed the subject. “So, what’s it like in Georgia? Pretty warm, I imagine.”
“Yeah, this was a big change for me. The three feet of snow came as a big shock to me.”
“I’ll bet it did!”
We talked for the whole meal about our likes, dislikes, and everything in between.
After dinner, Niall took me for a stroll in the park. We ended up building a snowman and having a snowball fight. We finally knocked off around eleven and went home.
“I had a great time tonight,” I said when we were at my doorstep.
“Me too,” Niall agreed. “Oh, you’ve got some Nando’s sauce on your lips.”
“I do? Oh, let me get that!”
“No, don’t bother. I’ll just…” Niall cut himself off with a kiss on the lips. I let his tongue enter my mouth, and I put my tongue in his. We continued to make out for the next ten minutes, and then we pulled away, said goodnight, and went our separate ways.
thanks, Cathy! There will be a sequel, too!
