Niall’s POV

The next day, I couldn’t stop thinking about Carlie. I kept shooting her looks during class, but whenever she looked back, I’d look away.

“Do you have a crush on Carlie?” Harry asked at lunch.

“Maybe…” I said, blushing.

“You SO have a crush on her! We can’t say her name without you blushing!” Liam said.

“Say her name ONCE and watch me not blush!”

“Okay…Carlie Jennings,” Zayn said.

My face turned forty shades of pink.

“See? Told ya! I dare you to ask her out.”

“I told you, I do NOT have a crush on her!” I took my tray and threw out the remains of my lunch.

“Uh…mate…you just threw out the whole thing,” Harry said, laughing.

I pulled the tray out of the trashcan and put it in a pile with other dirty trays.

Carlie’s POV

At the end of the day, I was walking out with Sam when Niall stopped me. He looked very uncomfortable.

“Is something wrong, Niall?” I asked.

“N-no…I-I just…” Niall stuttered.

Harry came up and whispered something in Niall’s ear.

“I like you, Carlie. Will you go out with me?”

“Well, sure!” I said, much to Niall’s relief. I giggled at the look on his face.

“Brilliant! How about Nando’s on Friday night?”

“What’s Nando’s?”

“It’s a sit-down chicken place. It’s really good. I’ll pick you up at seven.”

“Okay!”

I walked into the house with a smile on my face. I couldn’t believe it was only my second day and Niall already asked me out!

“What’s with the grin, Carlie?” Mom asked. “Did Niall ask you out?”

“No, of course not! He has a girlfriend,” I lied.

“You know, I was like that when I first met your father. I denied that he liked me at first, but then the truth came out. Now, does Niall really have a girlfriend?”

I sighed. “No, he broke up with her yesterday. He asked me to go to a place called Nando’s with him on Friday night.”

“Oh, what’s that?”

“It’s a chicken place.”

“That’s nice. I hope you have fun!”

“Thanks.”
