Don't Let Me Go ~ N.H.
Chapter 3
After class, Niall was taking me to our next class when Niall stopped in his tracks. “Hold on, Carlie. I need to take care of something,” he said.
“Okay,” I said.
He marched over to Holly, who was kissing another guy. I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but he sounded angry. A minute later, he returned. “I’m single now,” he said.
I smiled and mentally squealed.
“So, now that Holly and I are over, wanna hang out after school?”
“Sure! We can walk my dogs together.”
“Oh, you have dogs? What kind?”
“A Lab/beagle mix named Lorna and a golden/Lab mix named Buddy.”
“Cool!”

The rest of the day seemed to fly by. Irish Gaelic was surprisingly easy, and so were the other classes. Well, except geography, but Niall offered to tutor me in that.
After school, Niall drove me home. We got turned around a few times, because I’m bad at directions, but we finally got there.
When I opened the door, both dogs greeted me by jumping up on me. I petted them on the backs and asked, “Do y’all wanna go for a walk?”
Lorna and Buddy wagged their tails, and Buddy barked. I attached their leashes to their collars and gave Buddy to Niall.
“So, which one’s the alpha dog?” Niall asked as we walked down the street.
“Buddy. He’s bigger than Lorna, obviously, and I got him first.”
“When did you get him?”
“I got him in 2007, and I got Lorna in 2008.”
“That’s awesome. I used to have a dog, but he ran away and got killed.”
“Aw, I’m sorry to hear that.”
“That’s okay. It happened when I was a little lad, so I’m over it.” Niall laughed an adorable laugh.
After the walk, we came home, and I invited him inside to study.
“So, you need help with geography, yeah?” Niall asked.
“Yeah,” I said.
“Do you know anything about Ireland?”
Right now, we’re learning Irish geography.
“Umm…I know y’all are famous for your potatoes.” I giggled.
“That’s not geographical, but okay!”
We opened our geography books to the chapter we were to work on and started our homework. I spent most of the time mesmerized in Niall’s accent, so I had a hard time concentrating. We ended up spending two whole hours on geography before we finally moved on to math. But before we could start, there was a knock at the door.
“Come in!” I called.
Mom opened the door and came in. She smiled when she saw Niall.
“Hello, Carlie. Who’s this?” she asked.
“This is Niall,” I said. “I met him at school today.”
“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Niall. I’m Roseanna Jennings.”
“Pleasure’s all mine, Mrs. Jennings,” Niall said, shaking Mom’s hand. “I can see where Carlie gets her good looks from.”
I blushed and giggled.
thanks, Cathy! There will be a sequel, too!
