Tea. (On Hold)

One

I heard screaming from behind the curtain. I couldn't believe that they were all here for me. For what I went through. The screams turned into chants. The people chanted my name as I hid. I was anxious, yes. But I was also disappointed. The end had to come to this. Where I gained and lost.

Finally, the blue curtains opened and a speaker spoke over the loud voices. "Now introducing the award winning author of her latest book, Enda Reyes". Men and women cheered for me as I walked to the podium. Lights shined on me, making the sweat on my forehead slightly trickle down the side of my face. I stood up onto the stool, ready to speak. The audience lowered and the room was silent.

I cleared my voice and leaned to the microphone. "Hello everyone. Thank you so much for coming. Before I start, I just want to say that through the past months I have gotten so much support. I don't think I could've won this award without every single one of you" The crowd clapped for me.

I started again, "In the beginning, it was just my everyday diary. I had wrote in it since I was seventeen. Now, to know that I would become so famous from it maybe three years ago, I would've made it more exciting" I lightly laughed at myself. I guess the rest thought it was funny too, as they laughed as well. "Some people don't have the opportunity to share what I have shared with the world. It's almost like I was the one who was supposed to change everything. I guess I was the one who would change the perspective on fate".

My eyes teared up. I couldn't believe this was happening I was here, alone. I looked out to the crowd as so many emotions ran through me. Grief, anger, happiness. All of it hit me like a train full of dynamite. The people who came to hear me speak were now confused. I didn't know why I was wasn't talking. Sudden memories washed through me as well. Memories of that morning...

I was awaken by my alarm. Six. My blurry eyes could barely read the clock. I fell back down onto my pillow. It was too early. I closed my eyes and grazed my hand around the nightstand for my glasses. I grabbed them and gently placed them on my face. Still closing my eyes, I shred the warm covers off my body. It was cold and dark in my flat. I could hear the rain drizzling down on London's busy streets.

I stood up up from my bed and felt chills run down my legs. All I wanted was a hot shower. Slided across the wood floors to my bathroom. I swiped my finger across the sensor and the lights flickered on, making me squint. I walked over the shower and turned it on. I took my sleep shorts off along with my tee-shirt. After a minute or so, I got into the shower. Instantly, I felt ice water hit my face.

I ran out and turned off the water. I forgot to pay the bill! I dried my face and put on my outfit. It was a dark red knit sweater with shoulder sleeves and black boyfriend jeans with my white vans. I wasn't dressing up much for my first day. I put my hair in a ponytail, since I hadn't washed it in three days. As I went into my kitchen, I heard a knock on my door. Instead of grabbing my banana, I rushed to see who it was. No one was there so I opened the door. On the ground was a package from UniBooks.org. This term's books came! I took them in and grabbed my purse, locking my flat.

I ran to catch up with the elevator going down. A young girl held the door as I stepped in. It was only her and another college student. The elevator came to the lobby and I rushed out, leaving the two surprised. As I stepped outside, the cold air bit my hands. I forgot my coat as well?! There was no turning back, so I walked along the awnings of shops and buildings. I saw a coffe shop and hurried to it. I opened the doors and was greeted by the smell of coffe and scones.

It was warm so I decided to order something. I waited in a line of early wakers. They'd probably been waiting to come here since five. Most people take a while to get ready. That's when I remembered something. I forgot to do my makeup! I left the line to the restroom. In there, I pulled out my makeup bag and applied concealer only under my eyes and covered my face in translucent powder. After putting mascara on, I left my eyebrows and went back to the line.

It was shorter than before, but new people had arrived. I stood behind a man with dark hair. He had rolled up jeans and no socks with his converse. What a hipster... I rolled my eyes just as he turned around, almost reading my mind. "Tired?" he asked. I looked at him confused then realized I had only been awake for half an hour. I replied with just a lousy "yeah". He nodded his head and turned back around to the the lady calling him up. He ordered and paid, but then whispered something to her and and handed her five pounds.

He walked away and slightly looked back at me. I went to the cashier. "A medium black tee please. Extra sugar." I started to take out money when the lady pushed my hand. "The young man in front of you has already paid." She smiled at me and pointed to him. He was looking at me with big eyes. I stuck the money back into my wallet and walked to the counter where my tea would be when it was done. I looked back at the man who bought my drink. He was looking over at me, sipping a hot beverage.

A man from the counter called my name and I was given my tea. I walked to the door when the brown hair man stopped me. "Edna. That's a lovely name. I'm Louis. Louis Tomlinson." He smiled big. He was quite cheeky. I nodded and he pulled me to a table for two. "I bought your tea by the way", he whispered and pointed to my cup. It was pretty obvious that he had. He whispered to me again, "Not even a thank you?" I was shy, that's all, and I didn't have any courage to say anything. He 'hmpfed' and leaned back in his chair. I watched as he opened the lid of his cup and took a sip. Steam rose as I noticed what was inside. Tea.
