Picture frames & Donuts

My eyes flickered open to the bright sun, that was peering through my opened window. I sat up from my sprawled out position, and gave a yawn and a healthy morning stretch.

Looking around till my eyes landed on the one thing I did not want to see first thing today, was a big red circle marked on my calendar, reminding me of the big day.

Graduation.

I gulped, "Drown me." I whispered through my hands that were spread across my face, dramatically.
I gave a smirk, knowingly what Matt would say about my attitude, he was always optimistic about events like this. He was always like that since the day I meant him, in my younger and unaware days, Harrison Middle School.

One reason he and I got along so well, opposites do attract. I stared at a picture frame of us both holding rocks from Wild Cat Creek, smiling. He was my best friend and the only, I mean I had some other friends but they just never were really my kind of people to hang out with on Friday night's, making fun of movies and commercials.
They were the type to, "Hey, Alison, wanna get drunk because you're depressed and you have no boyfriend?" and they came in handy some days when I couldn't focus on anything, because of an ex boyfriend breakup. But that's when Matt came in And would always do his little wave and flash his goofy grin and save me from doing anything reckless on those nights.

I moved my eyes from the picture and removed my thoughts, realizing I had to get ready and eat in all of ten minutes. I gave a groan before getting out of my messy bed and going into my small hole in the wall joined bathroom. Brushing my teeth as I put my hair up in a messy bun, I rinsed my mouth and started apply my normal everyday makeup routine to my face.
"You know what? Forget it! I'm just not going to have perfect matching cat eye's ." I angrily yelled as I sloppily drew on the eyeliner from corner to corner.

I jumped from the sound of, "See you Again" coming from my phone. I cringed from that overused song, knowing I should change it, but I never seemed to have the time to replace it.

"You up yet?" I heard Matt's voice through the speaker. "No, that's why I answered." I flatly said sarcastically.
I could hear him chuckle from the other side, "You know what else I love hearing in the morning other than the host of "Good Morning America" saying good morning at 7 in the morning?" I gave a laugh before answering, "My so, ever so happy sweet, innocent, caring voice?"
He gave another chuckle, "Exactly the opposite, but close Ali."

I smiled from his sarcastic reply before he started talking again. "But before I was rudely interrupted." he paused making me laugh, "I've been waiting outside of your house for about twenty minutes, as you were wasting about ten minutes staring into space." I gave a shocked look into my mirror before yelling, "How..?".

"You left your window open up once again, doof.. Come on, I thought you were Ali Muhammad and would know the dangers." he sarcastically once again used his nickname on me.

I walked out of my bathroom bringing my phone along as I went up to my window and peered out as I saw a grinning Matt holding up a bag of donuts. "I saw that smile, but know you only have two minutes to bring all your makeup and supplies for today, down to my car before these donuts start vanishing from injustice."

I gave him a look before closing my window, and shutting my phone, from a never ending chatting Matt, before grabbing all my supplies and shoving them into a duffel bag and trumping down my stairs and out the door. Walking up to a grinning Matt made me feel so much better, knowing my day could not be that bad.

As I shoved my duffel bag into the rear of his car, I went up to him, "These are mine, as you promised." before I snatched the bag filled with donuts. I walked around to the shotgun side and sat down before he got in and started laughing, "From a zero to a hundred...everyone needs me in their life."
I gave him a "yeah right look" before rolling my eyes, "no, they just need a little optimistic push from a bag of donuts, and woola..a better world."

He gave a fake hurt look, before bursting out. I took a chance as he settled down before asking, "So, why did you make me take my makeup, if I already did it?" He looked at me as his eyes looked straight at the upper of my eyes.
"Okay, okay. I know. Don't get to judgemental of a girl who woke up hating the world, before her life saver came." I shook my hands as if they would help my speech. He laughed as I started laughing before he started his car.
"You ready for the big day?" he asked.
"Ready for it to be over with at the same time, I don't ever want it to be over with..." I spoke as we sat in silence as he drove towards our school.

I looked up towards the sky and started daydreaming of childhood laughter, missing all of our pasts that we all dreadfully wanted to pass by fast.

Notes

Hopefully you guys will love this first chapter. It took some time and I'm still going over it and re-reading it, and editing it. If you personally see anything like grammar, spelling, and something odd, please don't feel shy, tell me. Thank you for everything!

this is perfect; the only thing i can suggest is going back to edit the chapter so that there are spaces between paragraphs cos it makes it a little hard to read everything :)

@Jules Tomlinson
Thank you :]
