Your Touch

Chapter 5

Chapter 5 (Hannah’s P.O.V.)

“You met who?!” Tracey practically screamed. I winced a little at the volume of her voice as I lean on the door frame to my room.

“She met who?!” she turned to Sabrina, who was sitting in my office chair.

“She met Liam Payne.” I could tell she was trying to contain her excitement. She hadn’t gotten all of it out yet, even though I wasn’t sure how she had any left after that screaming fit she had earlier.

“You met the Liam Payne?!” It looked as if Tracey’s eyes could fall out at any minute.

“Yes.” I replied. I watched as she tried to contain her excitement.

“Oh my god!” Tracey screamed as she lunged to her feet. I was afraid of what she was going to do. In a matter of seconds, I was engulfed in a bone-crushing hug as Tracey continued to scream.

“Hush!” I said loudly once I was free.

“How can I?!” She practically screamed again.

“Well you need to before my neighbors think something is going on in here and call the cops.”

“She has a point.” Sabrina said, “It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve call the cops for no reason.”

I nodded my head. Sabrina had been over the time the little old lady that lives below me call the police because the guy next door to me wouldn’t turn his music down. The shocker was when the cop took the guy away in handcuffs. I later found out that the guy was a drug dealer and didn’t feel so bad for him anymore. But it wasn’t too surprising, I mean this is LA.

“But you met the Liam Payne.” Tracey argued in a reasonable volume, “The same Liam that we have fantasized meeting along with the rest of the boys from One Direction. This is unbelievable.” She plopped back on to my bed, falling on her back with her arms spread out.

“Yeah, you think?” I replied sarcastically.

“No. It’s just the average day in the city of angels.” Sabrina added as she spun my chair around a few times.

“Oh, speaking of which,” Trace started as she sat up again. “You guys wouldn’t guess who came into the shop today.”

“A movie star.”

“No, Hannah.” She rolled her eyes, “I thought it would be Santa Claus.”

Sabrina was taking this seriously though. She always tried to figure out which celebrity that Tracey had seen at work each day. I mean, she is a waitress at a pretty popular spot in these parts. She sees a lot of the people that live in the spotlight.

“Johnny Depp.”

“Oh, I wish.” Tracey sighed. I rolled my eyes. Tracey had a bit of a Pirates of the Caribbean obsession. It would have made her week if she had seen Johnny Depp.

“Hugh Jackman?”

Tracey shook her head no, but Sabrina just kept on guessing.

“Anne Hathaway?”

“Nope,” she said, “keep trying.”

I decided to join in, “Logan Lerman.”

Tracey looked at me. “How did you know?”

I just shrugged my shoulders. “Lucky guess?”

“That is so not fair.” Sabrina pouted, “You always guess who it is.”

“Sorry squirt.” I said as I walked over and ruffled her hair. She tried to swat me away as she tried to fix her hair.

“Don’t call me that.”

“Why?” I joked, “You are the youngest.”

“That doesn’t mean that I’m a squirt.” she huffed at me. Tracey was trying to contain her laughter now. This caused me to laugh. I could tell that Sabrina was having trouble watching the two of us. Our expressions must be golden. Then all three of us lost it. We just laughed. I wasn’t long before Tracey was lying on my bed, holding her side as she laughed, while Sabrina was trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill from her eyes. I was on the floor, holding my aching side as I tried to catch my breath.

“Oh my side.” Tracey groaned.

My room was silence except for sounds of us trying to catch our breath.

“Well, now that we have that over with, what shall we do tonight?” Sabrina asked.

Tracey shot up in the bed, “Movie night!” she practically squealed with her arm in the air. She was such a dork.

“I can agree to that.” I said as I stood and went over to my movies. “So what shall it be tonight?”

“I want to watch something romantic.” Sabrina said as she spun my chair gracefully. I just loved how dramatic she was sometimes.

“I want something with action though.” Tracey said as she stroked her chin so she would appear to be in deep thought.

“How about we watch something that is both.” I suggested.

Tracey snapped her fingers and pointed at me, “You know that is a marvelous idea. We should do that.”

I rolled my eyes at her again. We were all a couple of nuts. I continued to look through my movies. Finally, I found something that I thought would fit the bill for the night.

“How about Van Helsing?” I asked as I held up the DVD case.

“Yes!” Sabrina exclaimed as she stopped spinning and pointed to the movie.

“I can second that decision.” Tracey added.

“So by unanimous decision, Van Helsing it is.” I said as I headed for the TV.

“Yay!” Sabrina said as she happily skipped to the couch behind me.

“I got popcorn!” Tracey said excitedly as she darted for my kitchen.

I turned the TV on. “Don’t you dare make a mess out of my kitchen!” I called after her.

“It’s just popcorn. How much of a mess could I make?”

“With you, I don’t want to know.” I mumbled to myself as I finished setting up the movie.

That was when my phone began to go off. I sighed. It was probably Jake again, trying to get me to take him back. He just couldn’t understand my reasons for ending it. I felt bad for ending it, but I just felt as if he wasn’t the one. I sighed as I pulled my phone out of my pocket.

“If that’s Jake, I want a piece.” Tracey said. She didn’t agree with all of my decisions, but she knew that Jake needed to drop it and move on.

I looked down at the phone, but my screen didn’t say Jake. It said Incoming Call: Liam. I felt my heart skip a beat. Why was he calling me? Then I panicked. Why did I feel this way? He was a famous singer and I was just a theatre actress. There was no hope in him even remotely liking me, so why did I feel so warm when I saw it was him calling?

‘No, Hannah.’ I told myself. ‘You can’t get your hopes up.’

I stared at the screen as my phone continued to ring. Finally, it stopped and my screen changed to tell me that I had one new missed call.

“Was it not Jake?” Tracey asked.

“No,” I said, “I decided to let it go to voicemail and I would deal with it later. But now it’s movie time.” I dramatically pressed the play button as I moved to sit with them on the couch. The two of them cheered as the movie came on. I tried to watch, but I couldn’t. All I could think about was Liam. Why was he calling me? And why did I not answer?
