Chapter 40

Chapter 40 (Alice’s P.O.V.)

I really didn’t want to go home. I loved it here. I had always dreamed of coming to California and my closest friends were here. I just hated the idea of leaving them again and not knowing when we would be able to see each other again. But Hannah and Sabrina were starting their careers and wouldn’t have a lot of spare time anyway.

“I don’t want you to leave.” Hannah pouted. I knew she was being dramatic, but I also knew that she meant it too.

“Me either.” I sighed as I plopped down her couch between her and Tracey. My things were all packed and set by the door. We were going to have to head to the airport soon. The sad part was that Sabrina wasn’t here yet. I was hoping to spend the little more time with her too. I mean she did just leave home because she was two grades younger that the rest of us, and I had seen her not that long. The thing was, I didn’t know when I would be able to see them again.

“This stinks.” Tracey complained as she leaned her head on my shoulder. I leaned mine on top of hers.

“Yeah.”

The feeling in the room was interrupted by a rapid knocking on the front door.

“I got it.” Hannah said as she stood and walked over to the door.

She opened the front door to a smiling Sabrina. She hugged Hannah before practically dancing into the room. No, she was dancing. I didn’t know what had gotten her in such a good mood, but was going to find out.

“What’s up with you?” Tracey asked, as if she had read my mind. Hannah had closed the door, but was watching Sabrina from there. After a few moments, she stopped dancing and just sat on the floor. She sighed as she laid down on her back. She seemed to be in somewhat of a daze as she bit her lower lip.

“Bri?” I asked.

She looked over at me and nearly squealed. We all looked at each other before we looked back to her. She was wearing the biggest grin on her face. Hannah walked over and knelt down beside her.

“Sabrina,” she started,” What is up with you?”

“He asked me out!” she exclaimed loudly causing Hannah to flinch.

Hannah quickly recovered and looked at Sabrina again, “Who asked you out?”

“Zayn!”

We all looked around in disbelief. Okay, now I understand why is totally flipping out. The three of us knew that Sabrina has had a celebrity crush on Zayn since before we actually met the boys. We all hoped they would get along, and they seemed to. However, we never expected for him to ask her out today.

“So?” Tracey asked as she leaned toward Sabrina. Sabrina raised an eyebrow at Tracey to signify that she wasn’t sure what she was asking.

“So what did you say?”

“Yes!” she practically squealed.

The room was then filled with congratulations and conversation. Sabrina sat in the middle of Hannah’s living room and told us the story of this morning. Tracey even filled in the bits about Louis and Eleanor’s fight. Louis had told her about it this morning. He even told Tracey that Eleanor was the one who trashed her apartment.

“Oh guys,” Hannah said as she looked up at the wall, “We need to get going.”

I looked up at the clock. I needed to be at the airport in the next forty minutes and we had to fight traffic. We all got up and grabbed my stuff. We continued our conversation all the way to the airport. I didn’t want it to end.

“Well, this is it.” I sighed as I turned back to them.

Sabrina moved forward and gave me a hug, “See you. Tell Lindsay I said hi.”

“Will do.” Lindsay was my little sister and she was in the same grade as Sabrina. They had been pretty good friends.

“See you around.” Tracey said as she hugged me.

“See you too.” I hugged her back before moving onto my last friend.

“Be careful.” She whispered into my ear.

“I will be.” I whispered back before we broke apart.

“And the guys said their sorry they couldn’t make it. They had an interview.” She smiled a little at me.

“It’s okay,” I replied. “Just tell them bye for me, okay?”

“I will.” Hannah nodded.

“Flight 3884 for Cincinnati. Ohio is now boarding.” I sighed at the announcement.

“That’s me.” I said as I picked up my luggage and turned to leave. I heard a chorus of goodbyes from my friends. I turned around and waved at them one last time before I turned to head home.
