Exhaustion
Rachel's P.O.V.
"So how long do you think he's gonna be?" Breanna asked softly, her head resting on my shoulder.
We were sitting on the chairs in the airport after our flight from Sydney to New York. My friends and I had just graduated high school and had always dreamed of going to New York. Seeing as we had the summer before university, we decided to bite the bullet and just go.
My brother Ashton was living there so he had helped us out with getting an apartment, which was in the same building as his. We had both saved up enough money to sort ourselves out but we'd have to get jobs there to pay for rent and food.
The rent however wasn't too expensive Ashton had told me. His friend, Calum was living with him. Though I had never met him, Ashton had told me a lot about him - along with two of his other friends Luke and Michael. They also lived in the same apartment building. I was excited to meet them all.
The flight had been over 20 hours and we were all exhausted. Ashton was picking us up from the airport and bringing us back to the apartment building as none of us would have any idea of where we were going.
"He should he be here soon" I mumbled back softly, my eyes half closed. It was only 5pm here but because of the long plane ride and the time difference, we were all ready to go sleep. However we knew we had to stay up, we would have to get used to the time difference, something that was sure to take a few days.
"Rach I'm literally gonna die" Julia moaned, lying across two seats.
"I'm gonna go get a smoothie, you guys want anything?" I offered, motioning to the smoothie bar not far from where we were seated.
Breanna ignored me while Julia just groaned in response, which I took as a no.
"Suit yourselves" I shrugged, standing up slowly, whining a little when I did, my head spinning slightly.
I headed over to the smoothie bar, ordering myself a Berry blitz. Smoothie tended to wake me up a little so hopefully I would gain a little energy so I wasn't completely dead when meeting Ashton's friends.
Ashton text me saying he was here and wondering where we were. I told we'd start walking towards the exit and to meet him there. Once I had my smoothie the three of us headed off towards the exit, grumbling as we did, dragging our large suitcases behind us.
We were just about at the exit when I saw the familiar dimpled smile I had been missing so much for the last two years since Ashton had left. Though he visited every now and again and we chatted on the phone and skyped, it wasn't the same. I had missed him a lot more than I expected and so as soon as I saw him I let go of my bag and half jumped into his arms, flinging my arms around his neck.
His arms wrapped around me while he chuckled.
"Good to see you too Rach"
