Bonus Chapter

CLAIRE’S POV

The security guard walked me slowly down the hall. It was hard to ignore all the screaming women who were trying to grab me through the bars of their cells. I kept a straight face, and continued to walk.

“Wait here.” The guard said and walked away.

I was standing in front of a door that was made of metal. It could only be opened from the guard tower with a special code, so Louis said.

I waited for the loud buzz, and the door to open. Once it opened, I walked inside and saw her curled up in the corner. Her head was down, and she was hugging her knees like a child.

When she heard my footsteps, she looked up and we both froze. It’s been almost six years since I last saw her. She looked completely different, yet still the same.

You.” She said with such venom in her voice.

I didn’t say anything back, I just grabbed the chair that was next to her cell and sat in it. She stood up and sat on the plastic chair in her cell, so now we were only a few inches apart. Nothing but bars separating us.

“Did you come here to mock me? Or to check up on me?” She asked.

I shook my head, “Neither, actually.”

“Then why are you here!” She screamed, frustrated.

Her voice was hoarse and she looked only ten seconds away from a mental breakdown. I guess life in prison will really do that to a person.

“Harry.” Is all I said.

Lyn looked confused, but interested, “Harry is dead.” Lyn said, but she was still unsure.

“Louis killed him,” I said, “He shot him in the head.”

Lyn shook her head, “So why the hell are you here asking about Harry?”

Lyn was different. Her hair was knotted up in a ponytail that she’s probably worn for months. Her eyes were dark, and she had dark circles under them. Her skin was almost white, it was so pale and looked fragile.

I sighed, “Louis was so sure he had killed Harry. He shot him right between the eyes, and he fell and Louis was convinced he was dead.”

Lyn smirked and stood up, gripping the bars of her cell. She shook her head, “He’s not dead?”

“He’s not dead.” I repeated.

“How do you know?”

“Because Harry called me yesterday. He called me and said he was coming for me. I have a kid, Lyn, a son. I love him dearly, and I can’t let Harry get anywhere near him.”

Lyn laughed, “The bastard just won’t die, will he?”

“Guess not. But Harry had a message for you, too.”

“I still don’t know why you’re here telling me all of this. Aren’t you risking it by being here? Everyone thinks you’re dead.” She said, trying to act tough.

“Harry said that he’s coming for you, too.” I said, “That was a long time ago. Legally, I’m not Claire. That’s besides the point.” I added.

“Then what is the point?” She questioned and sat back down in her chair.

I looked at her with a cold expression, “Have you had any contact with Harry?”

“No.”

“You’re lying.”

“I’m not.”

“I don’t believe you. You’ve lied countless times before-“

“Look, I know this is a little hard to believe, but I wouldn’t want to talk to Harry. He killed my baby, and that still hurts.”

I stayed silent for a minute. I was trying to read her movements and facial expressions to see if there was the slightest possibility that she could be lying. Either she was telling the truth, or she got really good at hiding it.

I stood up, “Fine. I guess I’ll just get going.”

“Leaving so soon?” She asked, “Let’s catch up while you’re here. How’s Louis?”

“Louis is fine.” I lied.

Lyn tisked, “You’re lying to me.”

“I don’t have to tell you the truth.”

“You might as well. What do I have to lose?” She countered.

I didn’t sit back down, but I stayed, “Louis is sick.” I said honestly, “We don’t know what it is. It’s a new virus, and it’s killing him.” I did my best to keep a straight face.

Lyn’s face softened a little bit, but barley. “That must be tough on you both.”

“It’s not too bad,” I lied again, “He’s strong. He’ll get through it.”

“Will he?” Lyn smirked, playing her mind games again.

I grabbed my bad and scoffed, “I’m leaving now. Goodbye, Lyn.”

“Goodbye. Oh! And tell Harry hi for me, will you?” She was doing her best not to act scared.

I so badly wanted to turn and slap that smirk right off of her face. I just took a deep breath and walked to the metal door, and waited for it to buzz, then left.

I walked out of the prison, and grabbed my phone and called Louis. He picked up, “Did she believe you?” Louis asked.

I smiled as I got in the car, “Every word.”
