CLAIRE'S POV

We managed to find a nice place to set up a little camp sight. It was more then nice, it was gorgeous considering the circumstances. We were all right next to a small lake that was probably the size of three large swimming pools.

The moon reflected off the water, making it look like a mirror for the sky. Lyn was already passed out on a nice patch of grass, Liam was half asleep but he was fighting sleep. He was too afraid that something would happen to Lyn.

I offered to have first watch for the night, so here I am, sitting on a rock just staring at the moon's reflection. I was assuming that Louis was also asleep, because he was laying on another patch of grass, and he hasn't spoke a word.

If I would take a guess, it was probably around midnight. My watch ended at two in the morning, I don't know for sure when Louis started his watch.

My eyes were already growing heavy from lack of sleep from the past few days. I decided that for everyone's sake, I would skip rocks to keep myself awake and busy. I hopped off the rock, and walked over to the lake's shore where thousands of rocks were laid.

I kneeled down and picked out many flat rocks, then I began to skip them. If I was lucky, the rocks would skip three times instead of two. Instant memories of doing this with my older brother came in mind. He's married now and has a son, so I was an aunt. Although I've only met my nephew, Marty, once.

Once all of my skipping rocks ran out, I walked back to the rock I was sitting on earlier and sat down. Louis had given me a hunting knife for self defense, it was heavier then I expected it to be.

I grabbed a random stick that was sitting next to me, and I just began chipping away at it with the knife. Anything to keep me awake would help me, because if I fall asleep then anyone who gets hurt is on me.

The sound of a twig snapping a few yards from me startled me. I looked behind me and saw the other three fast asleep, so it wasn't any of them. I held the knife tightly in my right hand.

I didn't move, I wasn't going to walk toward the sound because that would just be stupid. I stood up on the rock so I wouldn't be too much of an easy target.

"This would've have been a good reason to teach me how to shoot, Louis." I mumbled to myself.

I squinted my eyes to see if I could get a better look at whatever was moving in the trees. Another twig snapped, but it was closer. I held the knife tighter even though my palms were sweaty, any second now.

A dark figure jumped out of the trees, and a sigh escaped my mouth. It was just a deer, stupid deer scaring me like that. I eased but then realized that we need food, and this was the perfect moment.

I've never hunted before, so their wasn't a big chance I would actually harm the deer. I held the handle of the knife and crouched down on the rock, and quietly made my way down.

The deer was about twenty feet away from me, luckily I had a rock to hide me. So far, it doesn't seem to notice me, which I guess is a good thing. Even if I did kill this thing, I have no idea how to gut it or cook it right.

I walked quietly closer to it, but of course there was some drift wood that broke under my foot. The deer looked up in my direction, but I held my breath and hid behind the rock again. I waited about two minutes before peeking over the rock again, it was eating some grass.

I had no idea how to aim and throw a knife, so I just held the handle, and threw it toward the deer. I shut my eyes until I heard an eerie gushing sound. I opened my eyes and saw that I had hit the deer in it's chest.

It fell with a small thud, and was breathing heavily, I must have punctured the lungs. I ran over to the deer and removed the knife, I had to put the poor thing out its misery. I shut my eyes as I stabbed the deer in the head, I didn't want to kill it but we have to eat.

The deer was no longer breathing, I gave myself a mental high five for hunting my first animal. I walked down to the lake and washed off the knife, then I stuck it into my knife holder and looked at the deer.

"That was impressive." Louis said.

I looked up and saw him walking over toward the deer. "You saw that? I thought you were asleep."

"I was until I heard twigs snapping," He smiled, "I learned to become a light sleeper."

"Yeah well, I guess we have breakfast." I shrugged and wiped my hands on my already dirty jeans.

"Have you ever hunted before?" Louis asked while grabbing the deer and throwing it over his shoulder.

I shook my head, "Nope."

He glanced at me before scoffing, "You're a natural then."

A natural at what? Killing? I didn't say that out loud, I just smiled in response. It wasn't a big deal, it was just an animal.

Louis had the next watch, he was sitting on the same rock that I was on earlier. I couldn't find myself to fall asleep though, my mind decided to be awake right now. I haven't slept in almost three days, you would expect me to be tired.

I stood up and walked over to the rock and climbed up, then sat next to Louis. He glanced at me, and then looked straight ahead at the lake. The only sounds that could be heard were the leaves on the trees and the small waves in the lake.

"I'm tired." He said.

I leaned back on my hands, "Yeah me too. But I can't sleep."

Louis for some reason, smirked. "I have an idea."

"Uh oh." I joked, "What?"

He didn't say anything, he just stood up and jumped off the rock. As he was running, he managed to take off his shirt and pants, so he was only his boxers. Before I could ask what the hell he was doing, he dived into the lake.

"Oh hell no." I muttered and jumped off the rock.

The water was probably freezing cold, and swimming in the dark with no light but the moon doesn't sound too fun for me. Louis resurfaced and smiled, "Aren't you going to join me?"

"No, I'll just make sure you don't drown." I said and sat down on the rocks.

Louis crossed his arms, "I won't take no for answer."

"I'll give you no as a response." I simply replied.

Louis was silent for a second before running out of the water and picking me up, "NO NO LOUIS PUT ME DOWN!" I screeched.

Before I could scream at him anymore, he jumped in and I was surrounded by water. My body froze for a second, but after a few seconds, I got used to the water.

I resurfaced to a laughing Louis. "I won." He managed to say.

I splashed him and groaned, "I'm still wearing my clothes."

"You can take them off, I won't mind." He smirked, "Please I'll wait."

"On second thought, I'll keep them on."

"Wait did you see that?" Louis pointed out to the deep end of the lake, "It's over there."

I followed his gaze but didn't see anything. "I don't see anything."

"It's right there c'mon!" He was still pointing, but I saw nothing.

"Maybe you're crazy? Because there is nothing there." I shrugged and made my way toward the shore, but Louis stopped me.

"Wait, where are you going there's-" He stopped when he suddenly went under the water.

"Louis?" I said before searching through the water.

There weren't any air bubbles or anything, if this was some kind of joke then it wasn't funny. Ten seconds passed and nothing, I began freaking out a little. What if he wasn't kidding about whatever he saw, what if it was a person?

"Louis!" I called.

Something grabbed my feet and pulled me under, then released. I knew it was Louis, but that didn't mean that I wasn't mad at him. He fucking scared me, I hate getting scared.

"You totally got scared!" He said once I was above the water.

I glared at him before making my way to the shore, ignoring his calls. He caught up to me once my feet were just barley covered by water.

"Oh come on, you're not mad? It was a joke." He still had a little laughter to let out, but he didn't laugh because he knew it would make things worse.

I didn't want to be that person who got too annoying at jokes, so I just shrugged. "Scared me a little."

"That was my goal," He touched m my arm and looked taken back, "Claire you're freezing."

"I know." I said in a blunt tone.

"C'mon I'll make a fire." He grabbed his clothes and slipped his shirt on, and we walked back up to where Lyn and Liam were sleeping.

Currently, Louis and I were sitting by the fire wrapped up in a blanket because we were both freezing. He and I changed behind separate trees, but of course he and I are still cold. So here we are, it's almost 4 in the morning, and it's supposed to be Liam's turn to keep watch. We just didn't see the point in waking him up because we're wide awake.

The crackling fire made the silence between us less awkward. I was thankful for sharing a blanket, the body heat gave us extra heat.

"Louis, what day is it?" I asked, feeling lost since I had no idea what month it was.

"It's Tuesday, February 9th." He said, "Why?"

"Just asking." I lied, in fact today was my birthday. But I was never a major birthday person.

I should've known that lying was no good, because Louis knows when I lie. "Liar." See.

"It's just, today, is uh-"

"Is it your birthday?" He asked.

I nodded, "It's no big deal, I was never a huge birthday person."

"Neither was I." He smiled, "Can I give you a birthday present?"

"Uh, sure."

He hesitated, but he put on hand on my right cheek, and leaned in. He connected our lips, the heat from both of us made this kiss more heated.

The kiss started off slow, but it soon got more heated and passionate. He wrapped his arms around me, causing the blanket to fall off behind us. Now we depended on eachother for warmth, which I'm sure we both felt at this moment.

Louis had us lean back so now we were laying down. Louis flipped us over so he was hovering over me, I didn't mind though. His hand made its way up my shirt, his warm hand on my cold skin.

"You're beautiful." He mumbled.

In response, I bit his bottom lip, something I did to turn on guys. Louis held both my arms down, a huge satisfied smirk on his lips. His lips soon found their way to my neck, then to my collarbone.

He began to suck, he was going to leave me a love bite. I ran my hands through his damp hair while staring at the bright moon that was shining over us, it was going to set in at least half an hour.

Louis and I were using the darkness to our advantage.

Before we could continue though, Liam woke up. "Shit, don't I have this watch?" He asked.

Louis huffed, "Thanks, mate." He sarcastically said.

Liam laughed, "My bad." He stood up and walked over toward the lake with his gun, leaving Louis and I.

We looked at eachother, but we were both exhausted. "You need to sleep." Louis said.

I nodded and smoothed out the blanket next to the fire so I could stay warm, "You do too." Louis and I laid on the blanket, I laid on my back so I could stare at the moon while it was here.

"Claire?"

"Hmm?"

"Happy Birthday."
