Chapter 1
My name is Katelynn Ayers, and I have a wonderful boyfriend named Gerard Frazer. I also have a guy friend, Louis Tomlinson. Louis and I have been friends since he transferred here due to him and his family moving in with his new stepdad. Gerard was jealous at first, but he calmed down once he understood Louis was just a friend.
One morning, Gerard was unusually late picking me up for school. He usually arrives at 6:15 to take me to McDonald’s before school, and it was now 6:45.
“Katelynn, it’s getting late. You better go,” Mom said when she saw me still sitting on the couch with my stuff.
“But Gerard said he’d be here!” I protested.
“Do you wanna get in trouble?”
I sighed. “No…I guess you have a point there.”
I gathered my things and followed Mom to her car.

Mom pulled up to the high school just before seven, and she wished me a good day as I got out. When I walked into the building, I could already tell this wasn’t gonna be a good day at all. Gerard was making out with Camille Marshall, the head cheerleader. I stood still for a minute, watching Gerard’s and Camille’s mouths move, and then burst into tears and ran into the ladies’ room.

Louis’ POV
I was about to greet Katelynn when she suddenly burst into tears and ran off. I looked around to see what would set her off and noticed Gerard kissing Camille Marshall. I hated seeing my best friend cry, so I marched right up to Gerard and pried him off of Camille.
“What the bloody hell was that for?!” Gerard demanded.
“You’re cheating on your girlfriend, and from what I saw, you broke her heart!” I said. “Remember what I said I’d do if you ever broke her heart?”
Gerard looked at me wide-eyed for a second before running away. I chased him down the hall and caught up with him by the elevators. I started the fight by picking Gerard up by the shirt collar and throwing him across the hall. He then charged at me like a bull, and we went at each other like two angry cats. Soon, we attracted a crowd of students, and they started chanting, “FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!”

Katelynn’s POV
I was calming myself down in the bathroom when I heard what sounded like a fight in the hallway. I splashed my face one last time, wiped it dry, and left the bathroom to find Gerard and Louis having a go at each other. I watched as Louis spun Gerard around his head and threw him down just as the principal, Mr. Williams, arrived at the scene.
“What’s going on here?” Mr. Williams asked, breaking up the fight.
“Gerard Frazer was cheating on his girlfriend, so I beat him up,” Louis explained.
“So I see. Mr. Tomlinson, I’m giving you a detention for Friday.”
“No, it’s okay! Louis was doing me a favor!” I defended.
“Rules are rules, Miss Ayers. You know fighting constitutes a detention,” Mr. Williams said. “Another word, and you’ll be joining him. Have I made myself clear?”
I sighed. “Yes, Mr. Williams.”
