Summer Love ~ L.P.
Chapter 15
Liam’s POV
I got to Wetumpka at about five thirty. My flight had been delayed because of a blizzard in London. I took a cab to Jessalyn’s house, but on the way there, I saw a dog in the road. It was a mini-Labradoodle, and it looked like it was limping.
“Stop the car, mate!” I said to the cab driver. “There’s a dog in the road!”
The driver noticed the dog, too, and pulled over to let me out. I picked up the dog, which didn’t have a collar on, and brought it back to the cab.
“Where to now, sir?” the driver asked.
“The nearest vet,” I said.

I didn’t have to wait long at the vet’s office. I’d called Jessalyn to tell her I’d be about an hour or so late, and she’d said that was fine.
Anyways, a few minutes after the dog was taken in, the vet tech came out to talk to me. “Mr. Payne?” she said.
“Yeah,” I said.
“The dog is a stray, and we’ll have to amputate her front left leg.”
“Aww…will she be alright?”
“Yes, she’s just fine otherwise. She’ll have to stay here overnight, though.”
“Can I take her home tomorrow?”
“If she passes the behavioral assessment, you can pick her up on Christmas.”
“Brilliant! This is actually a gift for my girlfriend.”
“Oh, well, that’s sweet! Do you have your girlfriend’s address so we can microchip the dog for you?”
I gave the vet tech Jessalyn’s address.

Jessalyn’s POV
Liam finally arrived at about six thirty. I was quick to answer the door.
“Liam! Come on in!” I said, hugging him. I led him into the kitchen, where Mom was fixing dinner. “Mom, this is Liam!”
Mom turned around to greet Liam. “Nice to meet you, Liam. I’m Georgia Martin,” she said, shaking Liam’s hand.
“Said her name was Georgia Rose…OWW!” Liam quipped. “So, is your middle name Rose?”
Mom laughed. “No, it’s not.”
Grandma came into view. “I thought I heard your boyfriend come in, but then I heard a British accent,” she said.
I giggled. “This IS my boyfriend! His name is Liam, and yes, he is British. He’s from Wolverhampton!”
“Oh, where’s that?”
“It’s near Birmingham, England,” Liam said. “Jess, I got a surprise for you.”
“Ooh, goodie! What is it?!” I asked eagerly.
“You’ll find out Christmas morning. What are you cooking, Mrs. Martin?”
“I’m trying my hand at peri-peri chicken,” Mom said. “It’s almost done. I started about an hour and a half ago.”
“I can’t wait to taste it!”
“Me either,” I said.
Just then, Daddy came down from taking a shower. “Oh, this must be Leo,” he said.
“It’s Liam. Liam Payne,” Liam said, putting his hand out.
Daddy looked Liam up and down before shaking his hand. “Nice to meet you,” he said.
“Daddy, he’s fine. He’s NOTHING like Aaron; he’s the exact opposite, actually.”
“If you EVER abuse my little girl, you’re dead,” Daddy said.
“Yes, sir,” Liam said.
