The Paris Trip

Chapter 8

As we finally made our way out of the hotel without anyone noticing, there was a small car parked on the side of the road.
“Come,” He held my hand as he led me to the car. My mind was everywhere at the moment. I knew I could be in serious trouble if Ashley or Ms. Fleur found out. But, I couldn’t help but feel ecstatic because Liam decided to show me something. He quickly opened the door of the small car and I got in as he followed.
“Driver? Fontaine de la Concorde, s'il vous plait?” He said in his hot British accent. The driver nodded and started the engine. “It’s a 15 minute drive there and back. It’s beautiful, I promise all of this will be worth it.” He smiled his dazzling smile at me.
“Okay,” Was all that came out of my mouth; I couldn’t stop smiling and it was starting to hurt my face. All the way to the fountain we talked about the other tourist attractions and how beautiful they were. After a few minutes we reached the fountain and Liam escorted us out of the car.
“Here we are!” He said as he shut the car door behind us.
The fountain was absolutely beautiful. The jets of water climbed into the air and descended down with a magical sound. Everything was lit up and it just made it even more breathtaking. The gold accents on the statues underneath the fountain were glittering. I quickly took out my phone and took a picture http://www.naturepixel.com/fontaine_place_concorde_14.htm).
“Liam, this is magical…” I said as I continued to look at the fountain. I could tell he was looking at me in the corner of my eye.
“Yeah…” His gaze shifted to the lit up fountain. Suddenly, our hands found each other’s and our slowly intertwined as we both stared at the fountain. His familiar, warm palms were touching mine. I finally broke my gaze as I looked down at our hands near my waist. I smiled as I looked at back up at the fountain.
“Oh no,” He muttered.
“What happened?” I looked at him.
“Paps, they’ve been on our ass ever since we landed. We need to go now.” He led me back to the car. I glanced at the other side of fountain and saw a couple of men with cameras looking for someone. They still hadn’t seen us so we could still go without being spotted. We finally sat in the car when Liam took a deep breath. “Hotel, s’il vous plait?” He told the driver.
“Wait!” I made the driver jerk the car. I looked back at my phone and saw that it was 12:50. It didn’t feel that long, but we were at the fountain for 20 minutes. “How far away is the Seine from here?” I smiled at him.
“You want to go to the Seine? That’s close to 45 minutes if we drove fast enough.” He glanced at the driver who nodded to confirm.
“That’s not that bad. I should probably be back at around 3:30 or 4? We still have time. We’re suppose to wake up at 8:30 or 9 so I think that works.” I said.
Liam just nodded in response. “Driver, The Seine it is!” He grinned. We drove the first few minutes in conversation and after we rode in silence.
“We’ve still got half an hour to go. If you want to take a quick power nap, go ahead. Come here.” Liam scouted and positioned himself for me to lean on him.
“Sleep on you?” I asked doubtingly.
“Just come here.” He motioned me towards him. I can’t lie, it was pretty sexy but I pushed those thoughts out of my mind for the moment because I was pretty damn tired. It’s not like I’ve never slept on him before. The flight flashed in my mind. I ended up leaning my head on his chest as his left hand rubbed up and down mine. I snuggled against his soft sweater and dosed off for a few minutes.
I woke up to Liam whispering to me in his husky voice, “Hey, we’re here.”
I stirred as his hands brushed mine. “We’re here?” I asked groggily.
“Hmm…” He confirmed as he helped me up. He escorted us out the car once again. We stepped out on the side of the bridge. No one was there, believe it or not. The buildings were lit and the sound of the water flowing made me feel much more calm. The reflection of the lights on the water made it feel surreal as we made our way down the side of the large river. Then, in the distance I could see the light on top of the Eiffel Tower.
“It’s beautiful, Liam. It’s beautiful.” I said as I looked around us. I took out my phone again and took another picture (http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/France/North/Ile-de-France/Paris/photo400257.htm).
“Walking on the Seine is one thing everyone says they could do.” I smile.
“Especially when they’re with someone special…” He added shyly.
“True.” I responded as our bodies touched ever so slightly while walking down the river.
“Tell me something,” I said as we were almost halfway down and a slight breeze came through.
“Did you ever believe that the amount of time you spend with or know a person should be related with how much you love them?” I made my way over the barrier between the water and bridge. I let myself lean on the rails. Liam stood right next to me.
“Like whether knowing someone longer means you love them more than others that have known them for a shorter time?” He asks.
“Yeah, I suppose…” I respond as I looked over at the other side of the river.
“Actually, I feel like time is irrelevant. I know normal people would probably say, yes. You know someone long enough and you build an appreciation for who they are and you love them better than those you don’t know. That’s basically saying people can’t believe in love at first sight. I just find time irrelevant when it comes to love. Love is dysfunctional; time should be too. You don’t start loving someone just because you think it’s the appropriate time, you love them because… well, because you do. You can fall for someone in an instant, sometimes.” He looks over at me.
“I’ve known you for four years, Liam. I was in love with a man that didn’t know that I existed, till now at least. I just don’t want to think I love you more than you love me. Because, that’s the thing you probably don’t love me and it’s just not the same,” He looked up at me with a serious look on his face; it was almost a shocked face. I stopped rambling and realized what I had just said. “Oh my god. I’ve totally just embarrassed myself. I am so sorry. I’m going to go now. I can’t believe I just did that. I’m rambling I need to stop!” I urged myself to shut up. What did I do? I just told him that I loved him! It had occurred to me that it was our third date and I already had ruined it. Who the hell would let that just slip out like that? Liam’s face was still shocked as I turned around and was about to walk away in embarassment.
All of a sudden, I felt his large hand grab my arm, causing me to spin around to face him. Our noses brushed as our heads were against each other’s. His eyes, darker than their normal brown color, stared into my eyes then down at my lips. Gently, his hands tilted my head upwards towards him. He started to lean in slowly. My heart was pounding so hard that I was afraid that even Liam could hear it. Before I knew it, I closed my eyes and felt his smooth and warm lips fit into mine. His nose brushed the side of my cheek as his head tilted. My hand traveled up to his neck and gave me the ability to push into him slightly and pull him back to make our lips overlap again. His hands had traveled to my waist now and was I inching closer to him. Once more, our lips were tangled together as his soft and gentle touch lingered when I pulled away.
“I’m in love with you, too.” He laughed his cheeky laugh. I just smiled as he leaned in for another small kiss and led me back to the car.
