The Paris Trip

“Here, I got it.” He looked at me and smiled.

I honestly don’t know how I looked at that particular moment but I had a feeling my mouth was open; my jaw dropped as I saw his muscles bulging. I looked over at Leah who was just staring at me with the same reaction. She had even cupped her hands over her mouth in disbelief. “There you go.” He looked back towards me and smiled.
My focus snapped back towards him, realizing that he was done putting my backpack in the compartment. “Oh, yeah. Thank you so much!” I said quietly.
“Um, yeah no problem. My name is Liam. I guess I’m sitting next to you…” He offered his hand to me. One hand was scratching the back of his head as he extended his other muscular arm towards me.
“Um. Yeah, my name is Casey.” I slowly wrapped my hand around his, feeling the warmth of his fingers overlap mine. I blushed as I looked towards the ground waiting for him to pull back from the handshake. But he kept shaking my hand and looking at the empty seat to the right of where I was supposed to be sitting.
“Is that my seat?” He finally let go of my hand and pointed to the seat next to the window seat.
“Yeah, yeah…” I pulled my arm back from the handshake. I felt the warmth still on the tips of my fingers. I quickly took my seat. Liam put his luggage in the overhead compartment and sat down with me.
“Casey, is it? Very pretty name for a pretty girl…” He said as he avoided eye contact. I noticed him smile and blush.
“Thanks…” I mumbled. I was fangirling on the inside and I wasn’t sure how long I could hold myself together, not to mention he was going to be sitting next to me the next 14 hours. I found that the only way to contain my excitement was to not say anything. The moment I would open my mouth there was no going back. But I thought it would be rude if I didn’t give him a proper response. I decided to trust myself and loosen up. I was still shy so it only worked to an extent.
“Liam, as in Liam Payne from One Direction?” I questioned, though already knowing the answer.
“Um, yeah.” He smiled. “You a fan?”
“Actually as a matter of fact I am. A huge one!” I responded.
“So I assume you know Louis, Harry, Niall, and Zayn?” He pointed to the seats behind us. I turned around to face Louis and Niall, both of them were grinning. I quickly looked over at Leah who was staring at Niall. I chuckled and looked back behind Louis and Niall and saw Harry and Zayn. Harry smiled and winked while Zayn waved.
“I actually do.” I chuckled, pushing the hair out of my face as I turned back around. “So, don’t you guys have a private jet? Or shouldn’t you at least be in first class?” I asked.
“Well, the private jet was getting repaired and our manager accidentally got economy tickets instead of first class.” He answered.
“Oh! Well, I suppose I’m very lucky.” I giggled.
“You know, we’ve got to stay on this plane for quite awhile so we might as well get to know one another.” He turned to face me.
“Um. I suppose but I know everything about you. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING.” I crossed my arms and faced him.
“Prove it!” He chuckled.
“Well, you were born in Wolverhampton, England. You have a mom, dad, and two sisters. One named Ruth and the other, Nicola. You took up wrestling at a young age so you could defend yourself because you were bullied…” I paused and then continued, “You tried out for X-Factor when you were 14 but Simon thought you were too young and told you to come back when you were 16. When you were 16 you came back auditioning for a solo artist. You, sadly, got eliminated and then got put into a group with the rest of the boys. You guys became One Direction later on and became very successful. You had turtles and a dog, Loki. You saved your best friend, Andy Samuels, from a fire on your flat in London. You-“ I was interrupted by Liam who admitted that I knew a lot about him. So much for trying not to say too much yet giving a “proper response”.
“But you don’t know some of these personal things-” He started.
“Oh… I think I know the personal things…” I interrupted and chuckled.
“No, I mean stuff NO ONE knows about me.” He looked quite serious.
“Are you sure you want to tell me that? I mean you did just meet me…” I asked unsure.
“I can fix that. How about we talk about you and I over dinner? You tell me more about yourself and I tell you about me?” Liam looked into my eyes, his leg brushing mine.
I blushed and quickly responded, “Are you sure? I mean we will be 40,000 feet up in the air. You don’t really have anywhere to run.” I looked at the ground, feeling my face getting hotter by the minute.
“I’m sure.” He smiled at me and winked.
“So it’s like a date?” I questioned uncertainly. Immediately, I regretted asking the question. Liam’s response didn’t come immediately. It took awhile before he nodded his head and said, “Yes,” in a confident sort of way. It was almost like he was trying to convince himself rather than tell me.

“Sorry, that was super blunt. I am so sorry-”
“No, it’s fine. I just get nervous sometimes. I was just a little nervous that’s all.” He chuckled. “It IS a date.” He managed to blush as he reassured me.
Not long after, the plane began to shake and take off in full speed. I grasped the arms of the seat, reminding myself to breathe in and out. Liam, sensing my tenseness, eased my grip on the arm and talked me through the whole takeoff. It was a few minutes after takeoff that I realized were in the air and that too, unharmed.
