The Paris Trip
Chapter 1
“Allons-y!” Ms. Fleur or shall I say, “Madame” Fleur, motioned for the other boys and girls sitting on the ground towards her. I sighed as I swung my backpack over my shoulder.
“Alright! Qui veut utiliser les toilettes?” Madame Fleur smiled, her eyes twinkling and her lips curved into a smile.
“We’re still in the U.S. and she’s speaking in French, holy hell, this is going to be a long trip.’” My friend, Leah, had leaned over and whispered into my ear. I giggled as I caught Madame Fleur’s eye.
“Non? Okay, maintenant, nous allons passer par la sécurité!” She pointed to security. We had already managed to get checked in without anyone going missing, which was surely enough going to happen.
“Um. I know this is a Paris Trip and all but I think it would help a lot if you gave us the directions in English so, you know we don’t happen to get ourselves KILLED in the process.” Leah blurted out. There was an eruption of laughter and Madame Fleur walked over.
“En Francais, s'il vous plait?” She grinned. Everyone responded by snickering and making their way to the long line of people in security.
It was Spring Break and this year I signed up for the Paris Trip at my school. I was skeptical whether my parents would let me go, but surprisingly they agreed. I was ecstatic and eventually Leah signed up too. Leah and I have been friends since 4th grade. Ever since she punched the kid who took my Hershey’s Chocolate Bar from me I knew she would be my best friend forever. Quite weird, I know, but I knew I could count on her for everything.
“I swear, I might kill someone on this trip…” Leah huffed and stomped her way over to the line, managing to cut in front of a few people. I chuckled and stepped behind her, apologizing whomever she skipped.
After 45 minutes, the whole group managed to make it through security. Ms. Fleur was quite exhausted already, it was probably because Martin, a clumsy junior, accidentally forgot to empty his pants of all his change. He went through the security screen around five times until Ms. Fleur managed to get him through.
“Okay,” she sighed, “We need to make our way to the waiting area. Buy whatever you need and use the restrooms while you’re at it.” She walked over to the gate and sat in one of the many black leathery seats.
“Girl! Guess who just tweeted?” Leah nudged my arm as we sat down next to each other.
“Obviously someone you like!” I giggled as I put my backpack in my lap.
“Niall! He tweeted 2 minutes ago saying that him and the rest of the boys are in town but they’re leaving right now!” She started to fangirl.
“Oh my gosh! Really? They’re in town? I never knew they were! Why were they here?” I asked excitedly. I started to squirm in my seat as I joined Leah fangirling. In response to my question, Leah shrugged and started to talk about the recent events in our fandom. I, on the other hand, kind of zoned out.
So I might as well tell you, but I am a HUGE One Direction fan. I was a fan from the beginning and I knew everything about them. I was absolutely in love with their music. I was also in love with one of the members in particular, Liam Payne. I was obsessed with him. He and I had a lot of things in common, including being bullied in childhood to the type of TV shows and books we liked. I had constant dreams about him and meeting him. I knew that there were about a few thousand other girls who would do anything to meet the boys and there were about a thousand more who would be a perfect match with Liam. My friend, Leah, was totally obsessed with Niall Horan and knew everything about him.
I was interrupted by Leah waving her hand in front of my face and saying, “Hello? Earth to Casey?”
“Sorry, I kinda zoned out.” I shook my head trying to clear my mind. “Go on!” I nudged Leah.
“Okay, well, apparently, the boys were in town for some advertising deal or something. I really wish we could have stalked them!” She pouted.
“Yeah, same. If we weren’t here, we both know we would be driving around looking for them.” I nodded. We waited for 45 minutes till the intercom announced our plane was boarding.
Almost immediately, Leah jumped up and grabbed me from my seat. She hated staying seated for more than 10 minutes. It was just the kind of person Leah was. Who knows how she got through 7 hours in school?
Our Paris Trip group merged into a neat line as the lady in front took our boarding passes.
“We’re sitting together. I don’t care what that boarding pass says!” Leah chuckled.
“I kind of assumed we would be sitting together!” I laughed as I handed the lady my boarding pass.
“Have a nice flight!” She smiled, all her pearly white teeth showing.
“Thanks!” I collected my things and was about to make my way through the door to the plane when I heard a shrill scream.
I whipped around, not sure of what had caused such a uproar. Pretty soon, there were camera flashes and people yelling. There were a few bodyguards emerging through the crowd of people. I covered my eyes from the blinding flashes and saw a small group of people huddled around the counter in front of the lady taking boarding passes.
“Come on! Let’s not get into this mess!” Leah yanked my sleeve and led me to the plane. I tried to crane my neck to get a better view of who was getting on the plane but I failed to see anything in particular.
It took a few minutes to find a seating arrangement that worked for the group. Me on the other hand was forced to move to a chair divided by an aisle from the rest of the group. Leah sat herself next to me.
“Oh! Leah. That’s not one our seats that were booked for our group. There is one right next to me!” Ms. Fleur motioned at an empty chair.
Leah looked at me wide-eyed. She rather sit in an electric chair than sit next to Ms. Fleur for more than 10 hours on a plane. She stared back at the seat and Ms. Fleur who was still motioning her to come over. “Come on, let’s go.” She picked up her backpack. I began to stand when I heard Ms. Fleur’s irritating voice again.
“Oh! Sorry. I meant that there was only one seat here. Sorry Casey! Next time we’ll make sure we’re all in the same aisle!” She smiled.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Leah looked at me.
“Oh god…” I managed to say. “You go, I’ll be fine alone. I hope…” I added.
“She chose me to sit with her because she hates me and she knows that I hate her.” She rolled her eyes and reluctantly took her seat next to Ms. Fleur, managing to make an irritated face as she sat down.
I chuckled and realized that my bulging backpack was taking a lot of space. I took out my essentials for the trip and pocketed them. Standing up, I attempted to put the backpack in the overhead compartment. Even though I had taken a few items out, the backpack was still large and could barely fit. I was trying desperately to make it fit inside when I heard a deep, manly voice behind me.
“Here, let me help you with that.”
I turned around, looking the man straight in his eyes. My eyes finally focused on his face. It looked way too familiar; the deep brown eyes, the brown quiffed hair, the cheeky grin, and the cute dimples. It was him, Liam James Payne, from One Direction.
