The Princess and the Punk

Chapter 5

Amelie's POV
I wasn't alone though... There was a guy sitting on the curb smoking. He looked at me and I looked at him. He had bright red hair, tattoos, and piercings. He doesn't look like someone you want to be in a dark alley with. But somehow I felt safe with him.
"Why are you out here?" He asked wiping his face.
"Needed to get away..." I said quietly.
"I don't think an alley is the safest place for a pretty lady like you." He said looking me over.
I noticed his eyes were red and his face was flushed, like he'd been crying... The same way my face probably looked. There was a moment of silence before he spoke again.
"Want a cigarette? Or do you not smoke?" He asked holding out one and smirking a little.
"Uh.. Yeah..." I said hesitantly.
"Um.. How do I?" I said slightly embarassed.
He scooted closer towards me and handed me the cigarette.
"Put it in between your teeth, when I light it breath in. Okay?" He said slowly.
"Okay..." I said.
He leaned forward slightly cupping his hands around and lit it. He smelled like cigarettes and mint. I breathed in, the smoke filled my lungs, I immediately coughed.
He giggled, " Happens your first time, you get used to it." He said.
I continued smoking the cigarette with every breath I felt less like I was choking to death and my body relaxed.
"Whats your name?" He asked.
"Amelie's Lewis," I said.
I hope he doesn't recognize my name.
"Beautiful. Mines Michael. Michael Clifford." He said.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked.
"I just needed to go somewhere away from... Away from... My problem..." He said.
His eyes began to fill with tears but he quickly blinked them away.
"What are you doing out here?" He asked.
"I needed to get away from my problem..." I answered.
I thought of Harry's dark eyes. I touched my cheek remembering the first time he hit me. The tears began to fall yet again. Michael moved closer wrapping his arm around me. I took in his scent of cigarettes and mint.
"Why are you crying love?" He whispered.
"I've always been told how to live my life... Always... And now I'm being forced to marry a guy that I don't love." I cried.
Why am I telling him this? I just met him 10 minutes ago. He hugged me tighter.
"He gave you those bruises and that scar on your cheek, didn't he?" He asked.
I just nodded.
"Why were you crying?" I asked.
"My mom... She has cancer and the chemo isn't doing anything." He said.
"I'm sorry Michael, no one should have to go through that." I said.
There was more scilence.
I pulled out my phone to see what time it was, only 9 o'clock. I hadn't eaten much at the party and was getting hungry.
"C'mon lets go get some food," he said.
"Oh okay," I said.
He grabbed my hand and pulled me up. We walked to his car, he ran around and opened the door for me. I should probably tell him that I'm a princess... When Michael started the car Somedays Gone by All American Rejects played.
"Oh my god I love this song!" I said.
"You like AAR?" He asked.
"Hell yeah! Their my favorite!" I yelled.
After a couple songs we pulled up to a pizza place.
"You like pizza?" He smirked.
"Who doesn't?" I replied.
He opened the door for me and walked in.
"Hey Loraine!" Michael said to the lady be hind the counter.
"Michael! How are you honey?" Loraine said.
"I'm alright," he replied.
"Hows your mom doing?" She asked.
"Not to good, she has to go through treatment again." He said sadly.
"I'm sorry love," she said.
"Who's this-pre... Do I know you from somewhere?" She asked.
"Um no I don't think so..." I said hoping she wouldn't notice me.
"This is Amelie, I thought she might enjoy the best pizza in town," he said.
"Do you want your usual?" She asked.
"Do you like bacon?" He asked me.
"Love." I said.
Loraine began making the pizza while we waited at a near booth.
"Michael, I haven't been completely honest with you... I'm a Lewis like from The Lewis Family..." I said.
"I know." He said.
"Why didn't you act different around me then?" I asked.
"Why didn't you act different around me when you saw that I had tattoos, piercings, or my hair was bright red. Cause its just a label. It's not who you are." He said.
