Undercover

When we get home it is almost 10 and Josh was waiting up with an angry expression
“Where have you been?” He asks right when we walk to the door
“The gym dad...it isn’t even late.” Harry says seeming confused
“I’m not upset with you. I’m upset with the girl.” He says glaring at me and I look at him angrily
“Could you stop.” I roll my eyes “I was out with Harry.” I say defensively
“Dad whats going on? Why are you being all weird today?” He asks
“ Harry go upstairs I need to talk to Katie.” Josh orders and Harry frowns
“No- i want to know what’s going on. Why are you being such a...Dad to her?” Harry asks
“Because I promised her dad I would!” Josh snaps and I stiffen and Harry’s eyes soften in understanding, “Her parents put her life in my hands. I’m not having it drowned by the shit she was trained to do.” he slips up
“What do you mean by trained?” harry asks
“He means that I can’t do what I love anymore.” i spit at Josh “I’ve never met you before today. My parents knew you not me. You have to build this authority and respect. Not throw it on me like a parent. Because news flash Josh. My parents are dead, I didn’t ask for another pair.” I say running upstairs to my room and slamming the door. I lock it and begin to sob. One thing I don’t do lot is cry. But when I do it is a mountain of sobs and uncontrolled breathing while I throw everything around.
I’m only 16 after all, and my parents were killed...I think I deserve some time to mourn and then never think about it again. I begin to destroy the room and it makes a lot of noise.
I hear knocks and shouts from the other side of my door but ignore them. I needed to let all this out.
“Katie please stop!” I hear Josh say in a frantic way, He probably thought I was going to hurt myself.
I punch the wall in the heat of the moment and cry out in pain. I just broke my hand, didn’t I. Good fucking going Katie, you’re so stupid!
“Katie are you okay?” Harry calls
“I broke my hand!” I say in a calm way, my voice is choked up and sobs were still leaving my mouth
“Fucking shit Katie open the door.” Josh calls angrily
“Just leave me alone.” i say in a soft defeated way sitting up against the wall.
“Katie both you and I know I can get inside there no problem. but I’d rather not buy a new door.” he say and I roll my eyes standing up and unlocking it.
“Is this what you wanted?” I ask.
“Katie look what you’ve done to yourself.” Harry says pulling me into a hug. I shrug at im and he sighs while Josh take my hand
“You cry?” Josh asks and Harry looks at him funny but he doesn’t know who I am.
“I’m only 16 Josh. I just lost my parents and everything I knew. And you want me to change? I can handle only so much.” i say letting out a sigh
He looks up at me and nods lightly, “We will make it work.” He says “But now we have to get you to the doctor.” he says and I shake my head
“No way.” I say, I hated the doctors!
“Is that another fear? Have we turned you into a softy?” Josh jokes and I slap his arm
“No. The last time I was at the hospital I was-” I paused and look at Harry “Really..Um..Messed up.” I say “I was in there for about a month unable to walk or move realy without being in immense pain. So no. I don’t like doctors” I mumble and osh nods before laughing
“Shut up with your girly shit and get in the car. Man up.” He says snapping my shoulder
“Dad What the-” Harry seems shocked at his dad
“Fine. but you are buying me ice cream.” I say and Josh nods.
“Wow. Okay you guys have a weird type of relationship here. One second you’re fighting and being serious the next you’re going for ice cream.” Harry says trying to understand it himself
“Yup. You coming?” Josh asks
“Yeah..” Harry mumbles “You good now Katie?” harry asks and I shrug
“My fingers are going numb.” I grumble as we drive off
“That’s not good.” Josh says and I shrug again this is normal in my world. But i never get hurt by myself
“Good thing mom is at work.” Harry chuckles and I laugh along
“This wouldn’t have happened if Josh didn’t push me over the edge.” say and Josh stiffens
“I’m not sorry.” he say and Harry slaps his arm “i was doing my job.” He grumbles and I nod
“I’m going to school with a cast.” I change the subject “People better not fuck with me.” I say in a threatening tone
“Not with me there. What are you going to say when people ask about my new sister?” Harry asks
“I’m going to say im your sister and if they ask when I became your sister say I always have been.” I say simply and he nods
“Okay. Um but the gang already knows you aren’t because they are really close to me.” Harry says
“Then tell them I don’t want any attention. Have them just play along.” I say and he nods pulling out his phone
“Here we are. Lets go.” Josh says pulling into the hospital and they a parking space
Harry walks ahead and I pull Josh to the side, “I’m nonexistent.” I say and Josh nods
“I know we have a special doctor who doesn’t ask for information. I’ll ask for him by name and get us sent straight to him.” Josh explain and I nod
“We are here for Dr.Barb” Josh says and the lady looks up, then around and nods at Josh
“His office sir.” She says and he nods leading us back
“You have a special doctor?” Harry asks his dad who shrugs
“A family friend.” He explains and Harry seems understanding, not asking anymore questions
“Dr. Hello.” Josh walks into the office not knocking and we follow. The Dr. smiles and shakes Josh’s hand
“What can I do for you Josh?” He asks
“She broke her hand and we can’t have her in the records.” Josh whispers to Barb who nods
“Lets take a look.” he says sitting me down and taking my hand.
Eventually we get a cast on and are let out. It only takes 3 hours and lets say..Im really tired!
When we get home I crash into the bed and pass out. Sadly without setting my alarm.

The next morning Harry is shaking me awake.
“We are going to be late hurry up.” he says and I shoot out of bed. I am a very punctual person and am never late. I sprint to the shower. shower. Then the closet, and change. I was wearing black skinny jeans a black crop top with a zipper up the front. I pair it with some combat boots and a backpack. My hair was curly and I had no time to straighten it. An when I say curly, I mean it looks like a have a perm, but don’t have one.
I hate it!
I put on my makeup and run down stairs in record time.
“I’m ready!” I say dramatically
“Cool. Now. Have breakfast.” Harry smirks and I look at him confused. I thought we were late?
I look at the clock and then glare at Harry who was snickering with his dad and mom.
“not funny.” I say pouting. I grab some toast bread and pop it into the toaster letting it roast. Then I go to the fridge and get cream cheese and strawberries. When the toast is done I smear on the cream cheese and top it with strawberries making a sandwich,
“That looks nasty.” Harry comments and I shrug, It tastes great.
“Here is some lunch money. We signed you up for all of Harry’s classes so you’ll be together all day.” Chloe chirps and Harry chokes on his coffee at the news
“I’m a Senior.” He says
“And I’m smart.” I smirk at him and he looks at me shocked
“You have a brain?” He asks in a mocking shock way making me
“You have a brain?” I say in a mocking tone after him and he says it and then me and then him and then-
“Stop it guys. You act like brother and sister.” Josh shuts us up and we stop and chuckle
“Want to ride to school?” I ask Harry who nods excitedly
“No.” Josh says
“Common Josh. He wont get hurt!” I try
“He can drive when he gets a licence for it.” Josh says and Harry frons nodding
“Fine. So my car?” Harry asks
“Nah I’m riding to school.” I chuckle and he pouts.
“I’ll follow you and we will park together.” I say and he nods understanding
We eat the rest of breakfast in silence. “Is it weird that i’m nervous?” I ask softly embarrassed and the family looks at me with smiles
“No it’s normal to be nervous. Just don’t assault anyone.” Chloe says seriously
“Assault?” Harry asks confused
“I’m a very interesting character Harry maybe one day you’ll know.” I say softly and he frowns
“Anyways. Don’t be nervous. Be yourself.” Josh says and then Chloe and him exchange concerned looks after he says that
“But less...Um. Violent. Be a normal teen. Copy Harry and his friends.” Chloe says and Harry groans
“Is this what it is like to have a sibling. I’m already annoyed.” Harry groans and I nod
“I don’t like it either Harry.” I mumble
“Guys go or you’ll be late.” Chloe says and I nod grabbing my keys.
I groan when I put on my helmet hating the way it was mushing my hair. I’m going to look like a zombie after this ride.
I get on and wait for Harry to drive off before following him out
When We get to school everyone is looking our way. I notice a special Blonde in the corner and cringe when she begins to walk over.
I get off my bike and Harry gets out of his car.
“Harry! Hi!” Taylor chirps happily. I walk over to them and Harry sighs before looking at Taylor
“Taylor. Katie is not my girlfriend.” he says bravely and she looks at me with a triumphant smirk “She is my sister. And well. Yeah. But I still don’t want to go back out with you. So could you stop like...trying.” He says trying to be polite
“Sister!?” Taylor asks shocked
“Yeah..” Harry says in a weird tone. GREAT he is a bad liar. Her friends begin to come up to join our circle of conversation and leave it to Taylor to make things look innocent on her part.
“Oh. Well then i guess we got off on the wrong foot.” She says trying to be nice to me
“Or should you say wrong fist. Taylor I’ve meet you twice and I can already tell you're a two faced bitch. I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want you near me even. So get the fuck out of my face.” I say rolling my eyes at her and she gasps
“You’re so mean.” She says faking tears and I look at her blankly
“You’re a really ugly when you pretend.” I say turning to Harry “And she seems to be pretending 98% of the time. The other 2% is when you aren’t talking.” I say smirking.
By the time I say this we formed a bit of a crowd due to Taylor’s fake sobs.
“oohhhh!” the group around us choruses
“Lets go Katie.” Harry says wrapping an arm around my shoulder leading me to the building
“Dad said not to assault people.” He chuckles
“I didn’t hit her.” I shrug
“You verbally assaulted her. An I though it was really funny.” he chuckles again and I look at him with an amused expression
“Hey Harry.” Zayn walks up to us, “Hey Kat.” Zayn says and I stiffen and force a smile out
“Hi Zayn.” i say
“You okay?” harry asks
“Yeah my mom just called me that. but it’s fine.” I say shrugging and Zayn’s eyes widen with regret but I smile at him because he honestly didn’t know
“What are your classes?” Zayn asks and I shrug having no clue
“Lets go get your schedule.” Harry says and I nod letting them lead me
While they got my stuff I looked around. Everyone seemed to be staring at me and I feel very out of place for the first time in my life.
“i don’t like this.” I say out loud
“School? haven’t you been to one?” Zayn chuckles and I shake my head
“No.” I say “ I’m not a person who likes people.” i say. I kill them.
“It will be okay.” Zayn says “We will be with you every step of the way.” he assures me an I smile at him
“Thanks. But eventually you’ll leave. Just like everyone else.” I say simply. It came out so innocent I could see his heart break through his eyes
“don’t say that..We will be here.” he says and I shrug
“Here is your classes. All of mine Just life our parents said.” He chuckles and Zayn looks confused
“I thought you were 16?” Zayn asks
“I am. but I’m smart.” I shrug
“Brain.” Harry chuckles. I laugh thinking about our weird fight this morning and how I’ve never felt so loose
“What?” Zayn asks
“Nothing.” harry says and I nod
The bell rings shortly and we head to class. While we walk in the teacher stops me
“Are you the new student?” she chirps
I nod slowly pulling my arm away from her slowly scared she would kill me with literal kindness
“Oh I’m so excited. She says and I force a smile looking at Harry for help, but he was just chuckling with Zayn and the other guys who showed up sometime while the teacher was talking to me.
When the bell rings the lady gets everyone's attention
“Guys! Okay, we have a new student! Everyone say hello to Katie Keller.” she introduces “Anyone have a question?” She asks the group as I stand bored. A few hands go up.
“Are you related to Harry?” A guy asks and I nod
“I’m his younger sister.” i say
“How much younger?” a girl asks
“i’m 16.” i say and people chuckle thinking it was probably a joke. Because everyone in here was like 18. and I just turned 16.
“How are you in this class then?” A guy asks sarcastically
“I’m smart.” I say bluntly not liking this
“What do you like to do?” A guy asks
“Train. I do a lot of training.” I say simply and they look confused
“Elaborate?” the teacher asks
“I- um. freerunning and parkour type stuff. an then you add guns.” I shrug and her eyes widen a bit
“You probably suck. you’re only 16.” a girl says in a snotty way
“Whatever floats your boat lady.” I shrug and chuckles go through the room
“Then prove it.” she smirks“I don’t have to prove myself to you. I don’t know who you’ve been hanging out with but I don’t lie for attention.” i roll my eyes “Can we get on with the lesson now?” I ask and before she could answer I’m beside Louis in an empty seat.
“I hate this.” I grumble
“Why?” He asks
“I already know this stuff why learn it again.” I roll my eyes
“What do you mean?” He asks
“Nothing.” I say
And so the day went on. I met new people, hated new people. Ate. Met more annoying people. And then headed home. When I got home Harry was not home yet so I took this time to try and get out of school.
“I’m dropping out.” I say and Josh glares at me
“No you aren’t” he says
“I refuse to go. I hate everyone there.” I say
“Too bad. Think of it as a mission. You need to find out intell on education and have to be a normal tennager.” he says and I roll my eyes
“I’m home!” Harry yells into the house followed by other voices. Probably the guys.
“Hey what you guys talking about?” Harry asks walking in with the guys
“I’m dropping out.” I say and everyone looks at me wide eyed
“No she isn’t” Josh says and I groan
“Please! Don’t make me go back to the hell hole. Everyone is awful!” I say in a whiny tone
“no.” Josh groans
“Fine.” i smirk using a trick I used as a kid. “but you asked for it.” I chirp. I puff out my cheeks and hold my breathe
“Katie. What are you doing?” Josh asks and I cross my arms over my chest.
“Katie you are turning red. Breathe.” Liam says worried and I shake my head.
“Dad do something!” Harry says and I begin to feel light headed
“No.” Josh says rolling his eyes and I feel sick to my stomach now.
“She is going blue dad!” Harry says frantically
Josh knew I was trained in many things but not this.
I begin to see spots and stumble a bit making Josh look at me worried
“Chloe Katie is choking!” Josh says calmly and Chloe runs into the room with a worried face running to me. I shake my hand trying to get her to stay away but she pats my back once hard and I am forced to let out a breathe.
“You cheated” I glare at josh who smirks and shrugs
“Oh well.” he chuckles
“You know..I’m going to go to the bar tonight. I can’t wait for your face.” I say and his eyes widen
“You are underaged.” he says
“I have connections.” i smirk
“You’re grounded.” He declares
“I’ll sneak out.” I say back
“I’ll send the cops out and get you busted” he counters
“I can out run them.” I say smirking
“I’ll come with you and embarrass you.” He says
“And i’ll yell rape.” I say knowing I won
“Ugh!” He groans and Chloe chuckles at our behavior
“You act like a father and daughter.” she says
“Well i would like a refund.” he chuckles and I slap his arm
“Well I refuse to go. If you want me to go to school. I’ll do it online. Or can I go straight to college? Something. Anything BUT high school.” I complain
“No. You need to be around people your age. And you guys should all go out tonight. Party or do something teens do. I don’t know.” Josh says shooing us off
“You just got us permission to go to a party.” Harry says shocked
“And?” I ask
“Well, He is..HIM. He doesn’t do that. Ever.” harry says still shocked
“I’m going to get dressed. You guys know a party around?” I ask
“yeah! Kyle is having one tonight.” Niall says and I smile
“How many people?” i ask
“Um well Maybe 100?” Niall estimates
“I’ve never been to a party.” I say and they look at me and awe at my age again
“Shut up.” I mumble leaving to go change. After about 40 minutes of nothing I find a black dress and smile to myself. I begin to get ready.
Time for my first high school party.
