Chapter 4

Chapter 4

I saw Saira's eyes twitch and blink a little. My heart is starting to beat faster. I couldn't believe this.

“DOCTOR DOCTOR!” I started screaming. The nurse looked my way from the window and called the doctor. As the doctor came I looked at Saira, she started breathing heavily. The doctor rushed me out of the room.

I was getting really scared; I started walking back and forth outside of her room. I quickly called everyone. I peeped inside the room, nervously. The nurse was checking her blood pressure while the doctor was scanning through her previous reports. I couldn't keep myself calm. There were people that kept coming in and out of the room. No one would tell me what was going.

Finally, Saira's mum and dad came. After them, Liam, Harry, Louis, Niall and Zanib came. Sadly Munisha doesn't know much about this because she's gone on a trip for her history class to Greece. Everyone was waiting outside in the lobby. There was a lot of tension in the atmosphere and the doctors still hasn't told us about Saira's condition. Everyone was really worried.

Saira's mum was sitting down, with a napkin in her hand while her husband was trying to be supportive and hugging her. I looked over to Niall. It seems like he hadn't slept for days, him and Saira had gotten pretty close since they met. He even mentioned one time that she was his best friend. Niall eyes were bloodshot red. Harry was looking down at the floor, lost in his thoughts. Zanib was crying quietly, while Liam sat next to her, trying to comfort her. Louis went to get coffee for everyone, seems like no one was going to get any sleep tonight.

It was raining outside; I heard the raindrops as they hit the window. I paced back and forth, thinking of all the positive outcome while all the negatives one slowly overtook. As the time went by, my heart started to drop slowly. We still haven't heard anything from the doctors and it's already 10:30 p.m. Everyone started looking at each other, impatiently. Finally, the doctor came out of Saira's room. We all stood up immediately and hurdled around the doctor. Everyone started to question him at the same time.

“EVERYONE! Calm down and please listen to me.” With that we all stopped talking.

“Okay, so at the moment Saira's out of danger and is fine. But...”

“But what?” I got alarmed.

“Please listen to me before you ask any questions. As I was saying she's out of coma and danger, but we have injected her so she's sleeping. You guys could meet her after she wakes up.”

We all were really happy. Especially me, I wanted to scream. But I was in the hospital, so I just stood there. Everyone started to hug each other.

“Thank you so, so much doctor.” I saw Saira's mum and dad shaking the doctor's hand. Saira's mum started to cry with joy.

“It's our job.” The doctor smiled, “Know you guys can go home and rest. If one of you want to stay, you can.”

All of us wanted to stay, none of us wanted to leave. After a long argument the doctor finally decided that we all could stay. We really didn't sleep all night, well at least me and Saira's parents didn't. The rest were sleeping on the sofas that were in the lobby. I was in Saira’s room, pacing back and forth, just watching Saira to wait for her to wake up.

I really need some coffee. I walked to get some coffee, as I walked in the lobby in the lobby I saw everyone sleeping so calmly. On one end of the long sofa, Liam had his head back on the sofa, Zanib’s head was on Liam’s lap and was lying down on the sofa, and Liam’s hand was on Zanib’s head, stoking it in his sleep. On the other end of the sofa, Harry had his head on Louis’ shoulder, while Louis had his head on the back of the sofa. Louis’ hand was on top of Harry’s. I could tell he was trying to calm him down. Niall was scrunched up on the small sofa; he looked like a little kid. I could tell he was trying to go to sleep but, couldn’t. Saira’s mum and dad were sitting next to each other, just looking down at the floor, lost in their thoughts.

I got my coffee and headed back to Saira’s room. When I entered the room, I saw Saira slowly opening her eyes. Instantly I put my coffee on the table next to Saira and ran to the lobby. There I saw Niall, Louis and Liam were awake. Harry still had his head on Louis’s shoulder and Zanib was still sleeping on Liam’s lap, while Liam watched Zanib sleep. They saw me running and suddenly looked at me with worry.

“Is everything okay?” Niall shot up and ran towards me.

With Niall’s booming voice Harry and Zanib woke up too. They rubbed their eyes and looked at me confused. I tried to catch my breath before I spoke.

“Yes…I...saw Saira open her eyes.” I took another deep breathe before continuing. “I ran down here to tell you guys that I think she is waking up.”

All of them quickly stood up and started to walk. Obviously Saira’s parents were ahead and everyone else behind them. When we reached the room we saw Saira was awake, looking around. She was really confused and lost. We all entered the room one after another, first her mum than dad, and afterwards me, Niall, Harry, Liam, Zanib and Louis. We all scattered around the bed. Saira’s parents and I stood at the right side of the bed, Harry and Louis stood at the end of the bed and Zanib, Liam and Niall stood at the right side of the bed.

Saira’s mum sat on her knees, held Saira’s hand and started crying. Saira’s dad sat next her and rubbed her back in comfort. I just stood there looking at Saira, finally she’s awake. It felt like this heaviness from my heart was removed.

“Umm…mom, what’s wrong? Why are you crying and why am I here?” She examined everyone in the room. Still very confused and lost. It seemed like she was looking at us for the first time.

Before Saira’s mum could say anything, the doctor came.

“Umm. Sorry to spoil the conversation, but can I talk to you guys for a minute?” Saira’s mum nodded.

“Saira I’ll be back in a second. Okay?” Saira nodded

“Okay.”

Saira’s mum and dad followed the doctor, and so did I. I was curious why Saira was so clueless and confused. I wanted to know what the doctor had to say. So I followed them to the doctor’s office.

Saira’s Point Of View

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. Everything looked so unfamiliar. I don’t remember being here. How did I get here? Where am I? What happened to me? So many questions are running through my mind, but I have no answers for any of those questions. And for some strange reason this didn’t seem like New York.

My head was throbbing; I had bandages on my head arm and need on my left arm. Everything was a little blurry. I heard someone rush inside the room; I looked towards the room and saw mom and dad come in. Behind them were some other kids, well they looked around my age. I couldn’t recognize anyone of them. They all came and stood around me. I still couldn’t recognize any of their faces. Who in the world were they? I’m so lost and confused.

My mom and dad stood on the right side, next to them was a boy that was just staring at me. There wasn’t something in the way he was staring at me, I just couldn’t figure out what. He had black short hair, hazel eyes and was wearing a black shirt and jeans. I looked in front of me, and saw two boys standing at the end of the bed. One had dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and was wearing a white shirt with red stripes and black red pants. Next to him was a boy with curly brown hair, beautiful green eyes and was wearing a white shirt and black jeans; he had bunch of bracelets on his right hand. He looked so gorgeous. Left of me was a girl with big brown eyes, short black hair and she was wearing a purple shirt with black jeans, big hoop earrings and dark makeup. The boy next to her had brown eyes and straight and short dirty blond hair and was wearing a navy blue shirt with a brown jacket and dark blue jeans. He was holding the girl’s hand as if he was trying to comfort her. If I had to guess, than I would say that they were going out. Finally the last boy standing there was a boy with short blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes; he was wearing a grey shirt with jeans. His eyes looked really tiered, like he hasn’t slept properly. They were all really cute but why were they here.

Mom sat down on her knees, took my hand and started crying, while dad comforted her.

“Umm…mom, what’s wrong? Why are you crying and why am I here?”

Before she could answer the doctor came in saying that he needed to talk to my mom and dad so they went after the doctor, and for some strange reason the boy with black hair followed them.

After they left I tried to get up but couldn’t. I felt really dizzy. I tried again, but it caused a lot of pain.

"OUCH." I screamed.

"Saira are you okay. Oh my god. Don't...move." The boy with blonde hair had an Irish accent. Wait a second. What? The blonde boy has an Irish accent?

He came near me with his worried eyes.

"Yeah. He's right. You should lie down and just relax." The boy with brown eyes had a British accent. What is going on?

He let go of the girl's hand, came next to the boy with Irish accent and helped e lay down properly.

"Thank you." I smiled at them awkwardly. I didn't know what to say to them.

Who are they and why do they have accents? My biggest question is how do they know me or my name? Am I even in New York, forget New York, am I even in America? This has to be a dream.

I'll just close my eyes for a few minute. After a few minutes I opened them again. They were still there, but know the curly haired boy and the striped shirt boy were standing where mom and dad were standing before. Now that the boy was closer, he looked so much cuter. They all were really cute, but there was something about him that was really attractive. His green eyes looked even more beautiful up close, and his brown curls were just perfect. I kept staring at him. He gave me a smile, and his gorgeous dimples showed; wow, there are no words for his smile and dimples. I quickly, hopefully he didn’t notice the way I was staring at him.

For a few minutes everyone was quiet; it got really awkward.

“Love, are you okay? You’re awfully quiet.” The boy with the striped shirt finally broke the silence. Woah. Did he just call me love? He also has a British accent.

“Yeah! You’re looking at us like you’ve never seen us before.” The curly haired boy also has an accent. As confused as I am, I like it. I always loved British accent, and it made the boys so much more attractive.

Before I could say anything, mom and dad came in; behind them was the black haired boy. Mom’s eyes were red and she was crying, while dad was comforting her. The boy seemed like he was about to cry, he had so much sadness in his eyes. But right now all I see is my mom crying.

“Mom! What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

Everyone started looking at her, waiting for her answer. Quickly she wiped away her tears and stopped crying.

“It’s nothing.”

“Stop lying and tell me what’s wrong.”

“I’ll tell you, but right know you need to relax.”

“NO, tell me now.” I know I was being stubborn but something was really wrong. I could see it; I could feel it. They were hiding something from me. I just stared at her, waiting for her answer; others were looking at her puzzled also.

Zayn’s Point of View

The doctor came in telling us that he had to talk to Saira’s parents. I was curious of what the doctor had to say so I followed them. We followed the doctor to his office. There he sat in his seat, and Saira’s mum sat on the seat across next to her husband. I stood behind them.

“Doctor is everything okay.” Saira’s mum looked really worried. Who wouldn’t be?

“Umm…Well…Kind of.”

“What do you mean by ‘kind of’?” I could hear worry in Saira’s dad’s voice.

The doctor took a deep breath before continue.

“Well Saira is officially out of danger, but during the accident she got injured on a specific part of her brain. Because of that there is a possibility that she has lost some of her memory.”

I kept on looking at the doctor like he was crazy. Is he serious? How could this be possible?

“That’s not possible. When we went to talk to her, she remembered us. She knew who we were.” There was a glint of hope in Saira’s mum.

“I said that some of her memory” he emphasized one ‘some’. “I’m still not sure how many years, months, or days she forgot about.”

Right then it hit me. That’s why she was looking at us clueless. She doesn’t remember any of us; she doesn’t remember the accident; she doesn’t remember me.

“That’s why she looked so confused and was asking what she’s doing there. She doesn’t remember us.”

“You guys moved here right?” The doctor questioned Saira’s parents.

“Yeah, we moved here a year ago.”

“Well, if what he…” he looked at me

“My name is Zayn.”

“Zayn is saying is true, then I think she probably doesn’t remember what happened this past year. She doesn’t know anyone that she met during this time and all the events that took place.”

I couldn’t believe this. It can’t be possible, she can’t forget us; she just can’t.

“Is there any way that she could regain her memory?” There has to be a way. She can’t just forget everything like that.

“Sadly, no there is no way. You can try, but it could cause her life to be in danger. I wouldn’t suggest you to do anything like. If you want my opinion than you should let her relax for now and explain everything to her later.”

Saira’s mum started crying, while her dad just stood there shocked, unable to move.

“When can we take her home?” Saira’s mum sniffed.

“You can take her home tomorrow. She will have some pains, but we’ll give you medicines for that.”

“Thank You.” The doctor just nodded and we headed back to the room.

When we entered the room Saira saw her mum and started to question her.

“Mom! What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

Everyone’s eyes were on us.

“It’s nothing.”

“Stop lying and tell me what’s wrong.”

“I’ll tell you, but right know you need to relax.”

“NO, tell me now.” She was getting impatient.

“Okay. But tell me first, what is the month and year?”

Saira looked at her mum weirdly; I can imagine all the questions in her mind.”

“Ummm…” she thought for a while. “It’s March 2011.”

Everyone’s eyes widen, and now their eyes turned from her mum to her.
