Time of Our Lives

Mixed Feelings

*Kariann’s POV*

It was Saturday afternoon. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it until tomorrow night, not when I keep seeing Harry everywhere I looked. I didn’t know what it was, I mean, yeah I knew what he did the night before was because he was in a drunken state of mind, but still…

“Kariann…” I heard Dakota whisper to me. “You okay? You look like you want to hide from something.”

I’ve been doing my best to hide what happened last night. Why could she read me so well? “It’s… nothing.” I hesitated.

“Look at me.” She ordered.

I looked up at her. She stared me down for the longest moment. “I have the biggest hangover!” I flinched, hearing Harry’s voice near as he took a slump seat next to me. I felt my eyes widen in fear and shock. Shit-

I looked up at Dakota. Her eyes widened, seeing me act this way with Harry beside me. I swallowed. She grabbed both mine and Bonnie’s arms, standing. “Come on…” She started, urging us to get up.

“What-“ Bonnie started, standing anyways.

“Eleanor!” Dakota called out in the kitchen.

Her friend smiled from the kitchen. “Yeah?”

Dakota dragged the two of us into the corridor before the kitchen. “You think you can take us somewhere? I feel a girl talk coming on.”

Oh, no. Was she serious? I was fine telling just her, but all of the girls? Okay, maybe they can help me with this. Yeah, I could trust them with this. Eleanor was a little confused at first, but didn’t mind otherwise. She grabbed her wallet and keys and we headed to the door. We put on our shoes. She opened the door for us, but didn’t make a move to go outside.

“Oh! Hi!” An unfamiliar British female spoke up. “What a coincidence. Is Harry here?”

“Brandy!” The British boy yelled right behind me, very close.

I jumped, shocked to hear the girls name. The girl came through the door, practically throwing the four of us to the side as she ran to Harry, eloping into a hug. I felt my chest tightened the moment he set her on the floor, crashing his lips down onto hers. She smiled as she pulled away and smiled at us girls. She had shoulder-length dyed red hair, freckled faced, and bright blue eyes. She really was pretty, but holy shit did she remind me of, well, me. Minus the freckles. I didn’t have freckles. She made them look very attractive on a girl though.

I felt Harry make eye contact with me. Although the others smiled, greeting her. I couldn’t do it. I looked away, grabbing Eleanor’s arm. I think she got the hint. “Well, we were just leaving.” Eleanor said. “Let’s go girls!”

She rushed us out, closing the door behind us. The hell was wrong with me? It actually made sense now why he kissed me yesterday. That Brandy girl was obviously his girlfriend, so he must have mistaken me for her…

That idiot. Stupid, freaking, idiot. I wanted to punch him. He even said my name yesterday. He dares kisses me and not even acknowledge or apologize for it the next day. That bastard.

I really wanted to hit him.

*Harry’s POV*

I thought it was strange how Kariann didn’t say two words to Brandy when she came in. She sat next to me, clutching onto my arm as we sat around the couch. The guys were spread about elsewhere, seeming to avoid the two of us. I think they knew why I was with Brandy. I mean, I was a guy. A guy had his needs. Brandy was a pretty easy and open girl, so it wasn’t hard for her to give me what I wanted. We’ve only been seeing each other for a couple of weeks and I was going to call it off after this weekend, but she showed up out of nowhere.

I regretted ever telling her of mine and the guy’s secret hangout spot. And Kariann, I wished she didn’t have to know about Brandy. She was the last person I wanted to be seen spotted with Brandy.

*Kariann’s POV*

We were sitting in Starbucks. We were all sipping on iced coffee. I had just gotten done with explaining to the girls what happened the night before. “Oh, damn…” Bonnie whispered.

Dakota and Eleanor were silent, staring amongst each other. “Well…” I said, “I think he might’ve mistaken me for his girlfriend, so I guess it’s understandable...”

“You said he even mentioned your name though.” Eleanor said. “What about that?”

I shrugged and sighed. “I don’t know.”

“I’m seriously going to punch that dick in the face.” Dakota muttered, swirling a mini straw in her iced coffee.

“What? Why?” Bonnie asked, curious.

“I have my reasons…” Dakota said, taking a sip out of her coffee, making a face. “This stuff is seriously disgusting, how do you guys drink this?”

“If you don’t like coffee, why’d you get it?” I asked, feeling myself rolling my eyes.

She shrugged. “I didn’t wanna feel left out. Well, I’m going to pour this shit out. No use in me trying to act all adult-like with you four around.”

She got up. “I’m coming with!” Bonnie yelled after, tagging along.

I saw Bonnie whispering something to her. They carried on their own conversation. I heard Eleanor sigh beside me. I looked at her. “You okay?” I asked.

I watched as she just stared at Dakota for a moment. A small smile crept on her face. “Yeah. I’m great. I’m just glad to finally meet you girls.”

I smiled back. “You too. You really helped us out. Oh, and the coffee. Thank you.”

She smiled. “I don’t mind. Anyways, about Harry, don’t fret over what’s happened. He was drunk and wasn’t paying attention. He probably doesn’t even remember doing it. You said he passed out right after, right? See? A drunk kiss. It’s Harry too, so I wouldn’t be surprised. He’s quite flirty around the girls.”

“Yeah, but didn’t he basically just cheat on Brady…?” I wondered, feeling bad.

Eleanor laughed. “Oh, Kariann, you have so much to learn about Harry. He’s a nineteen year old hormonal boy that thinks he needs to bang every girl he sees. Well, maybe not every girl. He does have his own interest and taste.”

I made a face. I really did not need to be hearing about Harry’s sex life. Bonnie and Dakota came climbing back into the booth. Bonnie leaned against her elbows, resting her chin on her closed fist. She was smiling widely. “What?” I asked.

“Oh, nothing.” She said, still smiling. “Just to let you know, I won’t ever judge you if you ever decide to break it off with your current boyfriend-“

Dakota smacked Bonnie’s arm. “What!?” Bonnie asked, holding her arms out in confusion.

“Sh!” Dakota said. “Don’t make it obvious. She’s gotta learn for herself.”

“What?” I asked. “Why would I even break up with my boyfriend in the first place?”

“Oh, shit.” Bonnie said. “You weren’t kidding, Kotes.”

Dakota held up an arm. “See? Told you.”

Bonnie leaned against her friend. “I’m dying to say it though.”

“Nope. If I can last as long as I did, you can do the same.” Dakota said, shaking her head.

“Awe! Come on, mate…” Bonnie said, wrapping her arms around Dakota and rocking her back and forth.

Dakota made a face at Bonnie. Bonnie gave a cheesy smile. Dakota offered one back. At the same time, they both puckered up, as if they were going to kiss. They just started laughing, as if living their own joke. Eleanor and I just watched the two of them. They were like their own TV show and you couldn’t help but watch.

“Those two…” Eleanor whispered to me. “They remind me of Louis and Harry sometimes.”

I nodded. “Yep. Probably why we all get along quite well.”

Eleanor smiled. “That’s a good thing though.”

I suppose. We ended up leaving to head back to the boy’s place – or, what British would called a flat. We crowded in the house. Louis came running over to Eleanor. “I missed you!” He whined, bringing her in for a kiss.

“Yay! They’re back!” Zayn smiled, seeming relieved to have us back.

He came over to us, putting an arm around mine and Dakota’s shoulders. Niall popped up beside Bonnie, whereas they smiled at each other. I peeked over where the couch was. Harry wasn’t there. I wasn’t about to ask where he was either.

“Okay!” Niall said quite casually. “Who’s up for a boring game of T or D?”

“Seriously?” Zayn asked. “Why not spin the bottle? There are plenty of hot girls here-“

Dakota and I elbowed him in the stomach. He groaned in pain, otherwise not moving. “Don’t you have girlfriend, mate?” Liam asked, popping up beside Dakota.

“Yeah.” Zayn grunted. “I was only kidding.”

“Ha. Ha. Ha.” Dakota mocked. “You’re quite the funny guy, Zayn.”

“Hey, even if it’s fake, I got you laughing.” Zayn said, shrugging.

“Alright. I’m up for T or D.” Niall said.

“I’m in.” Bonnie said, grinning.

All in all, we agreed. We started to push furniture around in the living room. We seriously had some weird deal about being in circles. We made a huge one, sitting knee to knee. “Alright!” Liam said. “I’ll start-”

“Hey! What are we playing here?” Another voice popped in.

Brandy stood before us, flushed in the face. Harry was a few feet behind her, also flushed. I felt myself swallow again. “Can we play?” Brandy added quickly afterward, not caring for an answer.

Everyone started maneuvering themselves so Harry and Brandy could sit. Of course, Harry just had to sit beside me. Our knees started to touch. He offered a small smile to me. I couldn’t smile so I curled my lips, looking elsewhere. “We’re playing T or D.” Niall filled them in.

“Oh! Truth or Dare!” Brandy shouted in excitement. “I love that game.”

“Okay, I’ll start-“ Liam tried to say.

He was interrupted. “Alright!” Brandy said, turning to look straight at me. “I’ll start!”

I could hear Zayn muster an almost inaudible groan of annoyance. “This is so taking a turn for the worse…” I heard Bonnie say beside him.

Brandy was looking straight at Dakota. “You there! Truth or Dare?”

“Um…” She said awkwardly. “Truth…”

Her eyes widened in excitement like I chosen the right answer. “Okay… Are you a virgin?”

Seriously? Such an old-school question. “Ya…” Dakota answered, not quite surprising to the rest of us. I mean, come on, she’s only had one boyfriend.

“No way!” Brandy said. “So what was said about you and Louis weren’t true? What a drag.”

I felt myself gape, along with some of the others. “Son of a bitch.” Bonnie said, standing up and pointing at the red head. “Harry, I don’t know you and I don’t mean anything against you, but you better get this bitch out of here before I rip her hair out.”

“What did I do?” Brandy asked, shocked. “All I did was ask a simple question.”

I looked at Dakota. Her jaw was clenched. Louis’s fist were clenched, glaring at Brandy. Eleanor just sat, silently shocked. “You can’t tell him what to do!” Brandy said back, glaring at Bonnie.

Shit, if somebody didn’t do something, Bonnie was going to go mad. I saw Niall grabbing her wrist and on one knee, half up to keep her from attacking Brandy. I looked over at Harry.

“Get out.”

Everyone else turned their head toward Harry, shocked to no words. “What!?” Brandy asked, confused.

“You were rude to one of my best friends and insulted three more. Quite frankly, I’m done with your bitching. Get. The. Fuck. Out!” Harry said.

Brandy took a deep breath, letting out. Somehow or another, we made eye contact. She looked down at him. “Fine. I’ll leave, but it doesn’t take an idiot to know why you were going out with me in the first place. You just wanted a red-head to fuck!”

She said the last part while staring right at me. My breath caught. I swallowed, hearing her footsteps as she stormed out of the house. Everyone was yet again stunned to silence. Everyone was looking between me and Harry. I stood up, feeling quite shaky. “I… I think I want to be alone.” I managed to say, turning around to leave the group.

“Kariann-“ I heard some of the others start.

“Stop.” I heard Dakota speak up.

“Let her go.” Bonnie instructed.

I knew they understood. I walked out of the front door, hearing squealing of tires as a car flew down the street. I walked down the steps to around the house. There was a small pool. I took a seat on the ledge, sticking my feet in.

Just what I wanted to hear. The reason why Harry went out with a girl like Brandy.

I felt a tear start to stream down my face. I should’ve known than to overthink that drunken kiss he gave me the night before. Even before that, the time on the Ferris wheel when he acted like he was going to kiss me, but instead of pulling a hair off my shoulder- something that I didn’t even see him pick up. He was such a player.

Just like the first time we met. He played me.

I pulled my feet out of the water, drawing my knees in to bury my head in them.

*Zayn’s POV*

I wasn’t sure what to think. I shared the room with Harry. We laid on the bed, back to back. I could tell he was awake. Of course he would be. I wouldn’t be surprised if single soul in this house wasn’t asleep. “Zayn…” Harry spoke.

It was like a breathless whisper from what I could hear, but I heard him. “What?” I asked. My tone felt a little sharper than usual.

Well, gee, I wonder why.

“I’m such an idiot.” Harry muttered, burying his head into his pillow.

I sighed, rubbing a hand over my face. It wasn’t his fault for what Brandy said earlier. I knew the bitch said that on purpose to ruin someone’s self-esteem. Good fucking job, little miss bitch, hope you go running home with a Grammy. You got us all. “You’re not an idiot.” I said, turning over to my other side.

I could see Harry’s bare back shining from the moonlight. “But…” I continued. “You were stupid for telling that bitch where we were staying.”

Harry nodded, turning over to where he was on his stomach. “I figured that out the moment she got there…” His voice muffled through the covers.

I let out a breath, contemplating. “You know they’re leaving tomorrow night…”

“I don’t think I can face her.” Harry said. “I don’t think she wants to see me after what happened.”

“You don’t know when will be the next time you’ll see her.” I said. “You better make up for it while you can.”

Harry turned his head to where he was looking at me. “How? How do I even face her after what happened?”

I could see his eyes shining from the moonlight that hit them. Damn, he was actually tearing up. “Mate…” I started. “Are… you seriously in love with her?”

I watched as his eyes drew downward before looking up at me with a stern expression. “Yeah…”

“Damn.” I said. “You’re in a dilemma.”

“Why do you think I’m asking you for advice?” Harry sighed, shoving his face back in his pillow.

“Alright…” I sighed. “I’ll see what I can do. We’re going to be walking around London tomorrow anyways. It is their first time here.”

Harry nodded into his pillow. I patted his back. “Get some sleep. The last thing we need is a red-eyed, crybaby Harry walking around.”

“Ha. Ha.” He muttered sarcastically. “I feel so much better…”

What could I do? In a way, it was his fault. He should make himself feel bad. Maybe this could teach him to get his priorities straight. There’s a girl he loves that was right next to him, who supports him in everything he does, yet he goes around and sleep around with other girls. Sure, they’re not dating, but when you go around dating girls who are total bitches toward your friends and loved ones – something’s bound to give. I, along with the other boys, would support our little bro in any way possible, but this… this was ridiculous.

Seriously, Harry. Grow the fuck up.
