The One in the Crowd

Alyssa was sitting in her room listening to music after getting home from school. It had been a rough day. All day people had been pushing her around, telling her she was ugly and would be forever alone. One guy even came up to her and asked her, “Why do you even come to school? No one wants to see your ugly self! Why don’t you just go jump off a cliff?”

She believed herself that she was ugly as sin and felt like tons of things were wrong with her appearance. But her favorite band always helped her get through it all.

As a happy coincidence, One Direction’s song Little Things came on her iPod. She smiled to herself as she heard the all-too-familiar guitar intro played by her favorite member of the band; Niall James Horan. Just hearing the sound of his voice made her heart melt. His contagious laugh was music to her ears and put an instant grin on her face.

After a bit, his big solo came. Alyssa just laid down on her bed, closed her eyes, and imagined that Niall was right there in her room playing his guitar and singing right to her. It all seemed so real that when she opened her eyes again, she half expected him to really be there.

Sighing with disappointment and exhaustion, she turned her music off and got changed into her 1D PJs for a night of sitting in front of the TV, eating ice cream, and watching the DVD of the 1D3D movie This is Us. Good thing it was the weekend so she could have a break from being taunted at school.

I bet if I really did know Niall, he would defend me in a heartbeat and protect me from those stupid bullies. ...ah who am I kidding? Even if I did get the chance to meet him, he would never notice me in the crowd. Me of all people would not be looked at twice by anyone from One Direction. she thought as she was watching the movie.

After awhile, she fell asleep with a smile on her face lying on her couch staring at the screen; the last thing she saw being an image of Niall smiling right back at her.
