You Are My Best Friend

I somehow kept myself awake through breakfast, and everyone cracking their jokes eventually woke me up by the time the photo shoot rolled around.

When we pulled up to the studio, I stretched and yawned as I got out of the car. The boys tumbled out of another black SUV. We walked in, and got settled as the photographer told us what she was going for. Album covers.

I stifled another yawn and walked over to the wardrobe, and pulled out a couple outfits for each guy. Space was limited here, so they started changing right there. And, although I’d gone swimming with them once, I still caught my breath and blushed a little, looking away. I never thought I’d be a girl to like a guy with tattoos, but at that moment, they all looked pretty damn hot. And Harry…

Stop, I think to myself, REMEMBER TAYLOR.

The thoughts running through my head scare me. Something is happening to my heart. I love it, but it can’t happen.

The next few days, I distance myself from Harry. Then, I get a text from Taylor.

Hey. Can we talk

Yeah. Whats up?

Then, she calls.

“Hey Skyler. How’s the tour going?”

“Not too bad. I’m a little tired, but otherwise a lot of fun. What are you doing lately?”

“Well, finalizing plans for my tour, visiting your Gram, and just hanging out mostly. But, hey. I have to tell you something.”

“Yes…..”

“Well, I went to an album release party, and there was a DJ named Calvin Harris. Um, we talked and yeah.”

I could tell what Taylor was trying to get at.

“Have you told Harry?”

“No. How can I tell him? I mean, we have just grown apart. I mean, I still like him, but as a friend. I don’t want to hurt him…”

“Well, I am no expert, but just tell him! It’s better than hiding how you feel about this Harris dude. Hiding it or lying will make you feel worse than if you just tell him”

We talked for a bit longer, then said goodbye. I checked my phone, and saw it was time to get the guys ready for the concert, which was in a few hours. So I jogged down to the lobby, and waited for everyone else.

About an hour later, everyone was ready to go. All the stylists were exhausted, me included. We had been going constantly for the past few days. We were all looking forward to the week-and-a-half long break coming up. I checked my phone, then heard someone walk in to the empty room. I looked up, and saw it was Harry.

“Hey. Everything okay?”, I asked, noting his troubled expression.

“Um. Skyler. Can I talk to you?”, he asked.

“Sure. Whats up?”.

“Well. I really liked Taylor. Maybe even loved her. But, something’s changed. When we talk now, it's more like we are just friends”.

“And….”, I said, not understanding what he was trying to get at.

“Don’t tell anyone. Please. Not even the guys. Just, is it bad that I feel like we are just friends?”, he asked.

Oh, lord. This was just what they both needed. No one would leave broken hearted.

“Look”, I said, “I don’t want to get into your personal life. But, just call her. Tell her.”

“Thanks”, he said. Then, he abruptly walked up and hugged me. I felt my heart melt just a little.

“You know, aside from Lou and Niall and the boys, you really are my best friend. Thanks”, he whispered.

Oohhh, notice Skyler's changing emotions and how she just got friend-zoned. Many changes ahead, my dears.

How do y'all like the longer chapters? I am writing them out ahead of time now, and it really works better. BTW, is After good? Should I read?
