Small flecks of soft delicate snow falls to the ground, littering my hazel hair as I lay on the blanket of white under my frail body. The sharp wind runs across my pale skin causing the hairs on my arms to rise. Holly grows above my head hanging on a tree covering me from the sun but still letting through snow.

This is my 16th winter but it had never snowed as much as today and this makes me sad. Today is the day I leave home. Not alone but with my mum and younger brother, Jacob. We are leaving rainy England to move to sunny California. Just the thought of all the sandy beaches and surfing quickly brought my mood back up. The reason we are leaving, you may ask? Well that's simple. My father.
