*Lady Veronica's POV*

The sunlight poured through my window like orange juice, causing me to stir in the huge bed and eventually peek one eye open.

The dry, shriveled maid that always seemed to hover around me, rushed to my side with a facecloth and warm rose water.

I opened my closet to find a new collection of dresses, and all of my old gowns no where to be found. The maid helped me into a morning appropriate gown silently. Gosh I missed Crissa.

I studied the small map Jeffrey had drawn me, and after getting lost three times, I finally found the dining hall. Jeffrey stood up and gave me a kiss, pulling out my seat for me. I tried my hardest not to flinch under his touches.

"Sleep well m'dear?"

"Yes." I lied. When in truth I had been awake all night thinking about Harry and how he felt about me sleeping in another man's bed.

My fiance's at that.

Harry and I weren't officially courting. We hadn't talked much about our relationship since the lake with Antoinette and Zayn.

I spent almost all of my hours choosing my wedding maids and fabric colors. And when I was with Harry, the silence became more tense and his kisses felt distant.

"I'm glad." Jefferson cut in, startling me from my thoughts. I smiled and started to pick from the tray of the sausages before me.

"Veronica?"

"Hmm?"

"Pardon me for asking, but what are your thoughts on...you know....sex before marriage?"

My sharp gasp was cut off by the bite of sausage sliding down my throat. Wedging itself there and cutting off my air supply. Jefferson ran over and began to give me the heimlich. The sausage flew out and landed with a greasy smear on the beautiful lace tablecloth. A nearby attendant ran over and picked it off. I chugged my water down while

Jeffrey shifted from foot to foot staring at me, his face a bright shade of red.

"Sex? Before marriage? Like in general... or between me and you?"

He took a seat next to me, his usual facade was replaced by that of a small boy.

"Would you have sex with me?"

I sat back in my seat and ran a hand through my hair, sighing.

"I'm not ready for that Jeffery."

He bit his lip in deep thought and looked back at me.

"I'm sorry. That was way out of context. I just thought that after your comment at that dinner party...." He trailed off.

"Nay. I'm sorry. I was only jesting."

An awkward air came over the table and Jeffery checked his pocket watch.

"Oi! How time flies! I have a meeting with the count! See you later my love, I'm sorry for ruining your appetite." He said standing up and pausing to pat my back before standing up and leaving the hall.

I waited until the door shut behind him, and then I grabbed my skirts and left out a different door.

I needed to speak to Harry.
